nah i dnt. I use a 10 ft. rod and a penn silverado sv6000 spinning reel. I haven't caught more in the ocean than a 9 pound blue fish, about 14 inches long. caught on a bucktail rig with clam on the hooks for fluke

your best bet is here in florida, either coast. if you want to get a big tarpon then use a big piece of cut bait..big tarpon are lazy and do not like to hunt food..catch fresh bait at your spot, whatever smaller fish in the surf you can get..then get your bait out as far as you can from shore..150-200 ft is good at most beaches..100 yards, even better..i use an 8 ft star rod, avet LX reel spooled w/ 5-600 yards of 80 lb power pro and 250 lb mono leader, no swivels, and little weight if any.
