Madonna took lessons from a vocal coach because she was preparing for the role she had in EVITA. I'd LOVE to hear Janet sing Andrew Lloyd Webber's songs in Evita..........that'd be a big laugh with her thin, whispery voice. What is so friggin' daring about What Have You Done For Me Lately? Madonna was doing songs about the AIDS crisis back in the early 90's and wrote a song about "Why's it so hard to love one another....." so she's been socially aware too. She did more than anyone other than Liz Taylor to draw attn. to the AIDS epedemic in the 80's so just because she had that slut element about her doesn't diminish her career. It's amazing to look back and realise how influenced by Prince this whole performance is... He even wrote the hook to the song that Jimmy and Terry stole from him... The dance at the end with Jerome (Prince's old side-kick dancer) is straight from The Time... Prince's band that Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis were in! It's funny but this just reakes of Prince!
