There used to be a viewing platform at heathrow sadly after 9/11 paranoia kicked in it was closed. Because obviously a terrorist would choose to march through LHR with a RPG strapped to his back than hide in a million other places surrounding the airport.

Great shame they stopped the Leeds and Durham Tees services, they provided a great feed to the BMI network at Heathrow, they just haemorrhaged a lot of customers over to KLM and Air France when they did.

The mistakes BMI made like that are what put them into the position they are in now, the brand will cease to exist next year.

I hope British Airways starts to develop the domestic network again adding Leeds, Liverpool, Belfast, Inverness and Durham Tees again

Yeah, Next time you go there can you ask why I was told to leave the British Airways smoking room?! They said "Excuse me, this room is not open to Americans, please get out." I was so angry that I literally tried to stop an airport security van and told them about it, and they said to do what your told!! What discriminating people I met there.

I fly thru LHR often and the last time I was thru I got yelled at for taking stills out the window, how on earth did you get away with taking a video and not get screamed at by airline staff ...

sry yes it is two main runways that the planes land on. Though there is a strip running accross the airport but its too short to land a large plane on.

This is terminal 1 BMI base terminal,now it will acomodate United and other *Alliance airlines.

Terminal 1 is ex europier^(BA terminal), BA operate almost all flight trough terminal 5, some still operating from Terminal 4 but they plane to move them all until october( only flights operated by 757 can't be operated on the new terminal 5) .

I hope you enjoy your flight and if u can spend some time around heathrow to spot some planes
