Or is it his position that constitutional violations should not be met with popular opposition. This was a blatant violation of the constitution by Zelaya, so either: A. After reading the specific section of the Honduran Constitution, Mr Zelaya deserved to be removed from power. I'm NOT from Honduras. Ex-President Zelaya was trying to change the Constitution so that HE could be re-elected for life! In my opinion, this is a triumph for democracy and the Honduran people. Congratulations to all who removed Zelaya.
Aside from that it was a non-binding poll on the electorate, it would not have enabled him to be re-elected, if not hypothetically at some former date. In any case, there was no mention anywhere of any elections to elect anybody "for life".

We the majority of the Honduran people do not want Zelaya back. My family voted for him and are not only greatly disappointed with his actions as president but feel betrayed that he was selling his country to Chavez. Nadie ha dicho que en Honduras está prohibido hacer referéndums o encuestas. Lo que se debe tener en cuenta es que para celebrar cualquiera de estos actos se debe hacer bajo un estricto marco de legalidad.
Diria para empezar que dicha estricta legalidad parece importar poco cuando se trata por ejemplo, de que unos militares llevan al presidente a Costa Rica en vez de seguir cualquier procedimiento legal, paralegal o simili-legal.
Lo que digo es que me parece que lo legal es nada mas que la excusa y no el fondo de las razones del golpe.

Or is it his position that constitutional violations should not be met with popular opposition. This was a blatant violation of the constitution by Zelaya, so either: A. The 1982 constitution is an antidemocratic one born of the previous military regime, and designed to favour the rich minority, and is in the hands of the military. It is no surprise it can be used to argue against something so essentially democratic as a referendum.

After reading the specific section of the Honduran Constitution, Mr Zelaya deserved to be removed from power. I'm NOT from Honduras. Ex-President Zelaya was trying to change the Constitution so that HE could be re-elected for life! In my opinion, this is a triumph for democracy and the Honduran people. In the Honduran case leaving defense of the constitution in the hands of the military, one of the leaders of which recently stated his institution was designed in a way it could not possibly work with a leftwing leader.

No es la biblia pero, en la ausencia de un gobierno abiertamente militar, esta constitucion constituye una linea de defensa contra la democracia (referendum p.ej). Es una de las herramientas que tienen los pobres de espiritu que son los ricos en plata de Honduras. It is also entirely possible to criticise all those leaders you mention from the point of view of the rights of the poor majority (i.e.:criticism from the left). El Presidente de la República no es quien decide si se llama a una encuesta o referéndum.

Nadie ha dicho que en Honduras está prohibido hacer referéndums o encuestas. Lo que se debe tener en cuenta es que para celebrar cualquiera de estos actos se debe hacer bajo un estricto marco de legalidad.

Una respuesta aparentemente sensata.
Diria para empezar que dicha estricta legalidad parece importar poco cuando se trata por ejemplo, de que unos militares llevan al presidente a Costa Rica en vez de seguir cualquier procedimiento legal, paralegal o simili-legal.
Lo que digo es que me parece que lo legal es nada mas que la excusa y no el fondo de las razones del golpe.

José Manuel Zelaya Rosales, ya no era Presidente de la República cuando fue expulsado por los militares del país.
Pregunto: ¿cómo puede catalogarse la expulsión de un ciudadano común y corriente del país como golpe de Estado?
Aunque pensandolo bien, ya no era ni ciudadano hondureño si se le aplican los Artículos 41 y 42 en el numeral 5 al Sr. Zelaya.

Yo sí creo que es Original, ¿qué me garantinza lo contrario? ¿la palabra de Zelaya? ¿No fue Zelaya el que despidió al General Vásquez Velásquez por no por acatar una orden ilegal y después negó que no lo había despedido? ¿No fue Zelaya el que dijo que la encuesta no era para llamar a una Asamblea Nacional en una entrevista a un diario costarricense? Entonces, ¿cómo puedo confiar en la palabra de Zelaya?
