I can kind of see where the fine came from(defenseless receiver, etc.), but the way i saw this he put his shoulder/arm right in ochocinco's chest. Just looked like a pretty good hit, brady needs to not hang his guys out to dry like that though.
Basically, it wouldn't be a penalty if he didnt get hit in the head. That's pretty much it. I know technically it's no leading with the head or shoulder pads, but as long as you're not spearing the guy or crashing into his face, it won't be a penalty. Quit bitching, it's a rule that keeps the players healthy.

i love the patriots and everything but in some way it did seem like it was a clean hit. the only reason i do believe they called it was because it was helmet to helmet. you simply cannot hit helmet to helmet anymore. there was enough room for him to had of tackled him from the waist instead, or simply dove in to hit him in the waist to knock him down. he clearly bent down to aim at his head, and you just cannot do that without getting called on it.

Damn. Clean. I agree with the comments here. What is he suppose to do in that situation? Let him catch the ball? Honestly. Stupid penalty. I know they want to lower the concussions and stuff, but it's something that comes with the game. You cant use your helmet now or lead with the shoulder wtff. Are they suppose to drop kick them or something?

@ginn3dolphins actually with all these rules. drop kicking does seem like its the only thing that is legal. is there anything in the rule book that says u cant lead with ur feet. because if not than i think we might have found a way more exciting tackling technique that is totally not against the rules. lol.

This hit so so "Fine worthy" that chad has said if the Rookie LB is fined for the hit he will reimburse him for the total amout" this is just a rookie linebacker trying to make the team. it was a "bang bang" play but if you watch the shoulder hits first followed by the helmet.

If you can't hit him, what the hell are you supposed to do? Stop on a dime (even though you're probably sprinting as fast as you can to get to the receiver (or are already in the act of hitting him), wait, let the receiver make the catch, then hit him without letting either of your feet leave the ground or letting either of your helmets even graze each other's, even though you're supposed to hit with your shoulder, which is CONNECTED TO YOUR HEAD.

A game with the final score of 52-41 will no longer be considered a shootout of a game. That will be a typical game score with all the new rules literally preventing a defender from playing defense.

guys be real. you can still play real, hard hitting football without plays like this. i don't agree with a lot of the rule changes that the nfl has made but this is a good thing for the players, because a receiver going up for a ball can't protect himself and it would only be a matter of time before someone took a hit bad enough to paralyze or kill them.

Shoulder hit not helmet. Ref needs glasses or just watch the replay. If they shorten the amount of time spent viewing the replay it can be used more often without being a disruption.
