cette étude est jouée un peu trop rapidemment à mon goût ..,il ne faut pas privilégier la technique au détriment de la poésie...what do youy think about ?
@gene397@gene397 I agree with you. In Paderewsky edition it says "Presto. Minim=112" but ¿who said that? Chopin did?... I'm not sure at all. Maybe this is the speed the sudents had to reach when their learning was completed.
Here in Youtube it's sometimes like a racing, Let's see who can play it faster!
Earl Wild has always been among the most fluent and 'musical' of pianists and composers in the current era. He's had a marvelous career and I wish there were more out there like him. Neither stuffy nor showy, Mr. Wild has always given the music all it deserves.
I don't know how Chopin should like it, but probably he'll be agree with Wild. He has a very good musical taste. In relation to speed I consider is good (maybe Chopin played it faster). I'm 55 and piano teacher.
Although I prefer it a little slower I like this rendition. I also like Nuccio Trotta's one. I'd like to invite watching his videos beacuse I think he's a very good pianist. Thank you.
he plays the staccato bit abit wierd, too slow i think. im learning this piece at the moment. i can't play it at -well the tempo is supposed to be 214-crotchet. my fingers just won't play that fast.
It is cited by Harold C Shonberg in his book "The Great Pianists" that Wilhelm Kuhe witnessed Liszt perform this feat during a Vienna concert in 1847 (pg. 208). Perhaps it isn't true, but do you have any evidence that Schonberg is mistaken?
so wonderfully played i used to play this peice

What's crazy is that Liszt apparently played this piece in concert at speed with the right hand part played entirely in octaves... =)

I am trying hard with the speed. I manage it but i lose the balance between the tempo and the soft play
