@brianisinyou I saw that site too. IMHO conclusions they reached are explained by attributing wrong reasons about predictable anomalies that occur when enlarging very-LOW-RES digital pics! Doing so CAUSES curved areas to get averaged out into implausible-seeming straight lines. Overexposed sunlight in pics CAUSES the illusion of vanished areas. But an experienced Photoshop user adjusting Levels in photo can see the bottom was really a black towel with its own draping shadows. SAD but true. :-(
The Thunderbolt point was made. Nonetheless, you can still have USB 3.0 on a MacBook Pro (expresscard adapter) and Mac Pro (PCIe adapter). So stop bitching.
Lets hope it IS the next firewire... Firewire was included on almost every mini dv digital camcorder, both pro and consumer, ever made. Every pc I've owned in the last 7 years had it, and of course my macs. It's still an industry standard in music and tv production houses...

If he was being honest, which i suspect he was, this is more evidence of Jobs as a strategic, forward thinking pragmatist. intel integrated graphics (proves the MoBo is intel licensed)

western digital, toshiba and seagate hard drives
looks like apple might make their own CD drives and screens, but that is not for sure.

Apple copies lots of open source operating system and have for years... I use Linux , BSD, and Windows 7 on my HP / PC and they work great... Linux, and BSD have no known viruses... So who need a Mac ? No one...

@kewlmonke You're absolutely correct. But part of the problem is we only have 2 choices, PC vs Mac. What other product do you only have 2 choices. We once had choice. Commodore, Atari, Texas Instruments, Tandy, Epson and more made computers and each with their own OS. We think we have choice, but all PC computer run the same OS, which means they all work the same. I use and enjoy both PC and Mac, but I wish I had a 3rd or 4th to choose.
@bashbrannigan In the end it's about software. The hardware is almost the same, no matter if it's a Mac/Macbook/Pro or a PC/Notebook/Bla. So you actually do have a lot of choice, too much sometimes. In terms of Operating Systems you also have choice; OSX, Windows, Linux (there is your 3rd choice), FreeBDS (lol) etc... In the end, like one dude here said; who cares?! Use what works for you best! Everything has its advantages and disadvantages. Nothing is perfect and everyone farts. Live with it.

@evesplittheatom So instead of putting food on your table, you bought a Macbook for probably 1200 bucks. Sounds like the average Apple user. Last time I checked, Microsoft has done a lot for Mac. Bill Gates has great admiration for Steve, and if you were a true tech "guru", you'd know that. What makes Microsoft better than Apple, is that while you're making movies on your Mac, a doctor/teacher/scientist/programmer is doing something great on a Windows computer.
@trfinck interesting, since I always thought the exact opposite is the case. The average users don't even know there are other operating systems other than windows. They just buy a pc and windows comes with it, they use office, play games, etc. And anyone who really need to run mission critical software would choose something other than windows. Plus, Apple has been always huge in the education sector...

@trfinck I used to think the same. I was a pc user more than 15 years, only 3 years with Mac (although still using pc at work). found a Mac runs a lot more stable. Even in small biz, I see often non-technical people(sales, marketing) prefer macs since they don't have time to go thru all technical hassels, blue screen, etc. Recently Iupgraded to lion, it didn't ask me to more ram or so on and it actually made it run faster, somewhat different experience than I had when upgrading to visata
@trfinck Actually, my macbook pro has the latest processor before anyone else did at the time(macbook pro 2011 with sandy bridge i7). Also it has the thunderbolt connector which is ahead of its time. So...
BS. USB 3.0 blows. Especially when compared to Thunder Bolt. Still no daisy chaining on USB3. I would be amazed if Apple included it. I expect FW800 to disappear too. TB is a heart beat away from making the Mac Pro disappear too. You can move all internals HDD's to externals and drastically lower internal temperatures. Kill optical drives too and the iMac has lots of room to grow. iMac's can address 64GB ram and now come with 2GB GPU's. The Mac Pro is nearing ancient status.
@kjevo Thunderbolt is far more powerful (10Gb/s) then USB 3 and can do much greater things. Don't hate on new technology. I loved the idea of USB when it came out. But that is me and I like the advancement of computer technology.

Apple start a project called mkLinux where Apple want to make their own Linux distribution ... At the same time Steve Jobs was coping BSD at NeXTSTEP / to create OpenStep OS ... Openstep later was bought by Apple to make Mac OS X ...
Apple copies lots of open source operating system and have for years... I use Linux , BSD, and Windows 7 on my HP / PC and they work great... Linux, and BSD have no known viruses... So who need a Mac ? No one...

@kewlmonke You're absolutely correct. But part of the problem is we only have 2 choices, PC vs Mac. What other product do you only have 2 choices. We once had choice. Commodore, Atari, Texas Instruments, Tandy, Epson and more made computers and each with their own OS. We think we have choice, but all PC computer run the same OS, which means they all work the same. I use and enjoy both PC and Mac, but I wish I had a 3rd or 4th to choose.

@bashbrannigan In the end it's about software. The hardware is almost the same, no matter if it's a Mac/Macbook/Pro or a PC/Notebook/Bla. So you actually do have a lot of choice, too much sometimes. In terms of Operating Systems you also have choice; OSX, Windows, Linux (there is your 3rd choice), FreeBDS (lol) etc... In the end, like one dude here said; who cares?! Use what works for you best! Everything has its advantages and disadvantages. Nothing is perfect and everyone farts. Live with it.

They just buy a pc and windows comes with it, they use office, play games, etc. And anyone who really need to run mission critical software would choose something other than windows. Plus, Apple has been always huge in the education sector...

@trfinck I used to think the same. I was a pc user more than 15 years, only 3 years with Mac (although still using pc at work). found a Mac runs a lot more stable. Even in small biz, I see often non-technical people(sales, marketing) prefer macs since they don't have time to go thru all technical hassels, blue screen, etc. Recently Iupgraded to lion, it didn't ask me to more ram or so on and it actually made it run faster, somewhat different experience than I had when upgrading to visata

BS. USB 3.0 blows. Especially when compared to Thunder Bolt. Still no daisy chaining on USB3. I would be amazed if Apple included it. I expect FW800 to disappear too. TB is a heart beat away from making the Mac Pro disappear too. You can move all internals HDD's to externals and drastically lower internal temperatures. Kill optical drives too and the iMac has lots of room to grow. iMac's can address 64GB ram and now come with 2GB GPU's. The Mac Pro is nearing ancient status.

@kjevo Thunderbolt is far more powerful (10Gb/s) then USB 3 and can do much greater things. Don't hate on new technology. I loved the idea of USB when it came out. But that is me and I like the advancement of computer technology.
