what kind of belt do you have on?? jeez everybody always goes product crazy on here. like its going to make them sound the same. strange days. indeed. lol
A dude practicing on several different kits is awesome? Once he gets rid of that double pedal (which is cheating) and plays ball you may make that judgement.
@headzeppelin83 Double pedals aren't cheating, or else you are saying 70%+ of professional drummers are cheaters? Clearly not. Also, because he trials different pieces of kit out makes him rubbish? Man, you must know very little about drumming, because this guy is really good.
My thoughts are this: Practicing on several different spendy drum sets can be accomplished at your local drum shop. The double pedal thing doesn't get me going. Especially rudimentary stuff that isn't played with the precision to warrant broadcast. I like to think I know my fair share. But I might not. It's hard to tell.
Is that at the DW showroom? cuz i just looked at their amazing website link from Pacificdrums and found a "Gong drum". so basically a gong drum is a large, uprighted bass drum?
@JCustomZ He's not endorsed he's just freakin rich and we are all jealous!.. Don't deny guys!.. Thumbs up if you are.. Ahaha.. Its okey to be jealouse sometimes!.. LOL ..
@pnutskater96 you dont earn endorsements on buying things, if that was the case i would be endorsement by 3 diferent companies. you get endorments based on how well you can promote their stuff. people like COBUS get endorsements because hes got 5 million views on his youtube page where everyone can see that hes using the kind of drums he does.
@pnutskater96 no he is good but it has nothing to do with skill. companies look at musicians and ask themselves. "if we give this guy 10 000 dollars worth of drums, is he gonna make us money so that its not a lose on our part?". endorsements are given to drummers who are generally looked up to by a large group of people. sure this guy is good. but i could find hundreads of talented drummers on youtube who play DW's. the diference between this guy and lets say Cobus.
@pnutskater96 is that people look at this guy and say. "wow those drums sound good i want DW's" where as people look at Cobuc and say "wow Cobus plays DW's, that makes me want to play DW's". We all know what sounds good. the diference is you have to be able to make people want the product you promote just because of who you are.
@DavySolaris Spoken like someone who knows nothing about drums, DW make small drums with great low ends and Attack, Doesn't need to be big to be deep and punch. Plus I don't think DW would be half as good if all metal drummers used them, They thrive on making kits to suit anyone.
I think drums have a nice fat sound! I mean, you will never get a 18x20 sound out of a 26in. Bass drum, but you can get a dry punchy sound from a 18x26 bass drum if you mess with the tuning.the trick is to let the drums sound like how it is supposed to sound!
great sounding kit and im not gonna say my sonor 3005 sounds as good. But i wouldnt say difference in sound is worth that amount of money. My opinion anyway.
@MaxBS I use a Sonor kit too, and the thing about Sonor is even their cheaper lines of drums like the 507 force series, when tuned properly can sound as good as the top line kits of other brands. I use a Force 3007 kit, and I'd choose it over this one any day because it costs less, and in my honest opinion sounds better. I'm not hating on DW, I love their products, but I guess I'm just a die hard Sonor fan.
Very disappointing for a 26" kick. You must have that giant DW pillow in there? DW makes nice bass drums but they sound better when sitting behind them than they do at a distance. I quit playing DW because the shells are far too thin to project well, IMO.
I am not sure if it is the drum itself or the size or a combination of the two ... I do know that with such a big bass drum the beater will not be able to strike dead center . It strikes more like off center / bottom edge . That might have something to do with it .
i have not played an 18 before . My experience with 20`s is that they are very punchy and really easy to play . I had a Yamaha Birch Custom drumset in small sizes ... 20 , 10 , 14 .... the drums sounded great , i used them in a Top 40 dance situation ... and like i said , they were amazingly easy to play .
Now you wrong ;) The Beater is absolutly in the center of the head!! Don't forguet that I use the mic of a small camera, not a C414 microphone in front of the bassdrum.....
@willkarling Three mics just for the kick drum? AKG D112 is MUCH better than the Beta 52 will ever be and if you want something great to pair that up with, use an RE20. Keep the C414 where it belongs. Overheads, vocals, guitars, acoustic string instruments and sometimes on toms.
@key00992233 .. hmm he has a kid so I assume he has a wife which makes him not a fag. 2nd he is well off with money, he explained once, he doesn't drink, he doesn't smoke and spends his euros on music equipment and video game stuff. 3rd this guy has skills, listen to every video, he's smooth and solid and plays some great grooves.
I know it says gong drum in the title, but that drum has a bass hoop. It looks like a bass turned that way to use it as a gong drum. It does sound great, and looks killer, in fact if i had another bass drum i'd do the same. I am just saying it as I see it, maybe that brand of drum makes their gongs that way. Now here come the hater comments.
