Rounds are inexpensive, the're accurate, they'll get the job done, however, don't rely on it always have a backup weapon and learnt to use it. @gavy4247 Only to civillians I have a permit to fire, handle, carry, and kill with these weapons having severed in the gulf war and being a certified police officer I'm allowed to carry anything exept explosives, and also have a collector's permit, and a firing permit for assualt weapons. So as long as I'm not in an area controlled by the local and/or federal government (public places) I can fire these weapons, but after a zombie apocalypse that won't really matter.

I have a permit for assult weapons ... so i have everything that most people don't have, i made my basement into an armory. ASSUALT RIFLES: m4, m16, famas ak47, ak74, ak74U,ect SNIPERS:barret 50, M110, M21,ect HEAVY MGs: m240, m249, m60...ect thats just off the top of my head so if theres a zombie attack I'm set

last thing I'd advise is a sword , because to keep a sword in proper condition takes a time you don't have, clearly we know zombies aren't real but if a situation did come up, never be in melee range, period. if you do find yourself in CQB mace/hatchet and shield ( anything can be made into a shield), hit them with the shield first to set up with a sweeping strike with your weapon to the head to throw them off balance/to the floor, then run away before more come, clean your weapons after.

@RavenholmHunter not rly lol. i have 7 different swords 2 are bamboo practice ones. once you hit purple in a respectable school you are required to know how to fight with stick and knife for real life situations and any weapon of your choice but mostly for fun. . my choice was sword and numb chuck. numb chuck can be used in real life but i dont see a sword fight breaking out anytime soon until next competition lol.
you can get some good quality full tang swords with nice peened ends for round $150-$200 that will hold up nice in combat. i got my arsenal ready lol..now just have to stock up on arrows and crossbow bolts too..
KATANA for me. First off zombies are attracted to noise. I'm sure the Katana is alot more quiet than a loud shotgun going off, risking a attracting a crowd of zombies. You may not be able to run out of ammo but you can get tired, but with the lack of loud noise, you will have to kill less zombies.
12ga shells are one of the most commonly available rounds there is....personal preference I guess.....Picture this....your alone with no weapons and you see two dudes to go with. One guy has a 12gauge shotgun, the other guy has a sword...Who do you go with? I say shotgun guy, but unlike some people, Im practical.

Guns are useful BUT you need these requirements:
1) First you need to be fully trained to use for safety, effectiveness and maintenance
2) Silencer, keep it quiet so you don't attract more undead
3) Ammunition, otherwise you have an expensive club
4) Small weight and size, speed, strength and endurance is everything, the smaller the easier
5) Always have a backup melee weapon
Guns are not the answer to the undead but they are good in the sense that you kill at speed and at a distance.

last thing I'd advise is a sword , because to keep a sword in proper condition takes a time you don't have, clearly we know zombies aren't real but if a situation did come up, never be in melee range, period. if you do find yourself in CQB mace/hatchet and shield ( anything can be made into a shield), hit them with the shield first to set up with a sweeping strike with your weapon to the head to throw them off balance/to the floor, then run away before more come, clean your weapons after.

Do not get a sword.I repeat do NOT get a sword as your melee weapon.It's fantastic but only when you are dealing with another sword.There isn't gonna be any swordplay,blocking,parrying or anything of the short...So loose the thickness and two-handedness (and chance of breaking) that most swords have and get yourself a shitload of expendable-reliable cold steel machetes.They're light,unbreakable,easy on your wrist and they cut like the devil.Also encase yourself in a motorcycle body armor.

@VORTEXSWIRL 1.They never break...they might bend(search for:kukri machete destruction test).2.No you don't, most of them are just the right size.Longer/heavier blades are unwieldy and have a million downsides especially when you are not talking swordplay(no good in a room,you're bound to get it stuck somewhere while swinging).3.Yes they do but you can carry 5 for every sword you would carry and you can cut men twice as easily for an hour with each of them before you see problematic dullness.

@RavenholmHunter not rly lol. i have 7 different swords 2 are bamboo practice ones. once you hit purple in a respectable school you are required to know how to fight with stick and knife for real life situations and any weapon of your choice but mostly for fun. . my choice was sword and numb chuck. numb chuck can be used in real life but i dont see a sword fight breaking out anytime soon until next competition lol.

you can get some good quality full tang swords with nice peened ends for round $150-$200 that will hold up nice in combat. i got my arsenal ready lol..now just have to stock up on arrows and crossbow bolts too..

KATANA for me. First off zombies are attracted to noise. I'm sure the Katana is alot more quiet than a loud shotgun going off, risking a attracting a crowd of zombies. You may not be able to run out of ammo but you can get tired, but with the lack of loud noise, you will have to kill less zombies.

12ga shells are one of the most commonly available rounds there is....personal preference I guess.....Picture this....your alone with no weapons and you see two dudes to go with. One guy has a 12gauge shotgun, the other guy has a sword...Who do you go with? I say shotgun guy, but unlike some people, Im practical.

The thing everyone forgets about these melee weapons, is splatter. You -MUST- protect your face. Goggles and something to cover your mouth should do well, if you plan to use melee weapons a lot. Remember kids: If a single drop of zombie blood gets into any orifice on you, you're going to be a zombie!
