Made even more real with this economic crisis and rising unemployment numbers. That just goes to show that even if you get a degree, or have worked years for the same company, nothing is guaranteed.
The people who run these corporations consider their employees to be resources rather than people. If someone is "too expensive," they will cut them in an instant, with no regard to that employee's personal situation.
