UPDATE; I took it to a local gamestore and the man there replaced the faulty drive. it only cost me 70,so I was over the moon. Sony wanted to charge me 150. also SOny has some of the worst customer service on the planet, I pray none of you have to expeirnce it.

Yes yes i know, better tech and i agree with that. But no, turning it off doesnt cause any problems unless ur saving a game or its updating. I have no reason to believe it will be messed up.
