  • This song and Relay kick serious ass. Renoruona

  • rock aNDroll anthem

  • @MarceloOrtegaGuerrer

this and Long Live Rock and Roll by Rainbow

  • "In the blackout they dance into the aisles, and as the doors fly open even the promoter smiles..." Pete skips a line.~lol! You've got to love it though, no doubt they were singing, and playing LIVE.

  • Landslide! Rocks are falling, falling down round our very head. We tried, but you were yawning....look again - rock is dead.

Not as long as there is music by the Who it isn't. Best rock band in the world ever, bar none.

  • Moon looks wasted

  • Hahahaha, Pete Fails! He says "Someone takes his pants off and the rafters knock" two times at 3:13, both Pete and Keith laughs! Hahaha!

  • This live version appears on the BBC Sessions!

  • Jack was there first rodie and the band needed the money

  • who was jack and why did he get to sell the tickets in the ally? guess thats why he was happy!

  • haha at 3:54 you can hear its not playback when the guitarist hit the microphone :)

  • @fucklortable it is playback. its instrumental playback. its only the vocals by roger and pete that are live

  • Keith Moon. Ever heard anyone play the drums like him?

  • Every now and again I come to the conclusion that The Who really are THE GREATEST XXXX!

  • I'm sorting odds & ends while listening to Odds & Sods!!

  • Geez, I wonder if when they formed the band about 10 years ago, if they knew they'd be here in 10 years?

  • W TYM ROKU URODZIŁAM SIE888888888888888888888888888MURBAŃVZYK

  • Whispering Bob.

  • Who's the dude at the beginning of the video?

  • awesome when pete fucks it up !! rafters knock twice - that rocks !

  • @GreenhouseEffectGE i dont think that was an accident tho, he was saying it to Keith so....

  • @4evakezy Pete was drunk. There's a story about it somewhere if you look for it.

  • This dude at the beginning...whoa

  • best song ever!!

  • love ox's bass. ;-)

  • WHAT THE FUCK IS JOHN PLAYING?

  • @ClasicRko ... a Gibson Thunderbird

  • i guess the vocals were live cuz in the original p townshend sings the whole song

  • The backing track sounds like the record with the vocals removed, while they do the vocals live with it for the show.

  • Painful to watch them play air guitar. Pete and Keith definitely looked like they were having fun.

  • At their prime

  • what album is this song in? i definitely HAVE to own it.

  • @iswad420 It's on “The Kids Are Alright” soundtrack.

  • keith and pete looked drugged up to there eyeballs , especially keith lol he's off his head

  • Forget about the royal fmaily, this is the British institution.

  • 0:04 I am coming for your children

  • ONCE A MOD ALWAYS A ROCKER

  • 0:30 Replay

  • Backing tracks with live vocals. Semi-typical for some shows from this period. It cut down on the possibility of a piece of equipment failing during the performance.

  • @RocktheStageNYC Exactly what I was thinking. I can hear vocals from Pete at the end but he's nowhere near his mic and he's not singing. Thanks for commenting so I don't think it's just me.

  • @kyouell no, they are singing live the lead vocal parts. the tape has the music and backing vocals

  • Awesome!! Long live Moonie and The Ox!!!!!!

  • I don't know what the hell is live and what isn't... Pete's and Roger's vox are, but the guitars sure aren't. But love the Who whatever the fuck they do.

  • wish i could find a shirt like petes...cool

  • @talpajam Female section in the clothing department I think will do! LOL... Long live The Who!

  • Long live rock! Epic.

  • I wish I had seen this band live in their heydays (i.e. when Moon was alive). Anyhow, thank you for the posting :-)

  • Roger was the best frontman...no one did what he did on stage b/c everyone else would do it wrong

  • excellent, even with the botched lyrics, and how Pete and everyone did not worry about it.

  • Pete was such a cutie! Real hot too! I love him! ♥♥♥

  • "Place was really jumpin' to the Hi-Watt amps..." Thanks or posting.

  • "The place was really rockin' to the Hi-Watt amps..." Thanks or posting.

  • someone accidentally clicked the thumbs down button. Nobody could have done that on purpose.

  • Nice axe, John!

  • The backing vocals were probably prerecorded but the main vocals are definitely live, Pete fucks the words up in the last verse and you can clearly hear him laugh

  • @Bluesub6 nothing was pre-recorded here, in fact they were recording this track during this video.

  • @mothernaturecockbloc Wrong, only the vocals aren't prerecorded. How do you explain the piano parts with no pianist playing?

  • @ThaaWhiteShadow Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this the BBC Sessions recording?

  • @mothernaturecockbloc i thought the bbc sessions were only in the 60's?? i listen to the who too much to remember what is what now.

  • Excellent, mimed, live or however you want to believe it. It's The Who showing how full of energy they were back then and still are today. Love how John slid down the bass neck from one note to another, Keith showing off in places and of course Pete stuffing up the lyrics and Roger just out there doing what he does. Pity, it's like half mimed, half live, though the sounds live and different from the album release sound. The Who ROCK!!!

  • keith's not wearing his fake tooth!

  • Pete got the achivement of sing and mime while being drunk.

Unfortunelly, they were miming this time out and Mr. Townshend is drunk in the record 'cos he's forgotten some lyrics and he looks VERY drunk in this video...

  • @Alexeiyeah they were ALL probobly very drunk. i think the vocals are live, but the music is mimed.

  • @yooperwholigan13 Dunno. Look how John is away from the mic and yet you can hear him..

  • Interesting for archeology reasons this, but...lookin'at this performance ,rock was dying indeed.

Thisis just one of those cliché tunes with 'rock'in the title.

At least The Stones, still had Goats Head Soup around this time.

  • who is the best there ever will be. go listen to cobus and bloat about how "talented" he is.

  • I find it funny how Pete is looking at Keith while singing "Someone takes his pants off and the rafters knock" hahahaha

  • @Drevil166 He messed up and sang the same line twice

  • @Drevil166 I'm trying to find it but as I remember there is a story about that line in the song being a direct reference to something Moonie did.

  • @Drevil166 Pete did that because he messed up the lyric...

  • @Drevil166 I dont think he looks at Keith because of the lyrics. I think he looks at Keith because Pete sang the lyrics wrong. Not surprising though, as Pete seems to be pretty wasted here. And of course, Im sure Keith is too.

  • @Drevil166 actually, its not quite that....Pete messes up that verse...he starts with the "Hiwatt amps" line and then prematurely sings the "someone takes his pants off" line.....and then realizing his mistake, jokingly turns around toward the band and sings the correct "...pants" line again, while trying to keep from busting up.... :0

  • @Drevil166 Noo he was looking at all of them because he messed up! Hahaha

  • @Drevil166

Keith was laughing at Pete getting the lyrics wrong.

    Obviously not lip syncing.

  • The vocals are live, the music isn't. They're singing along to backing tracks.

  • @devtrev

i think they might have pre- recorded the whole thing but only because television sets at the time could not handle the greatness of the who

  • it's live. look how pete mess's up the lyrics on the last verse. but it sounds like keith's playing a hihat, when it looks like hes hitting the ride... so i don't know

  • @jimmyfik the fact that there's no mics on the drums gives it away that the music is pre recorded.

  • This is fun :)

  • Puyol also sings

  • @tiaobarrero lol, when i was watchin Spain matchs i kept thinking " Puyol is reminding me of someone..."

  • nao sabia que Puyol tambem cantava!!!!!

  • If that's entirely live then who's playing piano? Still fun to watch.

  • Bob harris ....lol. Stoner. Still not convinced this is 'live'. Thanx.

  • @recman1207 How can you not be convinced? Pete blew his second verse...

  • a double released late spring and summer missus locicero

  • Who is the guy talking at the beginning

  • @123rockdrummer ....bob harris

  • @lovelyflares

    thanks

been wondering for years who that guy was
