This song was written in a matter of minutes as a last minute 'filler' to complete their second album, 'War Pigs'. Once they recorded it, they must have realised what they had so they changed the title of the album to 'Paranoid' and the rest is history.

No, I was right the first time. I knew the facts, just couldn't 'prove' it to you, but in Ozzy's new book he spells it out just as I said. They wrote Paranoid in 20 minutes as a 'filler' to make up album time, but realised they'd written a possible hit single. It made No4 on UK pop charts and the album title was changed to benefit from sales of the single. The album sold 4 million copies in the US alone off the back of the single's airplay.

I think it also shows how much people don;t really know Black Sabbath and Ozzy, from that period. Ozzy had the habit of changing words in songs, while playing live. He would also switch around verses of songs. Anything to shock the crowd.
