@blite13 Fishy? No. Actually, during the fight after every round the scorecards were being shown actually. OJ Simpson was actually reading out the judges' score cards during the live fight. The score cards were 9-3, 8-4, 7-4-1. Ali won this by a mile, not to mention the ref saved Frazier from being knocked out by Ali in the second round by cutting the round too short. Now THAT is fishy since some people had put bets on Frazier.
@vladiator100 Hey, how many fights have you seen where the announcement is " The winner is" ? Every fight I have ever seen has " Judge Knob scores it....Judge Dick scores it...." Yeah, that kind of makes it a little fishy in my book. Ali didn't win this fight going away. It was in NY where points are scored for who is pressing the fight, points are taken away for grabbing and holding which Ali was doing all night. Ali was pitty patting and holding behind the head all night.
@blite13 He won it no matter how much you try to deny it. You mention all the things Ali did but what about Frazier? The ref inexplicably stopped the round when Ali was close to a knock out when Frazier was staggered and back to the ropes in the second round. Or what about Frazier hitting Ali below the hips all night? You are clearly a Frazier fan. Ali won it and won the trilogy. Get over it man. It was an amazing trilogy and Frazier was one of Ali's greatest enemies.
@vladiator100 Frazier wasn't going to be Ko'd, sure he was hurt, Ali couldn't put Joe down, that was proven in 3 fights. The reason Joe hit Ali low a couple of times was because of Ali always pulling his head down. Ali would never get away with that in a properly Ref'd fight. Points should be taken from a fighter who pulls the back of the head and who is doing as much holding as Ali is in this fight. Not even a warning from Perez, wonder why? Then the " winner is.."= Ali vs Foreman
Joe losing Durham and Ali being able to hold with no warnings or points taken....really slowed this fight compared to the 1st one. Ali really pitty patting. Pitty Pat, grab, pitty pat grab and the ref did nothing. Joe didn't cut the ring and make him pay like he did the 1st fight. Dunphy is even more biased in this fight than the 1st, says Ali is dominating the fight a Rd and a half into the fight? Perez ruined this fight, it's a grab fest. Boring fight for these 2 fighters.
Ali easily outclassed Frazier in this bout, although credit goes to Frazier for always pressing the action, taking Ali's best shots seemingly unfazed, and delivering the best shots, which Ali took very well. Frazier should have picked up the intensity earlier, unfortunately waiting until the second half. He left himself open too much however, having a bad 9th round. I score it 10-1-1 Ali, with Frazier winning only the 8th and the 7th being a draw.
@musiclover59 Ali outclassed him? STFU. He sure out grabbed him and out pitty patted him...Ali was hurt more than Joe was, Joe pressured, as Dunphy explained, that should have been included in the scoring. 22:03, prime example, pitty pat that doesn't land. As Dunphy pointed out, aggresiveness counts as points as does holding takes away points, looks like the judges forgot that. This fight was fixed for Ali to face Foreman...it was the biggest payday...but outclassed? HARDLY.

What were the scores? The announcer says the decision goes to Ali with no reading of the cards? Nothing fishy about that?

ali holds to prevent frazier getting full swing punches to the body

I guess the judges forgot that body punches also count.
