hey travis, its giving me an error saying "Type a Command" should use a @string resource and there is a yellow under-line. Please tell me what wrong i am doing ?
if your 'android:hint' gets a yellow line under it, it means you have to create a string variable under 'values' like we in one of the fist tutorials and reference it the quotes.
@shaxaary1 I got mine working after a couple of hours trying to figure it out. With mine it was that i hadn't typed in the whole package path in the forName parameter. gl mate
so you are telling me that Ive been manually typing out the interface in the layout.xml files when i could have been using the graphical one to just drag and drop on everything i need? i mean i understand we need to know how to do it the other way but we are living in the future, eclipse gave us these tools lets use them!
I was having the same problem that several people mentioned already, the app would force quite after the splash screen. I do not know what exactly caused this problem but I was able to fix it by going into the manifest and changing the Intent name from .MENU to .ME and then changing the splash file to .ME as well. Then I was able to run the program with no problems. After that I switched it back to .MENU and it worked. Like I said I have no idea why this worked but you may want to try it.
@colombiak Yes, this is correct in terms of this tutorial so far. To add - in the general sense, the purpose of XML files is to store data which can be exchanged later between whoever would need this data (e.g. applications/processes). For example, two applications can exchange XML files between them if they need to synchronize their data.
@rockersadriana this is because XML files are most convenient to describe any type of data and the XML format is common. (Note: it is not necessary for XML files to be exchanged, they can be created, used and even deleted by the same process).

I'm looking at these tutorials the day that I see they're on. Usually I see them being uploaded, watch some, pause, watch some more, pause. And then I don't get to see all the uploads (10-15) on one day since I had a lot of pauses, so I go on in night. Because I MUST watch tutorials.
LOL!

@jacktrow1 It means you >>should<< create a separate string for it. Yellow is for warnings, you can ignore those if you want.

I'm starting to get this,
XML is how you set the look, appearance, and structure
Java: actions, classes which makes ur bottons actually do something.
Android Manifest is where u point things out like classes and such.
