Thing is: No one felt bad for what happened to him, b/c he was being a shit. Most important: He never carried on like that again. . .

Little did the officer know that the glass would break so easily, if he realized it was a window at all. The criminal, it appears, tried to put his hands up against the [window], but it broke. That is all that happened. This man was way out of line; the officer acted appropriately.

That officer was doing his job, and doing it right. That glass is supposed to be safety glass, the kind that is at least a 1/4 inch thick and unbreakable. It shouldn't have broken like it did. The perpetrator was in all likelihood close to assaulting somebody, and the police officer's prompt action kept this from happening. I don't use BART, but I've heard from people that do that it is getting increasingly dangerous to do so, due to the amount of undesirables in the trains and the stations.

No resistence from the drunk guy and the cop treats him as if he was asaulted. This video is an example why people are scared of them. I see a lawsuit.
Run the video carefully and you'll notice the drunk initiates right arm movement at the last moment giving him an enlarged profile which based upon the officer's wall-targeted-movement resulted in the normal arrest force being applied through the drunk's body to the glass. Had the arm not been extended the glass would have never mattered.

Number one, there is no possible way the cop would have known he was insane.

No one deserves to be thrown through a window. I don't believe the cop intended for his head to go through the window. Turns out the victim is certified bipolar schizo off his medication. I don't think race had anything to do with it. The comments of the other guy overheard on tape seriously enhance a police brutality settlement. That guy is an ass!

We need this sort of police presence on trains in LA (specifically the Blue Line). I've been subjected and witnessed more gangster shakedowns, intimidation and knife wielding. There are never any cops on the LA trains when they are truly needed. The Sheriff team is too busy busting people on the platforms for not having tickets. Lame.
I'm glad SF/Oakland cops are around to protect the passengers.

Also, anyone dumb enough to basically act like they were going to hijack a train in modern society deserves to get his head smashed against shock-resistance glass until the glass breaks anyway. The government has enough shit to worry about without our own civilians acting like idiots.

That officer was doing his job, and doing it right. That glass is supposed to be safety glass, the kind that is at least a 1/4 inch thick and unbreakable. It shouldn't have broken like it did. The perpetrator was in all likelihood close to assaulting somebody, and the police officer's prompt action kept this from happening. I don't use BART, but I've heard from people that do that it is getting increasingly dangerous to do so, due to the amount of undesirables in the trains and the stations.

Protect cops from what? This cop was doing his job, which is to protect the innocent, and he did it right. Have you ever had training on how to restrain an uncooperative individual? I have. The police officer did everything right. It just so happens that nowadays a lot of people want to disregard the law and the rules of civilized society, in order to do their own thing at their leisure. That's not how it works, and that's why there have been more confrontations with law enforcement.

The drunk guy ask who wants to play king of the mountain, he's asked to leave, the drunk turns to exit and is grabbed by a cop who over reacts, then slamed into the glass. No resistence from the drunk guy and the cop treats him as if he was asaulted. This video is an example why people are scared of them. I see a lawsuit.

Run the video carefully and you'll notice the drunk initiates right arm movement at the last moment giving him an enlarged profile which based upon the officer's wall-targeted-movement resulted in the normal arrest force being applied through the drunk's body to the glass. Had the arm not been extended the glass would have never mattered.

OMG.. the cop tried to throw the guy thru the window! Wait... no he didn't... 18 secs into the video you see the guy windup his right arm and thrust his arm and his body out of the window. Why is it that feel this was orchestrated by the guy and the guy with the cell phone camera. You'll also see something dangling from the broken window when the cop pulls the guy back and onto the ground.

I suppose he also threw himself to the ground, pulling the officer down with him, and forced the police officer into a position that makes him look like he is restraining him. Try to spend some time learning the difference between the motions of being pushed and pulling someone with you - something most of us learned as a baby.
