What would people do if they lost their faith in religion, race, creed, and a need for revenge. They could always just love the Almighty God and Christ and do the right thing; but that would be too easy.
In the 80s the music was the central focus more than image. But music today still is great. There is so much of it people don't hear. But I still hear great music every now and then. Every generation has great music.
I hate how people always say the 80's were the best! I wouldn't be surprised if people back in the 80's were saying the 80''s suck. The 80's are fine and all, but they were a bit repeitive on love, kind of similar to today. The reason why I love the 90's so much was because it expanded to other genres and most 90's songs I know have deep meanings and this song is no different. I wish artists would stop making so much songs about love; we get it the girl dumped you, move on.
My love song to a new girlfriend. We were together maybe three weeks when this song hit the charts. Just when Christmas time came around, too! Not a month into it all, there I am at a traditional Polish dinner. 11 differe fish on Christmas Day, eaten using two forks. If you ever read this, pussycat, do know that your Yankee boy never forgot you.
Never saw no miracle of scienceThat didn't go from a blessing to a curseNever saw no military solutionThat didn't end up as something worse butLet me say this first
If I ever lose my faith in you(If I ever lose my faith in you)There'd be nothing left for me to do(There'd be nothing left for me to do)
@ShaiqNBaiq5464 I used play to my daughter "Message In A Bottle" when she was a baby, she always quickly opened her eyes and put a big smile in her face. She likes Sting since baby!
Look and listen carefully at this video. In SPITE of all affliction MANKIND has the FAITH to carry on. There is SOMETHING in which we all believe. I will not lose my faith in HUMANITY . DECENCY WILL come to EARTH.. Wait and see.
@darrenhenderson3 That's cool if you want the song to mean that for you. But that's not what Sting was singing about. He's not Christian... "There's no religion but sex and music." - According to Sting.
@darrenhenderson3 I know Sting isn't a Christian, but this song to me expressed how I feel about God. So I hear what you're saying. Funny, the songs that tap into that feeling of inspiration in your soul, isn't it.
@dreamersfind Troubadour is a great way to describe him. He's a very versatile performer. I'm thinking of one song which hit all the high points, so to speak: jazz, classical, rock - all in one song!
Artists today could reproduce 90s style music again if they REALLY wanted to. All they would have to do is start using those old instruments, and start coming up with some new tunes and new songs that are in line with 90s style. It could be done. But they won't. They are afraid they will lose money as it is not "up-to-date" with the times.
@isometric85 nope. I totally agree. I thought it was only me; that I was hallucinating or something. They should make more movies with that same visual style, I miss it. Whatever it is this video has it.
@isometric85 ... just a joke! It's certainly more because people like Michel Gondry and Spike Jonze were making music videos, rather than so called actual 'artists' that believe in soft porn, money and hype brands all the way to sell their 'music'...
@isometric85 The unique visual style is called "only 3% CGI" Aka the rest of what you see is props. Aka, he's actually sitting in a chair, in the ocean. It's not computer water. =P
@rockymarinus the real music is still out there... just tha most of it is unsigned.... tha way it should be really.... no-one owns music...... let us take it back from those greedy record comanies and set it free once more... yeah!... :)

Sting could write books with one verse.
Nobody takes the police seriously.
It's too bad, and Sting turned out to be another pampered establishment joke.
But lyrically Sting was second only to the Beatles, back when rock was for real.
