Tuning a Nitro engine on a Savage X/XL

i have a ? if someone has an answer....26 sportwerks motor, i got it under the impression it was broken in...it really wasent...i ran about 2 tanks through it before opening it up...never tuning it...i just recentley found out that it was never tuned..can i tune it now? after running it for so long being rich?

Of course you can. Most nitro engines need to be retuned every time out. This is only for minor adjustments to the high speed needle.

hallo I have an savage 25 and have some motor problems when I pull the kontroller in full power in the first time it have problems wirh driving it is like you said in the film in 2.10 min. and I never get it in full power, and I have some problems with my akcelleration it cant stand in to weels when I take full power I want to get it so good that yours car is but I dont knew what I shud fiks.

@ carlito977 well 1. It could be your low speed needle or your idle needle turn your idle COUNTER clockwise see if that helps if not put it back where u had it and then do the same for the low speed if it improves that would be it. If not vice versa

the guide isn't for savage Xss and XL

the guide is good only for s21, s25, F3.5, F4.1, F4.6 engins

savage X ss and the savage XL have K4.6 K5.9 engines that have the Mid Range Needle that thare isn't in the guide

I dont know anyone who touches their mid-range needle. If you touch your mid range you pretty much have to retune. In short this video will work and will work on any engine because it teaches you the basics of tuning.

hey i dont have a savage but i dont think it matters my truck has a size 18 motor just wondering if anyone could tell me a factory or preset for my high and low speed valves to start tuning from engine is allready ran in but my little brother messed with my vales and i cant seem to get it right im guess 3 turns out for low endand 2n a half for high speed am i right?

hey dude I had the same problem I broke my back and after all the breaking in I did when I accelerated the engine would stall dont worry dude take out the glow plug tip the car upside down and drill it lots of fuel will come this fix your problem sorry for it being so long

guys I got mine about 3 days ago the first day i broke it in then tuned it the second day my glow plug started not working well and now i fixed the glow plug a little bit but i messed up the needles as i was looking for the problem for the not starting.. today during the afternoon i started it but it kept on shutting off and when i removed the glow plug there was smoke coming out the little hole where the cylinder is any ideas help me please :/ !

hi, im having trouble keeping my engine running. when i start it, it will idle without a prob. very fast to accelerate and brilliant top speed. when i bring it back to me for fuel or anything it will cut out and its very hard to restart. plug and igniter are 100%. seems like it dries up on fuel or something. is it my tuning? i cant find base settings to retune. anybody know what needs adjusting? please help. i cant solve this one. thanks. oh and its a cold plug thats in it.

maybe your fuel filter is plugged up or something internal is warn out wich will only run on higher revs and makes the engine stall when stationairy (could be anything from bearring to piston)

@AthyMick so what your saying is is that when you you run for like maybe 5-10 minz it stalls and cuts out and is hard to start up again, then you have most likely ran it far too lean and shot the engine, you will either have too get a new engine or buy a new engine sleeve and piston. 1 way to check if its shot is to spin the fly wheel when the engine is cold, if it doesnt get stuck or is not hard to spin, then its shot.hope this helps:)

@dogjerrly sounds like its to lean or shot, to check if is shot, spin your fly wheel when the engine is cold. if itdoesnt get stuck or isnt hard to spin, then its shot. hope this helps.

Don't use 10% nitro on this vehicle. You will do damage. For this vehicle run 20% to 30%. If you are a every day runner 20% is fine. If you are a racer 30% might be for you.

I have just got my HPI savage, my first RC Nitro car. I flooded the engine accidentally, remove the glow plug, turn the engine of and got drops of nitro all over my face - one of them easily could of gone in my eye. I will always wear glasses when i flood the engine now.

Because the fuel is poisonous and the methanol in the fuel can go through your skin in your body. That's the reason.

by the way. These gloves are so called "nitrile gloves" which are always used in laboratories if you work with methanol and other carcinogen ( cancer causing ) chemicals

i got a savage x 4.6 and the engine is working fine but my electronics don't work atm, when i was driving it, i would press for acceleration it would go then stop and be all delayed, but now it dont work at all, i have brand new Duracell batteries in the truck and controller they both turn on but when i move the steering or throttle and brake nothing happens anybody know why?

If your engine is overheating you have it leaned out to much... leaning it out take fuel out of the mixture resulting in less oil to lube the engine. Try richening the engine up some and you should see you temps go down. If not it's possible you have an air leak.
