as long as there are people age 16-30, there will always be hipsters. Its a youth culture centered around being transgressive, so I see nothing wrong with it. The only stereotype of a hipster I hate is one who is low in intelligence and needs something to belong to, to feel good about themselves. Someone who doesnt really have any passion about their interests.

I know a lot of hipsters myself. their not all bad. A younger generation trying to make a difference I suppose. They live in a world where everything has pretty much been done and said and they pretty much pick up the slack. ( i.e Idea, Fashion ect) probably why some many shop at goodwill and other 2nd hand stores. Theres some pretty neat stuff in there if you ever have the time to go through some of the racks. but the problem is some dont and some of these little hipsters dont understand that.

I think some do fail to realize that some people of older generations that they may consider simple and of less knowledge did not grow up with everything that is around these days. But instead paved the way so it was easier for these 'hipsters.' They tend to forget that at one time support groups, social networks, and so on were not around. at one time being 'different' wasn't easy and occasionally the death of you.

Hipsters actually started in the late 40s with the Beatnicks. They were a precursor to the hippies. Hippies started in the mid 60s. And they were originally a Christian movement.
