Obviously the new ones are better choreographed fights so by default, the new ones are superior. But if your taking just the "Oh shit" factor and the intrigue, some of the older ones would score higher. And no way is the Darth Maul fights better than EITHER of the Dooku/Anakin/Obi fights. @iamsoooosweet2468 Yoda may have been 900 years old, but he still was able to harness the most Force power out of any Jedi in the order, thus letting him pull off all of those flashy moves. That being said, it was a waste of his power to do so. Flashy moves are just that, flashy with no real practical purpose. If he was going for an intimidation factor, he got it.

I have to say I still like the Darth Maul fight more than Obi-Wan vs. Anakin, because it still does look the most like a real swordfight... Dunno its just my opininion, even though the latter did have alot more psychological conflict, Master vs. Apprentice, Brother vs. Brother, Friend vs. Friend... But as I said, #2 is still top for me.
whatever you think of the 1-3, they had some amazing saber battles. obi-wan vs. anikin stands out as an amazingly tense moment in my life. the "i got the high ground" moment was kinda hokey, but that whole fight was sorta something i was waiting to see since i was a kid and it didn't disappoint.
@MrSeanmcgall yoda couldve beaten dooku had dooku not run, but remember at the time of ROTS anakin is a level 9 in lightsaber combat, (same level as yoda, palpatine and mace) and arguably the best of his time.
@HohHoch Palpatine isnt that bad lol. Idk if youve read the books but palpatine has force insight so he can see into the future and know what will happen when. Palpatine knew he couldn't beat mace 1v1 in lightsaber alone, and rather than just easily kill him with the force he let mace beat him so when anakin came he could completely engross him into the dark side.
Return of the Jedi wins. I know it's not the best choreographed, and not the most exciting, but it is absolutely the most compelling. Plus, I do enjoy the old fashioned broad sword style of fighting.

@kaylalun123 They were trying to portray Sidious to be powerful, but it came out to be that the Jedi looked incompetant with two Masters being killed in the first three seconds, and the attacks made from Sidious could have been easily countered, because they were quite slow and awkward.
Even without the awesome choreography, I'd put Vader vs Luke (both of them) in top 2, simply because they had much more meaning to them than this prequel shit.
You're over-critical on the prequels, the prequels were fantastic, most prequels are fails but the star wars one was great, it made perfect sense & went into the sequels.
Obi vs Anakin will be the best one, because it actually had meaning to it aswell & it was brilliantly choreographed, Best star wars duel hands down
@redtib2003 For the end fight in Revenge of the Sith, Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christenson practiced and choreographed their fight for months. It was a lot of hard work for the actors in the prequel. But it was SO worth it! Amazing fights!
lightsaber fights arent about cool settings and super choreographed fighting...theyre about the emotion and symbolisim. in return of the jedi when looks is just whaling on vader and screams, is one of the most iconic moments ever in movie history.

Besides all the fights have meaning despite what you Prequel haters would like to think .The Dooku battles foreshadow Anakin's fall,Windu against Palpatine is key to how powerful Palpatine really is,and Anakin vs Obi-Wan really brings out the gut-wrenching anguish.
I'd argue with you about there being no emotion in any of the Prequel duels (As I think there is in a couple of them, not necessarily all of them), but I get the feeling that that would probably be like trying to convince a fundamentalist Christian that the theory of evolution is true.
Darth Vader vs. obi wan episode 4 their moves are nothing compared to episode 3 think about it they fought like crazy in episode 3 and episode 4 seems like their just bored

As awesome as light saber fights are, when you really watch what they do it seems really repetitive, and almost slow paced.
The animated The Old Repeblic trailers did a good job of making the fights longer and more fast paced.
Next time they make a star wars movie they should use people with tons of martial arts and sword fights experience

I have to say I still like the Darth Maul fight more than Obi-Wan vs. Anakin, because it still does look the most like a real swordfight... Dunno its just my opininion, even though the latter did have alot more psychological conflict, Master vs. Apprentice, Brother vs. Brother, Friend vs. Friend... But as I said, #2 is still top for me.

whatever you think of the 1-3, they had some amazing saber battles. obi-wan vs. anikin stands out as an amazingly tense moment in my life. the "i got the high ground" moment was kinda hokey, but that whole fight was sorta something i was waiting to see since i was a kid and it didn't disappoint.

@MrSeanmcgall yoda couldve beaten dooku had dooku not run, but remember at the time of ROTS anakin is a level 9 in lightsaber combat, (same level as yoda, palpatine and mace) and arguably the best of his time.

@HohHoch Palpatine isnt that bad lol. Idk if youve read the books but palpatine has force insight so he can see into the future and know what will happen when. Palpatine knew he couldn't beat mace 1v1 in lightsaber alone, and rather than just easily kill him with the force he let mace beat him so when anakin came he could completely engross him into the dark side.

Return of the Jedi wins. I know it's not the best choreographed, and not the most exciting, but it is absolutely the most compelling. Plus, I do enjoy the old fashioned broad sword style of fighting.

@kaylalun123 They were trying to portray Sidious to be powerful, but it came out to be that the Jedi looked incompetant with two Masters being killed in the first three seconds, and the attacks made from Sidious could have been easily countered, because they were quite slow and awkward.

You're over-critical on the prequels, the prequels were fantastic, most prequels are fails but the star wars one was great, it made perfect sense & went into the sequels.
Obi vs Anakin will be the best one, because it actually had meaning to it aswell & it was brilliantly choreographed, Best star wars duel hands down

@redtib2003 For the end fight in Revenge of the Sith, Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christenson practiced and choreographed their fight for months. It was a lot of hard work for the actors in the prequel. But it was SO worth it! Amazing fights!

lightsaber fights arent about cool settings and super choreographed fighting...theyre about the emotion and symbolisim. in return of the jedi when looks is just whaling on vader and screams, is one of the most iconic moments ever in movie history.

@3056398 Yes they are about good choreographing just as much as they symbolism,otherwise it's too easy to wonder why one of them didn't just use the force and choke the other,as is the case with #10.
Besides all the fights have meaning despite what you Prequel haters would like to think .The Dooku battles foreshadow Anakin's fall,Windu against Palpatine is key to how powerful Palpatine really is,and Anakin vs Obi-Wan really brings out the gut-wrenching anguish.

I'd argue with you about there being no emotion in any of the Prequel duels (As I think there is in a couple of them, not necessarily all of them), but I get the feeling that that would probably be like trying to convince a fundamentalist Christian that the theory of evolution is true.
