  • what is that song????? cant find it

  • so how exactly did you do this becasue i have the same mower..... did you put a bigger pulley on the engine and a smaller on the trans.??

  • how do you make it that fast

  • If you tie a string onto the throttle on the carb you can get max rpm's instead of leaning forward and moving it with your hands.

  • song?

  • @ranger2hpking your gonna go far kid

  • @fatald3th I'm sure it's too late to put my two cents in on this but my suggestion would be much simpler. Just get two sets of pulleys. Small in front, big in back = torque, vice versa for speed.

  • ok ive been looking around for like racing parts and i found stuff but i have no clue how to install it so if you could make a vid

  • @TheRilley1313 There is no "Racing parts" Dumbass You change the pulleys Put a BIG one on the Front/Engine and a tiny one on the rear end and tada you got a badass mower. its a btich changing them on a old mower but its worth it

  • nice vid

  • What is the fist song Right at the start???

  • @deathraiderlol "You're gonna go far kid" - The Offspring

  • is that a kevlar belt ???

  • great vid

  • I am making one now, do you just need to change the pulleys to make it acheive that speed? and what gear ration do you recomend?

  • me and my one friend r going to build one when his dad gets the mower any tips

  • nice what size pulleys cause i got a murray riding mower with a 12.5hp Briggs and i was wondering what size pulleys to use, but this one is bad ass

  • I like the song never heard it before. Wow that is pretty fast

  • i have the same mower but it lit on fire so i turn into a go kart

  • Yeah, i deffinatly had a junk tractor, but we didnt take the time to make it fast, we just painted it and went mudding. But after a while we got bored, we started jumping it and hitting trees, but then my buddy thought it would be fun to take it up a mound of dirt, he flipped it on top of him. But we ended up frying the tranny, hah, it was stuck in 1st gear, so i am looking for another, mind on telling me what exactly you did?

  • i like the video...I have my own racing craftsman that only goes about 30 but in your description you said something about having to lean forward to and pull to bypass the governor I don't know if you did this or someone else gave you the tip but what i did on mine was tie a string the switch so you can pull it from my seat....also what sized pulleys did you use?

  • i like the video...I have my own racing craftsman that only goes about 30 but in your description you said something about having to lean forward to and pull to bypass the governor I don't know if you did this or someone else gave you the tip but what i did on mine was tie a string the switch so you can pull it from my seat....also what sized pulleys did you use?

  • nice lawnmower, me and my dad is trying to make a drag raceing mower out of a really old mower and a newer 1

  • Great video 5 stars.

  • i suggest getting an old 60s model mower that isnt belt driven. mine is a 61 cub cadet 7horse and i have a snowmobile track with 1.25" lugs wrapped around my rear tires. let me tell you she can go through some mud, not puddles either i mean thick mud. plus she can pull. obv. not on dry pavement. my buddies set ups are different. one kid studded his tires, and the other has dual ag tires on the rear, which is def. your best bet. stud them if you can then your SET. n youve already won 2/3 events

  • I noticed that you have a gearshift lever between your legs and another one on the fender. This is a little confusing. Is the stock transmission still there just with a modified shifter, or is it a special gearbox.

  • The one between my legs is the gear shifter and the one on my right is the brakes. its hooked to the trans break.

  • @lobsterbox20 its a shift on the go lever mines got 1

  • nice

  • Mudding/Pulling/Speed are different Test that require different setup so you should try to average out between the three.

Such as, Having enough wieght for traction and not too much to sink in the mud. and not too much for the acceleration

BIG tires for faster speeds and better mud/pulling/speed-setup!

You engine sounds like it needs torque more than all out top end.

the hardest eqaution is going to be gearing////You will have to manage a trans with low end gears / yet High end gear

  • i would put a foot throttle on it i think it would be easier. and i think 30 is about as fast as I would wanna go on a riding mower lol.

  • Great video Paul awesome song 6stars outa 5... if i could haha

  • haha, thanks Ben!

  • pussys have breakes

  • i know right.

  • good job! i like the song

  • ..thank you

  • how did u make it go fast

  • @TRX700XX4ever replace the pulleys on the transaxle, their usually about a 7-9 inch, replace it with a 3-4 inch and a new belt and youll add about 20mph to your speed limit, and to get more speed, replace the pullet under neath the motor as well, but you want to make that one a bigger pully so about 9 inch and up just remember dont make your belt tooo tight our ur clutch wont work

  • @dylanbab6 the trans axle only has ONE pulley. you need to stay in the same parameter of diameter pulleys most common clutch movement is little to nothing, however is you change belts then you can run extreme differences from whatever you want. I use a thick ass v belt from napa.

  • nicely put

  • thank you.

  • why do you have to be like every other moronic youtuber and put crappy music to a video that obviously begs to be heard. Anybody interested in a racing lawnmower at all wants to hear it, not some cheesy song.

Please think before you post a vid next time.

    (flame away people)

  • what do you have done to your mower? this makes me wanna get one.

  • i have what it takes to haul ass and beyond that was some exhuast work and basic maintance and then show like lights etc

  • haa, details, this setup is the best iv seen.

  • haha thanks bro...i have stock 17hp single cylinder kohler with a 490cc displacment and a good compression ratio...so the engine has always had too much power...it has put my 260Lb brother-in-law on his ass...haha The crack pulley is a 6in and the trans has a 2inch...its a five speed peerless. the trans break used to be the primary stopping source until the pad burnt up after 25stops at 50mph...now i just down shift.

  • the exhuast used to be a 450ktm tail pipe running straight out of the header... the it can off and lundged into the ground throwing me and the mower across a feild. Now it has 2 battierys...and i need to restore the starter and alternator???or magneto whatever the fuck this thing charges the bat with..its going bad from the strobe and fog lights draining the amps....other than that just basic maintance like tires and oil/filter plug etc

  • how far from mercer lake are you? i rowed there last spring and am working on my race mower just need the pulleys and to weld a disc on the rear axle for disk breaks

  • never heard of it man

  • sorry was thinking of the wrong lake what I meant to say was lake lanier

  • Yea man i live right up the road from the lake!!!!!!

  • nice we are going there not this spring but next and by that point my mower should be done. my goal is to have it lowered a couple of inches and top speed of around 30+ with a 6 on the front and a 3 on the back but right now i have no breaks

  • who needs breaks lol jk

  • i love the fuck out of this song

  • ill race ya

  • bring it bro

  • where do i get the pulleys?????

what put a big pulley on the engine axle and a small one on the transmission?

  • Yes, to get more speed you would put a large pully on the engine shaft and a smaller one on the transmission. If you wanted more torque and less speed you would put a small pully on the engine shaft and a large one on the transmission.

  • dance fucker dance!

  • music is sick same with the mower nice vid

  • Hey man I posted on another one of your vids and asked about pulleys. My only other question is do you think it would be possible to use the stock transmission from a 2 or so year-old craftsman lt1000? (it's a 6 speed manual)

  • yea bro ...its possible but i would want to grease it up...

  • alright thanks I'll give it a shot

  • whats the second song???

  • u dont kno how bad i want to make my mower fast ive got a murry wide body with a 14hp v twin vanguard on it i juss dont got the money for the pullys

  • whats the first song??

  • its offspring....your gonna fare kid..

  • hey man i got a murray lawn tractor that dose 27mph without the tensioner pulley and i need to get a brake hock up that can stop it but i cant figure it out any advice nice mower by the way

  • racing gokart brakes work really well. they make differant sizes for what you need. a little custom brake caliper mount will work

  • i know man that would be sexy....plus the standard 3inch trans brake wears out in 20 stops because it cant handel the speeds/

  • what size pullys do you have in the frount and the back?

  • I need to find a broke down tractor so that I can get one built. I want to start a lawn tractor racing association (LTRA) around here soon. We have garden tractor pulls, but no racing!!!!

    Nice video man!!!

  • can u make a video of how u did that? i would really like to get my mower doing over 4mph but still have that low gear.

  • did u do anything to the transmission besides change the pulleys?

  • custom shift linkages.

  • oh well i dont have any relatives there but even still i love visiting up there

  • nice i gotta lotta relatives up ther what town u in:)

  • Gainesville

  • Hey did you have to redo the steering because i hear if you don't you can really hurt your self

  • its best to. but i havent.

all depends on the mowers stock steering...how much camber it has and how tight it holds up at speeds

  • also if it has steering slop or weak ball joint type steering it could break appart. most lawn mowers are weaker but bigger garden tractors are stronger. if i were you i would of lowered it!

  • i want to put shifter kart tires and lower it and all

  • Nice my racing mower is really low they look cool low to the ground also i set the hood rake pretty high so now the airfilter sticks out of the hood and i got a air scoop on there to it looks pretty sick i might make a small slide show tonight and upload it if i got time

  • man your gonna lower it? it's cool like it is lol.

  • are yu in north carolina? the reason i ask is the hills and turns, and the way the trees look, it looks like yur in the mountains

  • haha

it does look that why,.,,but naw bro

    im in north GA

  • dude i livein braselton,GA in Jackson County

  • cool man!

  • wat neigbour hood do u live in

  • does any 1 no where u can get the bigger pulley for the engine or even a smaller 1 for the back on the transmission. iv been lookin every where an i cant find 1 for a craftsman.

  • Just go to tractor suply and get a pully for what ever bore those shafts are.

  • Thats what i did!~!

but mine local TS only had 7in and smaller

  • that should work i dont see why it wouldnt i dont know much about gear ratios but if you wanted to you can switch the origional ones if the shafts fit and make it go fast as shit. but then u wana race prep the transaxle/ tranny

  • Figure out the shaft sizes. then go to tractor suply and look for the pullys that have the same shaft size in what ever size you want. then make sure you have the belt that goes to it or get a new belt and merry cristmass

  • hook u up a throttle

  • wow, im in love :D

  • where can we see this video of "45mph" with a GPS? sounds like an outright lie to me. 33 sounds possible, still that seems high.

  • why you gotta be a dick?

  • yea i guess that was kinda mean. sorry about that

  • nice mower man but i was wondering where did you get the pullys from? and is a spicer transmission pretty much the same as the peerless?

  • so what engine does it have?

  • kohler command

    ohv

    17hp

    exhaust mod

    stock internals.

  • I have that same model mower, what did you do to make it go so damn fast?

  • you mod the pulleys

    by changing size

i dont want to get in detail over comments

  • can you tell me everything you did,

    like what to do

    everything

i got one at home with alot of land,

so can you tell me what to do,

    like everything!!!!!

  • first, what is the song playing

second, did you just switch the pulleys to speed it up, or what did you do?

  • song-your gonna go far kid

yea you could say that i just switched the pulley but i didnt because they have different size shafts.

but yea you change the size of them to increase speed.

  • i lawled at the gay music lol

  • how did u put the governor on the throttle

  • the engine has a built in governor that is interlaced with the throttle.....

    its a stock throttle setup!

  • best song ever nice work

  • Thank you man.

    KEEP CHECKING FOR VIDEOS

    SOON

I WILL HAVE A UPDATE ON SOME NEW SLICKS I HAVE ON THE FRONT

AND ME AND MY FRIEND JUST BUILT A GO KART THAT WILL BE HITTING THE TUBE SOON.....check back

    paul-

  • nice work!! im building a cart with a tractor trans/ and 18 horse briggs opposed. also got a dynamark 12 horse with a 5 speed, need to mod it and get it racer

  • that is bloody awsome i in the proses of making one got a rover 12hp briggs

  • oh and i saw ur discription and i just tied a wire to the govener and took the spring out

    works great

  • oh cool idea

  • it wasent min i snitched it from a wabsite and did it to min but thanks anyway..

and if i change the gear ratio by bigger in front and smaller in back will a hydrostatic run anyfaster??

  • for the most part no

the stock ratio is basically two of the same size pulleys

and they have jets or somthing like that will regulate the flow of the fluid

somone told me that they can blow open if modded

    I just went manual

  • how long does it take to turn a stock mower into this?

  • Depends if you ahve the parts/tools. I'd say you could easily speed up a mower in probably about 2 hours. But its not always as simple as just changing pulleys, cos you change the length of the belt needed, and cnahge the route of the belt as well.

  • awesome!!

im makeing one now its a big craftsman 25hp

do u kno if drive ratio will affect hydrostatic and make i fast?

    plx get back to me

    thanks

  • oh ok well how much would that cost?

  • Dont mod a hydro, it'll just burn up, and wont go a whole lots faster. Best to sell it, cos they;re worht quite a bit. Then just buy yourself a manual, and you'll have a good chunk of spare change too.

  • im getting ready to build a mower a lot like that one. i used to have a fast mower, a total piece of shit with no clutch and a 6hp motor out of a push mower. but the motor loved to rev like crazy. this ones gonna be way nicer

where did you get your different drive pulley

  • tractor supply

  • Do you have welded spider gears? what kind of oil do you use in the trans? I have an old Craftsman II mower that I plan on doing pretty much the same thing to, theres a real quick video of it on my channel.

  • haha

    i'll check it out.

    My differential is not locked.

i cleaned out the thick shit and i put some kinds of two stroke gear oil in it,,,,,Works perfect

  • Thanks, I think im gonna go down to the hardware store tomorrrow and get some cheap 75-90 gear oil for mine, Ill have to drop the trans and open it up for the first time. Hopefully I wont lose anything. I think im gonna weld my gears though, I do alot of hauling and stuff in the woods. Right now it has stock gearing, too cold out to do alot right now.

  • haha

    Sounds good-

  • well, looks like Im not gonna be able to do too much for a while. I have 8 stitches in my knee, I could see my kneecap. I cut it on the rear pulley of the Craftsman last night at lie 7:20. I went to the hospital again this morning at 6:30 because I now have a hematoma and cant really move my knee.

  • Dang Bro you need to be careful while working on the from now on,

  • ok now i see in your description my question is answered. you have to push the lever to bypass the governor. mine does 16 without pushing the lever 23 with the lever. i need to get a new pulley.

  • haha

    Thanks for reading the description

  • no problem

  • pull the governor off or just direct link to the throttle linkage, put a 5 or 5.5 pulley on the crank and 3 on the trans and it will go faster.. i have a custom made racing lawnmower and mine on flat ground will go 45mph-ish.. something like that and thats will an OHV 12 horse craftsman engine. i personally have seen them go 60 mph in a straight line.. we race about 30 mph on dirt tracks.

  • i have a 6.5in on the motor

and a 2.0 on the trans

    And its OHV

.....with the gov and i can do 45

  • you know if you go upto 3" on the trans you'll get less slipping on the belt. i have a race super modified tractor that 4" off the ground and can do 60+, just build it safe.

  • true

but i dont really have much slipping

i have a really heavy clutch so it pulls the belts tight and the belt i have fits in the v shape design perfect surface contact.

  • hay what size pullies did u use

  • 6.5 on the crank

    and 2.0 on the trans

  • What song is this?

  • what song is this?

  • yeah I want to know too, the little iTunes add thing lies.

  • what size belt do u have on this lawn mower i cant find one and i like all your videos there sick

  • haha. ok thank you. so its just a key way? that seems pretty easy. thanks alot!!!

  • Yepp

    nothing to it.

  • i have the same tractor. can you please tell me how to make it go that fast? i have it all torn apart but i was wondering where you got the pulley on the engine. i could not find one that would fit. where did u get yours? also did you do anything to the pulley on the trans?

  • Lol

yea, i got my pulleys' at tractor Supply...and the trans pully at tractor supply as well ...

    Crank pully is a 6.5"

    Trans pulley is a 2.0"

  • Can you make a video on the brake setup?

  • Yea sure

i'll try to get to it.

  • Nice mower.how fast is it?

  • 45 MILES PER HOUR.

  • man find a creek and take that thing through it!!!!!

  • I know

i want to take it deep in a river or somthing

  • do you have it governed stock or is it reved higher

  • GOV

  • what? GOV? what do you mean??

  • the throttle linkage is hooked up to a governor [gov]that is internal with the motor and at high rpm's it pulls back on the carb throtte.

  • i know that dude. i knew what gov meant i am wondering if yours is stock will it go to higher RPM or is yours stock thats all im asking im not asking what it is

  • yea its a stock governor

there is no such thing as an aftermarket governor

  • do you have the stock steering on there?

  • Yea

  • its bean raining in georgia for a while now.. my house is soaked

  • Another good video.

What are both the songs you used?

Its a good gear ratio to have, what are you pulley sizes?

  • Thanks

    Crank-6.5

    Trans-2.0

  • First song/Offspring-Yourgonna go far kid

    Second song/The Bravery-Believe

  • Nice job! First off i want to say thumbs up for mentioning saftey- theres no reason why anyone cant build a 'backyard basher'- despite official lawntractor racing objections- if its built right and safe- then go for it. Im in the same boat- its too far to drive to events ( 3hrs one way) so i call mine a modifed lawntractor- calling it a racer seems like its 'conforming' to actual racing rules.

One thing tho- i dont recommend 'pushing' the governer-specially with it stock-

  • - i have actual pics of a racing tractor when its stock flywheel shattered after over revving the motor.

It tore the frame, hit this guy in the leg( part of his jeans are still on the flywheel- and yes caused severe injuries), and ripped a hole in a nearby barn side (a metal barn).

Now once an engine is modified to accept higher rev's- thats different- like billet aluminum flywheels and stronger internals.

I had that problem with hitting my 'top end' on mine- i just swapped on a larger motor.

  • Thanks

    i need billet parts bad.

  • Ive thot about either having one of my motors modded or just minor mods( like smooth the intake a bit)- im thinking my goal is to tweek my murray to hit around 50-60 mph with a stock/nearly stock motor- i think its possible. Sometimes 40 is darn near fast enough...

I actually have a spare 18HP twin on my bench, with no intake/carb - im thinking sometime i want to put dual carbs on it ( have the stuff to do it)- meybe sometime when im bored ill tinker with it and slap it on the murray.....

  • Yea man slap some big dirt bike carb on the twin and that thing will pull

  • Im still looking for a cheep used motorcycle to slap that motor on a tractor- actually i have two lawntractor carbs thatll mount right up.

I had to cut the motor pulley off since it has some sort of pressed in 'slug' that held the pulley on- ill need to cut whats left off the crank end and use a single pulley. If it runs , ill probably swap that on the murray and put the stock 18.5HP back on the 88 dynamark...
