Darrell Green was a great football player. He played for such a long time at an incredibly high level of play, it is something not likely to be repeated in NFL history. Maybe not the best CB to ever play the game, but certainly the fastest.
@KRIIMZONx No offense, but I absolutely hate when people compare Deion Sanders and Darrell Green. Were they both great cover corners? Yes, but there are many great cover corners. That's the end of where they are alike... Darrell Green never held out for more money on his contract, never was a cancer to his team, didn't want all the spotlight to himself, and was a true team player. You have one guy who played with one team for 20 years, another who played with 5 teams in a little over a decade.
@Braselton21 for a youngin like yourself to be looking up to an old school player like darrell green is really something amazing. i hope you do get to be the next green, because not only is he one of the best to ever play the sport, but he is also an all-around good person, and a good role model to idolize. good luck!

down fastest man to EVER plat in the NFL. fastest 60 yd in NFL's fastest man comp-
Ron Brown 6.09- Hayes 48 yrs ago first man under 6 sec's he ran 5.9 at age 20.
@javonlegacy - says" deion sanders is the fastest cornerback ever"- that is bullshit ! Darrell Green and DeAngelo Hall were both faster than Sanders. If you listened to Mr. Superlative -Johnny Madden then maybe you would believe that.
Deion had a little size on Darrell but could not fly like Darrell. Deion was a great kick returner and cover corner but he wasn't as fast as Darrell. If Deion had his same skill set and was Darrell's size, he would not have made an NFL franchise roster.
One thing I'm never gonna froget is when he ran down Neapolean Kauffman, I mean he didn't have an angle on him and he still ran him down! Unbelivable fast!
@likestallwomen I grew up with "Nip" in Lompoc. We used to play tackle football in the neighborhoods and parks. I can personally attest to Neapoleans speed. So that means that Darrell is wicked fast.
@likestallwomen - I doubt he ever had to ! In all of Darryl's career - I never saw him miss catching anybody that he had a chance of getting with 1 exception. I do remember one game in the late 80's against the Falcons and Michael Haynes caught a pass and was only a few yards ahead of Darrell and Green didn't catch him. It was a long TD and I think it was late in the season and I was shocked Darrell didn't run him down. Darrell must have had a leg injury or something. Once in 20 years ain't bad.
@javonlegacy at the age of 40 darrell green beat out deion sanders as the fastest man on the redskins in 2000. so fuck off with that deion crap. nigga please!
"Nobody ran down Tony Dorsett but Darryl Green did. Nobody ran down Eric Dickerson but Darryl Green did. One of things that made Darryl Green a great player is that he accomplished things that no one thought were posable before.
Green was also among the toughest DBs,&at his best in big-game situations. With his superior speed he made impressive recoveries and got to the ball. With his results few would quarrel if there was method to his madness. He could plant and close in a blink reacted well to the ball, was an effective bump player with a smooth backpedal. In 1990,he was assigned to cover Jerry Rice,Andre Reed,Mark Duper,& Irving Fryar among others, and gave up a 100-yard game only once,to Eric Martin of the Saints.

Darrell Green ran a 4.24 at 40 years old... he was one of the best ever... and this is from a Cowboys fan.

I know that there certainly was an element of "toughness" in that playoff story... but damn, isn't that pretty close to being an indentured servant?
