Mercer is a hero though. or at least the black light virus that changed mercer. The general was the antagonist, and the new mercer was the protagonist, after quite a few blunders. So should james heller be considered a protagonist since he is out for revenge? he looks ex blacklight from some vids, and blacklight was kinda neutral in a bad way....
Mercer was the protagonist. He can be viewed as both a Hero (saves the city) or a Villain (kills innocent people) depending on how you look at it. Now James is the protagonist, it doesn't matter if he's good or bad. And he's an ex-Marine, not ex-Blacklight.

Mercer infected heller with a mutated underdeveloped virus and because its mutated it evolves faster so he will start out weak and alixe could kick his ass but once heller gets strong enough....All hell with break lose as heller unleashs powers that will obliterate alex to a pulp
But then of course some predictable twist will have mercers hand rise out of the rubble after heller walks away and then the credits go

I think its funny that so many people complain that they wont get to play as Alex Mercer. . .and yet they are gonna buy the game anyways -_- Quit complaining. . .Both of these guys are dicks. . .its just Heller has got something worth fighting for.
i hope when you beat the game youre able to play as alex also, and maybe you can buy diffrent skins for both of them, like a glowing blue powers instead of red, and when you use that new power of tentacles (not sure whats it called) they glow blue

In the first mission, you play as an uninfected Heller, or at least it's extremely likely. There's a gameplay clip showing Heller (uninfected) running through the Red Zone with his trench knife, chasing after Mercer.

prototype was good because you felt like a monster, not a man who is serving justice. they're going all wrong with this kind of revenge plot. you don't feel evil when you're in the right, Heller needs to have a dark past or rage and kill some innocent people. regardles, the plot would need to be larger and deeper to be worth buying

Most people bought it to do the same and they will do just that with Prototype 2. If your that into story then this probably isnt your game. You...you felt like a hero when playing as Alex? There nothing "heroic" about him. The only good thing he does is save the city at the last second and save Dana. Besides those two things, he doesn't do anything for the good of others. Just for his own selfish desires. (Except when he's tricked by Karen. But he sorta negates those good intentions by murdering her. Even though she was forced to betray him.)

Trying to save the city? He didn't start trying to help until Karen tricked him. And in case you forgot, he ended up brutally murdering her. After that, nearly everything he does is for revenge or to seek out answers. He kills innocent people (in-game, he kills Marines and Blackwatch soldiers. And before you say"Blackwatch is bad", remember that the current Blackwatch's only goal is to contain infections. GenTek is the one that creates viruses) for little to no reason.
SOME members of Blackwatch are pictured as trigger happy maniacs. Just because some of them are like that, does that mean they all are? If they had someone like Captain Cross in Blackwatch, you know that there's plenty of genuinely good people in their ranks. And you can't forget that the Taggart (leader of the marines) wanted to nuke the city from the start. While Randall (leader of Blackwatch) didn't want to nuke the city at all.

And don't forget that nearly everything Zeus does made everything worse. If it weren't for him constantly getting in the way, the infection would have been purged in a few days. But Zeus: Freed Greene, destroyed every 'non-lethal' weapon Blackwatch created, which forced them to attempt to nuke the city in the first place.
Its cool that the new Game will get new Powers and Moves, but the Problem is that you will feel alot stronger than Alex, and its not what its suppossed to be :S
@d3d26 Maybe you won't end up being stronger than Alex. Maybe it'll be like Alex, in the first game, had not yet seen his true strength, and Heller figured it out a bit quicker. Alex may be just as, if not more powerful than Heller in the long run. But I do agree, it felt good playing Alex, and I will miss it.
I disagree completely, you don't need to be evil in a game for it to be good, I think the whole playing as a good guy/revenge angle is a good idea, but hey, if you don't like it, don't buy it.

Not really. Since either Heller's campaign would have been half as long, or the game would have taken much, much longer to be made. Besides, nobody whined about not wanting to play as Mercer back in Prototype 1.

@MrSeahawk77 I think it goes more like : blackwatch is making biochemical weapons (blacklight virus) and Mercer thinks the world should know so he threatens to drop the vial in the metrostation where he is shot and falls onto the broken vial wich causes his body to be broken down as food for the virus and then reconstructed so it has a stronger host then the average infected (as they resemble zombies in some manner and mercer & co are just plain awesome)

Also, Greene can't, and never could control Zeus, since he wasn't created with a connection to the hivemind. He had to make his own connection.

From what we've seen, Heller's powers are all around better than the powers Zeus used in Prototype 1. I'm not dumb enough to think that Zeus hasn't gotten much stronger since then. I just disagree with the whole 'Zeus is unstoppable' thing I keep seeing. He gets his ass kicked and nearly dies three times in Prototype 1, he's just lucky as hell. If Blackwatch hadn't been attempting to make a cure, Cross would have killed him in the 1st half of the game.

Unless Zeus was weaker than Specialist Cross. Because Cross too was infected, and as a human, his mind connected to the hivemind. And yet he could hear Greene, but was mentally strong enough to resist her. So unless your 'precious' Zeus is mentally weaker than an infected human, being controlled isn't likely.

Most people bought it to do the same and they will do just that with Prototype 2. If your that into story then this probably isnt your game. Trying to save the city? He didn't start trying to help until Karen tricked him. And in case you forgot, he ended up brutally murdering her. After that, nearly everything he does is for revenge or to seek out answers. He kills innocent people (in-game, he kills Marines and Blackwatch soldiers. If they had someone like Captain Cross in Blackwatch, you know that there's plenty of genuinely good people in their ranks. @d3d26 Maybe you won't end up being stronger than Alex. Maybe it'll be like Alex, in the first game, had not yet seen his true strength, and Heller figured it out a bit quicker. Alex may be just as, if not more powerful than Heller in the long run. But I do agree, it felt good playing Alex, and I will miss it.

In prototype one, you were the bad guy. you killed innocent people and you had no interesting back story. this time you want revenge, after mercer killed your family. But the game is free roam, so you actually choose what to do. The plot is larger and deeper more than any free roam game ever.

I don't understand this. How does Alex go from being an Anti-hero to becoming an all powerful villain. That just doesn't sit well with me.
If I were to work on the Prototype series, I would make a new antagonist for this game and leave Alex as the protagonist. That's what I would do.

@MrSeahawk77 I think it goes more like : blackwatch is making biochemical weapons (blacklight virus) and Mercer thinks the world should know so he threatens to drop the vial in the metrostation where he is shot and falls onto the broken vial wich causes his body to be broken down as food for the virus and then reconstructed so it has a stronger host then the average infected (as they resemble zombies in some manner and mercer & co are just plain awesome)

Who said Heller is going to replace Zeus? He's getting rid of him, not replacing him. Whether or not Zeus is better is up for debate, since Heller's clearly evolving faster, and not wasting his time crying about being infected, unlike Zeus. Zeus isn't THE Prototype. He's A prototype. Also, Greene can't, and never could control Zeus, since he wasn't created with a connection to the hivemind. He had to make his own connection.

From what we've seen, Heller's powers are all around better than the powers Zeus used in Prototype 1. I'm not dumb enough to think that Zeus hasn't gotten much stronger since then. I just disagree with the whole 'Zeus is unstoppable' thing I keep seeing. He gets his ass kicked and nearly dies three times in Prototype 1, he's just lucky as hell. If Blackwatch hadn't been attempting to make a cure, Cross would have killed him in the 1st half of the game.

Unless Zeus was weaker than Specialist Cross. Because Cross too was infected, and as a human, his mind connected to the hivemind. And yet he could hear Greene, but was mentally strong enough to resist her. So unless your 'precious' Zeus is mentally weaker than an infected human, being controlled isn't likely.
