  • camshaft sensor placement on an 01 vw gti vr6 dohc???

  • @tiny44094 on top of the head, behind the top camshaft sprocket, wedges out of a hole htere.

  • Hey Scott where is the camshaft position sensor located in a 2003 GMC Safari?

  • @gkkillens stinkers hid it inside the distributor, part of that assembly

  • @scottykilmer thanks i found it.

  • Hey Scott do you know were is the crank position sensor located on a 2002 trailblazer??

  • @920chicago back side of the engine block where it bolts onto the transmission, it measures the flywheel inside there spinning

  • Ready buy a use dash but same problem rpm gauge dont move what do you think is the problem or what else can i do? Thank you for the help

  • @elguapoben1000 then the wiring or the main computer is bad, me, I'd leave it.

  • Ok i send my sub to transmission service. And wat can i do for the rpm gauge, scaner read camshaftsensor position i change new on the distrivutor, chek engine no off and rpm gauge its on cero god bles you scoty tankuou for help

  • @elguapoben1000 generally the tachs themselves just wear out on those, they cost a ton, try a used junk yard dash or install a cheap aftermarket tach unit on the dash.

  • My rpm gauge not work all gauges ok just this, chevy blazer 98 automatic bad shifting help plis

  • @elguapoben1000 odds are they're separate problems, tachs often just break down. as for bad shifting, change the filter and fluid and add a quart of lucas tranny additive and pray that helps, cause rebuilding em is expensive if needed.

  • @scottykilmer Thanks man! I really appreciate it! I couldn't find it anywhere! -_-'

  • Hey Scotty, I've just replaced the Camshaft, Crankshaft and Speed Sensor on my 05 Altima. I was told that I have to take it in to get it reprogrammed, is that something I can do myself?

  • @Avol80 just try driving it , sometimes they reset after a few days driving. if not, only a mechanic with a dealer level scan computer can do it.

  • *2001

  • I have a 2901 Honda civic EX 130xxx miles. Code 1361. Auto zone told me it was this. Would you happen to know how to get to the sensor in my case? I'm not good with imports. I'm a Chevy man. Any help would be appreciated!!

  • @BigManny94 you have to remove the top timing belt cover, the sensor is hiding under there.

  • ive got a 02 grand cherokee throwing random misfires and throwing itself into limp mode ive got a code reader but it dont tell me much. every sensor and and even main computer and harness has been replaced and programed. and the problem is still there. should i drive it off a cliff or try..... please help

  • @emercer84 drive it off a cliff, you couldn't give me a chrylser products. Electrical nightmares. Realize, if there's a short in any computer sensor or wiring, it will feed back and ruin the computer. so putting a new on in will often just blow the new computer. but good luck hunting for shorts, try my new video I just put up today on the top of the scottykilmer channel page.

  • Hey Scotty, I have a 95 monte carlo..the problem is..the car would run when engine is cold when it reach operating temperature it shuts down..and wont start back up until engine is cold..what can that be....I have had the fuel pumped replaced and fuel filter replaced..same results..

  • @jayceexx often leaking fuel injectors flooding the engine out, start there.

  • Best 2:27 I ever spend!

  • Hi Scotty, I've got to commend you on your work! I have a Chevy astro and my Crankshaft sensor is inside my D. cap under rotary. About my van, my fuel pressure runs low on cold start ups. I changed the f. filter. Would a weak fuel pump cause that or is more like the fuel pressure regulator needs changed. It runs great! It just needs starter fluid on cold starts. You

guys on you tube are a Godsend to many people! Thanks for the kindness of sharing your knowledge! It helps poor folks fight back!

  • Thanks for all this important knowledge, my ? is about my 98 Ford Expedition. I have a no start and continuous crank, I've checked for vaccum leaks, replaced egr valve, fuel filter, fuel pump. tested the pump outside of tank still conected and just get a quick suction and nothing after that. would the culprit be my CPS and where is it located? Thanks..

  • @acdrumchap it's on the front of the engine, just bolts out and in. Get a new one, easy to match it up.

  • Thanks for all the great info mr kilmer. What type of scan tool would you reccomend for obd1 and obd2 vehicles? ????thank you in advance

  • @rauldsc1 I use a snap on modis for both, but they cost a TON. Otherwise buy two separate ones if you want lower prices, like actron. Scotty

  • @rauldsc1 dont need a scan tool for obd1, if u have obd1, check passanger side under dash, in the right side corner, u should c a 2 wire plug, stick a paperclip from one pin to the other to short em out, and ur check engine light on ur cluster should blink. 1 Long blink is 10, and 1 short is 1. For obd2 ur only choice is a scan tool, port should be under dash on driver side, on left side mostly.

  • i have a 1998 acura integra and i cant find the obd port scotty. also the car runs good for a while then it just shuts off like if you turned the key off.. changed battery, distributor, starter motor... but now im lost.. could it be a sensor? do you know where cam and crank sensors are? thanks much

  • @pinochska don't just guess with parts, analyze it with a scanner. The port should be on the passenger side by their left leg under the dash, but sometimes they hide it behind the ash tray or middle arm console.

  • Is a camshaft sensor synonymous with a crankshaft sensor? thanks

  • @stylicho no, they are different, I realize I misspoke in this video, but you can't change anything once the video is uploaded

  • where is the crank sensor on a 2001 silverado

  • @oneiooknurhookd I would need to know the exact engine size, they have different ones.

  • @scottykilmer 4.8

  • Hey scotty i was having trouble similar to the cam shaft sensor problem . Also thought i was tranny problem took it to a mechanic they thought it was vacuum problem turned out to be tps sensor i found this out after paying all the professionals did there work and charged me for it .

  • @Scotty - and the camshaft position sensor... forgot about that one.

  • Scotty - I'm the guy that got ripped off with a Mitsubishi Galant timing belt, camshaft belt, water pump job. They ended up charging me $898 for the job. Then they tore up 2 of the motor mounts and wanted $600 to change them. I got it done for $100. I'm feeling very violated. Any recourse on these con artists? Taking advantage of my son while attending college is despicable.

  • @scotty - and now there is even a bent valve knocking.

  • @decoysetter well, you can sue them unless you signed a waiver allowing them to work on the car for that price. Once you agree to let them do repairs, nothing you can do about price.

  • Scotty... can a bad CPS cause rough idle? Thank you!

  • @chisaoboy it can, but more often it's something else like a vacuum leak

  • You've got to be kidding... it's that easy? My mechanic wants $250 to change it and I see them online for either $68 for the left side... or $122 for the right side. Damn... I'll just do it myself!! BUT... how do I know which one is the problem... left or right? The code is indeed P1341. (2001 Jaguar Vanden Plas) Thanks so much... great video!

  • @chisaoboy that is sensor B, but I've never worked on one so call a dealer parts department where they can tell you which side of the engine that is.

  • Scotty, trying to replace the crankshaft position sensor in a 2005 durango with a 5.7 hemi. I went underneath and looked on the block but dont see it. Can you tell me where it is?

  • @justerock1 The Camshaft Position Sensor (CMP) on the 5.7L V-8 engine is located below the generator on the timing chain / case cover on the right/front side of engine. Scotty

  • Scotty try this one! I have a 92 eagle talon and it wont run I can get it to sputter by pumping the gas real fast. It will run for 3 seconds with starting fluid. What could be causing this? i put in a New timing belt and cylinder head too

  • Scotty, I have a 99 jeep cherokee sport with no spark. I hate buying parts that I don't need. I tested the coil, also I am not getting a code. I even scanned it. I get 5 v to the crank sensor. The jeep has 130k on it and no sensors have ever been replaced. Any idea that you have would be lights years ahead of mine thanks Jay

  • Hi Scotty, I have a 2006 VW Passat- I have a P000A error ("A" Camshaft Position Slow response (bank 1) , is this a sensor problem or something else? Is it a costly fix to fix something like this?

  • do yu know where this sensor is located on a 98 Ford Countor GL ; and how much it would be to replace it ; i got the piece already.

  • @TeamPindropTV you need a special for alignment tool to replace that part. It looks like a small distributor on the side of the top of the engine, places like auto zone can print you a picture, but you really need the alignment tool to do it correctly. Scotty

  • Nice Video Scotty, any idea where the cam position sensor is on a 1999 vw jetta 2.0? I found the crank sensor easy enough. Thanks

  • @jeeperman77 it's built into the distributor itself. Scotty

  • Hey Scotty, do you know where is located the crank position sensor on a chevy malibu 2001? and if i´ll need any special tools or adapters to change it.

  • @defryer1 It's hiding behind the Ac compressor, a cow to get to, often you have to remove the compressor to get to it, just using normal hand tools. Scotty

  • 2 questions:

    1) Are the camshaft and crankshaft sensors the same thing, or 2 different things?

    2) Would it really cost $531 to replace them (it)?

    I have a '96 Toyota Corolla, btw.

  • @SuperErik37 Well I just answered my first question, they are in fact 2 different things! Duh.

But almost $600 to fix that? Seems crazy.

  • @SuperErik37 2 different things, only a rip off artist would charge that much to change them out, go elsewhere. Scotty

  • Would you know where I could find the cam sensor in my 1989 buick electra park ave? It's a 3.8. thank you

  • @5haringan16 it's hiding under the water pump, you must remove the fan belt and the pump pulley to access it. Scotty

  • @scottykilmer hey thank you so much

  • I have 1999 2.4L Mitsubishi Galant. The car just quit while driving on the interstate. The mechanic said it was either the camshaft or crankshaft sensor that went out. Previous to this the check engine light was on. Just replaced the timing belt(s). Is it REALLY a $450.00 job to replace either of them?

  • @decoysetter only with a rip off mechanic, I could change em in less than an hour easy. Price other guys in your area. Scotty

  • I opened the fuel line at the filter i have fuel could the filter clogged?

  • @gpcdist change the filter and pray, it could be clogged. easy enough to do. scotty

  • Replaced the fuel pump, run for awhile then died, checked spark, relay, puled fuel line no fuel. Would there be anything else to check before replacing the fuel pump again?

  • @gpcdist yea, the fuel pump relay and the wiring. I would hot wire the pump directly from the battery to see if it was dead before replacing it. Scotty

  • i bought everything bran new! and its still messed up... but it threw the same code but said crankshaft position sensor...so i am going to replace that sensor and see what will happen from there...sound good? its a 160 dollar sensor (ridiculous)

  • @tdominguez1826 sure, and pray it's not bad wiring, a bad main computer, or a stretched timing belt or chain, they can trip that code too. scotty

  • @scottykilmer how much do one of those diagnostic scanner cost?

  • @whole27 tons of different prices, mine was about 150 bucks. Scotty

  • message me or comment back please! this problem is drivin me crazy!!!

  • i have a 1998 honda accord lx 2.3 ltr and it is throwin the code p1381 and it came up as cylinder position sensor once and i went to autozone again and it said cam shaft position sensor....i looked it up and it seems as if no one has been able to fix it, and my mechanic doesnt even know how to fix it, but i replaced the distributor since the cylinder position sensor is built in it, and distributor cap and rotor, plug wires and spark plugs.. and the code is still coming up p1381 please let me kno

  • @tdominguez1826 I ONLY use brand new distributors on those and never had the problem reoccur. If you used a rebuilt, it is probably bad. But if it isn't, then the wiring or your main computer has gone bad. Scotty

  • I have a 2003 Ford Mustang...i checked the check engine light at autozone and they say its the crankshaft...i was wondering to replace that sensor will i have to go under the car or not? Thanks

  • @snydman08 yes, get them to print you a picture of where the sensor is, they do that free at auto zones. Scotty

  • scotty do u think a act of nature glitched my car into thinking it was a camshart sensor? like maybe snow. col weather or ran got on the sensor?

  • @Matthew55904 NO, but computer glitches or stretched timing chains can do that. Scotty

  • @scottykilmer i have a timing belt i didnt thing it was possible for chains to stretch and what would cause the computer to glitch?

  • @Matthew55904 chains stretch all the time, ask any biker about his drive chain. Scotty

  • scotty i got my car scanned today the code is P0342 bad Crankshaft Position Sensor what is the signs of a bad sensor as my car runs fine they also cleared the code remotly they said come back if it happens again they said its a 7hr job 150 bucks labor and 123.15 for a new sensor they said due to where mine is located it will take 7 hrs to change it what do u think? total id have to pay is 276.15

  • @Matthew55904 they sure are bullshitting you, 7 hours with a mechanic is more like 700 dollars labor. if it runs OK, I'd live with it. But if it doesn't, seek another mechanic who doesn't bullshit. Scotty

  • @scottykilmer well according to the answers.com wiki the camshaft position sensor is between the two cam heads to get to it i have to remove the plactic conver on the engine and looking at the engine it is on the left side and is between the 2 cam gears but i CANNOT find any answers on the signs of a bad crankshaft sensor what are they?

  • @Matthew55904 some of those old ones don't have crank sensors, and my data system does not list one. I've never put on on that exact model, so I can't say from experience. Scotty

  • @scottykilmer so what does a crankshaft sensor do? that will give me a general idea if i no its bad onlything i can find on how to tell is using a multimeter but do to me having to take engine parts off i dont wanna do that

  • @scottykilmer my cars a 2001 Daewoo Lanos

  • Cont...It's a 2007 Chevy Aveo.

  • Hi Scotty,

I recently had a valve cover gasket replaced as oil was leaking everywhere so i had my car hooked up to the machine at AutoZone and it said I need a cam sensor, oxygen sensor, and my 3rd cylinder has had a misfire. After having my gasket replaced my car started for one day then the next morning she's out again. Do u think it would be wise to get the cam sensor first of all? I have to wait 2 weeks for the others as I've wasted so much into this car and it's constantly not starting. It

  • @thepeacehippie hard to say, MANy things can cause that code, including guys messing up wiring or sensors doing work on the engine. But cam sensor will not make oxygen sensors act up and the number 3 misfire could also be the biggest problem. Typical GM product, they are crap as they age these days. They went bankrupt for MANY good reasons. Yours has multiple problems, and fixing which first is just a guess. May as well start with the sensor. Scotty

  • @scottykilmer actually scotty we have never had problems with our GM Cars weve been getting GM (meain other famiy members) since 96 never had a problem the 1st GM was a 1990 Chevy Celebrity wagon it did need alot of batteries and had meny minor problems but nothing that every turned on the check engine light

  • @thepeacehippie u say its a 2007 Aveo when in face it is a 2007 Daewoo Kalos with an aparent faulty engine

  • hi scotty, i have a 6.5l turbo diesel, do you know where the crankshaft position sensors would be located?

  • @CostcoBulkBuyer you would have to give me year, make , and model for me to tell you correctly, Scotty

  • @scottykilmer its a 1998 chevy cheyenne 2500 6.5l turbo diesel

  • @CostcoBulkBuyer it's on the right side of the harmonic ballancer which drives the fan belts, easy job. Scotty

  • @scottykilmer thanks scotty! your the man, i replaced it and my rpm works!

  • I have a 2006 Impala LS 3.5l v6 and the P0011 code has been showing for over 3 years, I just replaced the transmission in it and now the car sometimes doesnt start but will click once and sometimes i can rock it a bit and it will start up...do you have a video on how to replace the camshaft sensor in this vehicle? I'm not a grease monkey so i have no idea where it'd be. Thanks!

  • @davidadjr that has nothing to do with the cam sensor, clicking means the starter is going out or the battery is weak. rocking the engine means it's probably a bad starter. Scotty

  • i got a nissan maxima 1993 v6 24v twin cam 3000 and i was told it has 3 crankshaft sensors and i wanted to no if you no where they are located

  • @SM00THBOIMAKC you have been talking to idiots, it only has one. if it has a distributor, it's inside there and you replace the distributor. but some models that year have no dists, in which case the crank sensor is at the end of the head on the top, and just bolts off and on. Scotty

  • Hey Scott, I have a 95 ford mustang that the check engine light came on in. I took it to autozone and they said cam sensor. My car has been loosing power on acceleration both from stop and at higher speeds, would the sensor throw off acceleration and lack of power?

  • @iAmJoshE07 yes, it can. Scotty

  • You forgot the L in your website name on this video's description!

  • Hey scotty, question on a 2000 Oldsmobile alero 2.4L Would this cause the the car to completely fail and not fire right? i took it to a goodyear and they said the whole timing system is bad but im not sure thats the problem

  • @amp04222 depends on how it breaks down, it can stop firing entirely, or just miss out randomly. scotty

  • hi i intall to my car a new crank sensor, and it not start, and then i install a new ignition and also it not start, what other thing you think can make that the car not start??? sorry for my english i am latino!!!

  • @rijosjoel watch my other video "how to fix a car that cranks but doesn't start up" and try all those next. Scotty

  • Scotty do u know where the sensor is on a 02 nissan quest my van shut off and i have a p0340 code

  • @hp11208 It's on the back side of the engine behind and to the left of the oil filler cap, where the engine and tranny bolt together. Scotty

  • @scottykilmer Thats where the camshaft position sensor is rigth the code is p0340 thanks

  • how do u know if u need on what is the signs? besides the engine light

  • scotty where would a Crankcase Air Filter go?

  • @Matthew55904 On the REALLY old cars that had them, it goes inside the air filter housing and is fed by it's own hose on the side. Scotty

  • @scottykilmer what about modern cars?

  • can you help me locate the ckp sensor on a 99 dodge dakota v6

  • @rltremblay

The sensor is bolted to the cylinder block near the rear of the right cylinder head. scotty

  • Scotty, I have a Ford f350 super duty 1995 that needs to replace the cam on it. How do I do that??

  • @TheBananakins BIG job, you have to pull the engine to do that correctly. Plus machine work generally needs doing, most guys just get a whole engine instead. Scotty

  • Can oil you've spilled on the engine (about 3 cap fulls) damage the position sensor?

  • @fLowKnows not if you wipe it off, it's a sealed unit sensor. Scotty

  • thanks scotty!!!

  • if a car has a damage crank sensor,it can breakdown while running????

  • @rijosjoel yes, it supplies the computer with info for fuel injection and ignition and can shut it all down. Scotty

  • Hey Scotty Im a 29 year old female thats tired of paying high repair fees for simple jobs on my car. I have a 2008 Saturn Vue XE and I need to replace my cam sensor but i need help locating it.

  • @Carmonneal it has two cam sensors, both on the front near the top of the engine. One on the exhaust cam and one on the intake cam. Get a new sensor and you can match it up easy. Scotty

  • wow what an easy sensor lol I had to take my A/c compressor off to get to it, with some seized bolts I had to grind off. Then had to tap the holes all over again. Wish I would have taped that. Could of been of some use to someone.

  • Thank you Scotty, I am a 63 year old woman who is going to fix her own can...because of you, I know how to do it!!!

  • how the hell this guy win a emmy

  • @blehtubezzz by answering questions people asked, MANY hundreds of thousands of them. Put that in your pipe and smoke it. Scotty

  • @scottykilmer this video was particularly un-informative the others are better,

and you couldn't have picked an easier CAS to replace lol

  • @blehtubezzz What a WHINER. Get a life jack, and stop bothering people.Scotty

  • @scottykilmer lol

  • @blehtubezzz I would like to inform you that my nissan altima's check engine light is not on anymore and starts right up, And saved $300 from going to a dealer, to doing it myself thanks to Scotty

  • that does not make any sense, why does it say cam shaft position sensor if you actually replacing the crank shaft position sensor... they are two different things

  • @wesmath1 yea, yea, I misspoke once changing the names, no one's perfect. You can't change a youtube video once it's been uploaded though. Scotty

  • @scottykilmer yeah very true nice video though

  • Hey Scotty I have a friend who has 99 daewoo leganza 2.2L with no spark, cranks but won't start He replaced crankshaft position sensor . old sensor wires were rubbed and peeled probably by belt.does this car has camshaft sensor and where is it? Also how can he check ignition coil. by the way fuel pressure is 40 psi ,tried starting fluid .with no luck.

  • @2888jar if the belt wore the wires open, they may have shorted out the main computer, I would start by having that checked first. They short out fast with bare wires. Scotty

  • What do I do if my 97 nissan maxima makes a clicking/knocking noise when it is running?

  • @derekanaya get another car. Remove the fan belts and pray that's making the noise. If not, then it's internal engine problems, BIG MONEY repairs, more than the car is worth. Scotty

  • hey scotty i need help here, i have a hyundai accent 2003, and i started having problems with it, at first i thought it was the battery cause it wont start, so what i did was i bought a new battery, so it just started right. but i noticed it wont start when my engine is kinda hot or warm or if my temperature is on the middle. it run smoothly when i drive it but it wont start back up again once i turned it off, i need to wait for the engine to cool down before i could run it back up.

  • @nethwafu often that's a flooding out engine, IF it cranks normally but does not start up when hot. If it doesn't crank at all, then replace the starter. Scotty

  • @scottykilmer hey scotty theres no codes and my truck at a red light shuts down when driving around for 30 minutes then it takes an hour to turn on as if nothing happened i changed the maf sensor nothing can it be the cam sensor or crankshaft sensor 2004 tahoe 5.3 vortec

  • @956JAVI956 when it doesn't start, watch my video "fixing a car that cranks but doesn't start up" and try all that. You need to figure out what's not working, and fix it, like a bad fuel pump or shot ignition system. Being a chevy, I'd guess fuel injection, those vortec plastic systems stink as they age and crack. Scotty

  • @scottykilmer well the mechanic said he put in a new fuel pump found out it was refurbished same problem did it myself with new pump $245 now my truck is working fine no more stalling also changed filter

  • @956JAVI956 the fuel pump is new also replaced fuel filter somehow this code came on u0107 it really freaked me out erased it and hasnt come up lately.there was a vaccum line that was torn replaced it but i doubt that was stalling my truck.

  • @scottykilmer what does flooding out of engine mean? and what do i have to do to fix that problem? thanks a lot sir i really appreciate it

  • @nethwafu it means too much gas, so it can't run as the cylinders are full of gas.Scotty

  • @scottykilmer hey scotty, how do i fix flooding of engine? a lot of people say it might be a heat soak cuase it starts fine when the engine is cold and when its hot it wont start. im just looking for all my options right now cause i dont have the money to fix it

  • @nethwafu when it doesn't start, watch my video "fixing a car that cranks but doesn't start up" and try all that. You need to figure out what's not working, and fix it, like a bad fuel pump or shot ignition system.Scotty

  • hey scotty its me again. i got my ford ranger to fire up and now stays running for a bit. but when put in gear and accelerate, the engine knocks and rpms go way down, this is when shifting in all gears rpms drop down and slowly pick up with a bad knocking noise, it hears like a dirt bike...sorta. im thinking it can be the crankshaft position sensor, the codes its giving me is "erratic idm input" and "cylinder balance test operator error" its an obd system but the cps is the only thing left2chng

  • @LMLFE It could be that sensor, or it's wiring, OR the circuits inside the main computer. Scotty

  • Hi Scotty i have a problem with my car its limited at 5500 rpm but its supuossued to reach 7000 rpm, a friend told me that it might be the camshaft position sensor, my car is a 2004 MG Zr160.

What do you think its wrong with my car?

  • @Serrathon don't guess, test. Only a factory level scan tool with mode 6 and live data stream can see what's breaking down. Pay a mechanic to use his if you want more than just a guess. Scotty

  • Hi Scotty i have a problem with my car its limited at 5500 rpm but its supuossued to reach 7000 rpm, a friend told me that it might be the camshaft position sensor, my car is a 2004 MG Zr160.

What do you think its wrong with my car?

  • if the crankshaft position sensor isnt aligned correctly, can the motor run badly or misfire?? does it affect spark plug timing?

  • @bikr1975 Of course, and realize that some cars like many fords need them synched correctly with a tool. Scotty

  • hey i changed my cam sensor and my car still has a hard time warming up so i guess i will have to change the timing chain my magnet is bad or something

    :(

  • i wish i had a Jeep for my fix lol looks so much more simpler.

  • I already bought the cam sensor and wanted to do that myself, because he showed me on a 1991 Park Ave where its located when he was changing one, and i believe i need to remove teh harmonic balencer bolt to get in the back there and theres1 bolt holding it.doesnt seem hard but i need a breaker bar and then use the starter to remove it. Any advice?? - Lawrence, Thanks

  • @CODxFUNxMAN yea, they're hard to get off byhand, I use an impact wrench. But 350 for a chain job is dirt cheap and there's now way you could do that yourself IF that needs doing. Scotty

  • @scottykilmer Thanks alot Scotty. My machanic is a really cool guy, so i dont expect him to try n rip me off like my older mechanic did. So thanks again i will get back to you when i get something done.

  • Im not sure if you remember, but a wile back you told me i need to replace mmy crank sensor on my 1991 Buick LeSabre Custom, It was actually the ECM and coils i was only getting 4 out of 6 sparks, then the car was much better at idle, and now it warms up a bit roughly and stals and shuts off at lights and stop signs. my machanic told me i need a new cam sensor and timing chain, but to get both fixed will be around $350 and i only make about 100 a week, not counting some bills.

  • You use camshaft and crankshaft position sensor interchangibly. They are two different sensors in actuality.

  • scotty i have a 99 tahoe with a 383 stroker efi ...eagle stroker kit 9.5 or so compression a comp xfi 268 computer controled cam and stock vortec heads with some porting to help flow ..i took it to have a 3:90 posi and a "tune " the tunner says i have a cam sensor going out or gone out (exact words) im guessing my cam sensor would be in or very near to my distributor b/c i didnt see it the very short time i looked ...and what if the comp cam grind is 2 or 4 degrees from stock ???

  • scotty i have a 1997 ford f350, culd you show or tell me where the sensor is located and if it can be changed the same way the one in this video was changed?

  • thank you for this video, for months I have taken my car here and there, and was told everything was wrong with it, I read many post and found that it was the camshaft sensor. Problem was most mechanics in maryland thought that my car being 11 years old didnt have a camshaft, I found it myself brought the part and put it on, and car works fine

  • Scotty, I 'm getting ready to replace the camshaft position sensor on my 2000 Windstar. I thought it was the mass air flow sensor, but the code reader bought yesterday said it was the CPS. I double checked with a Ford "expert" friend who confirmed it would act the same way. (runs poorly intil it gets warmed up, then runs fine.) I just want to thank you for your videos. Thanks to your easy to understand approach, I have the confidence to do more maintenance on my vehicles. ..appreciative

  • Scotty, I need to replace the camshaft sensor in my 06 ford freestyle, could you tell me where its located at in the engine compartment. The dealership said it was above the AC compressor, but I'm having trouble finding it. Please help

  • @02drew77 yes, above the AC fan belt about midway bolted onto the head. It's right there, get a new one, you can match ends up. Scotty

  • scotty i have 97 infiniti i 30 sometimes does not start ,no crank or any noise but has light power in d car, battery is good, we just replace alternator but sometimes starts fine and sometimes dont

  • @aztere10 often just a bad starter. Scotty

  • Hello Scotty, Do you have to unplug the battery to replace the camshaft position sensor?

  • @isaacmrs1 It's a good idea to. Scotty

  • @scottykilmer generally that's just a bad starter wearing out, they can act like that for years sometimes before they stop entirely. Scotty
