its terrible to see americans blowing the shit out of there own forces, i understand its hard to identify whos on the ground in them conditions, but its common sense to know that your guys are moving UP the hill, and not in trences shooting down.
@LYNCHIE1011 I'm sure I've mentioned this before, but during the real battle it was Cobra gunships that wasted friendlies, not Hueys. I think not only the director at the time couldn't afford to rent an actual Cobra for the scene, but visually seeing an American firing the M-60 into friendly troops just seems more emotional. The scene honestly pissed me off severely seeing this as a kid. I almost never talk to the TV but when I saw this scene man I went at it. lol.
@SgtMcCullin Also, in real life it was a Cobra that wasted the friendlies. I don't think the Director could afford to use real Cobras for the scene, so instead used Hueys. I thought Hueys made the scene better than a Cobra honestly.
@go0fy11137 I remember my grandfather, once an ARVN officer, told me that a lot of ARVN soldiers get strafed and bombed daily by the USAF aircraft or Cobra helicopters so badly that one of the ARVN soldiers demanding their generals to shoot anything down no matter whether it's the enemy or not as part of self defense. Despite this, a lot of ARVN were very grateful of the USAF close air support and without it, a lot of ARVN would have been killed.
@Hperman09 Much respect to your grandfather and vets from all nations. I had a grandfather that served in Korea, who also was USAF. Never had the chance to meet him, but his flag is somewhat of a sacred item we keep in our household. I appreciate you taking the time to write back such a positive comment, HH is a damn good film that deserves the discussion we're giving it.
its the governments fault for causing these shitty wars.. america was never threatend on a mass scale besides ww2.. so fuck these pointless wars the only thing its good for is population control.
@MTbowler I dare you to call the vietnam war a pointless war to a vietnam vet. Then you'll here about the true meaning of the war and you'll think otherwise.
I saw this movie when I was very young, and I remember it making me feel sad even back then. I know in real life it was Cobras that killed the friendlies but having door gunners firing actually makes it more emotional than simply a gunship spraying everything in sight. In this scene however, we clearly see it is Americans killing Americans. We the viewers feel as helpless as the two radio operators that are trying to call off the Hueys. Very sad scene.
@TheMrMusicMan95 That's a ridiculious question. Have some fucking respect for the men that died bravely over a hill that (later on) proved to be worthless, you apparently don't know jack shit. Now unass my AO.
all of u trash talkers can go to hell my grandpa died on Hill 937 (the real hamburger hill) from friendly fire on a chopper but in a way he saved others becuase he popped colored smoke and stopped at least some of the massacre
@MW2HACKERMATH It is people like your grandfather that saved this country. I bet he was proud to die knowing that he protected this country and saved 100s of lives. May he rest in peas.
EVERY BODY HATES((( They should have shoot back it would save many and more usefull ground troops(((( Great Movie Fuck VC SlyE..... ANd I Russkie so you would know...
@wolf762able Yes, you are right. The friendly fire came from supporting Cobra helicopters, not from Hueys. I guess the film didn't have enough money to get it right...A door gunner would have to be fuckin blind not to see friendlies on the ground bellow or even to shoot blindly and so close to friendlies. Shit happens, but this is highly improbable.
Why hated the Vietnamese. They just defending their country. The americans also will do similar acts if your country being invaded.Or maybe you think those vietnmese were just sub humans no better than animals.People who had no rights or honor?
Assholes who use large words to somehow elevate their credibility on any particular subject, more often than not suffer from an inferiority complex; or are you just so full of shit that you hide behind what cannot possibly be a everyday vernacular in hopes of impressing people. Either way, you are totally wrong.
Society is part of the collapse of art, says Baudrillard; however, according to Tilton[1] , it is not so much society that is part of the collapse of art, but rather the futility, and some would say the absurdity, of society. Von Junz[2] holds that we have to choose between capitalist subdialectic theory and textual capitalism. However, the premise of Lacanist obscurity suggests that language is capable of intent.
If one examines neopatriarchial desituationism, one is faced with a choice: either accept semiotic construction or conclude that narrativity is used in the service of hierarchy, given that Foucaults essay on the conceptualist paradigm of narrative is invalid. It could be said that Bataille promotes the use of neopatriarchial desituationism to read and modify sexual identity. The primary theme of the works of Madonna is the role of the reader as artist.

My point was simply the North Vietnam Army is still here, after 1975 they became The Vietnam Socialist Republic Army (there is still the North Vietnam Army). I could guess both of you have never traveled to Vietnam, most likely you gained your information here on youtube and at the movies. Come to Vietnam and see, at the DMZ you will get a feeling of the hell these people went through, then you sit there and spell "HUMBLED"!!!
NVA is still here dumb ass, I'm in Hue Vietnam, look at your history books and grow the fuck up. Oh by the way Vietnamese people are much better then Americans, I know I have lived both in Hanoi and LA so read a book, if you can.
You can't base a whole country on one city. That is just ignorant and prejudice. If I came to vietnam and saw a small fishing village filled with poor people, would it be right for me to say everyone in vietnam is poor? Hell no it wouldn't.
@Lebista For what? They defended their country against a bunch of uneducated invaders who think they can impose a way of life over a foreign people. You would have done de same if 500 000 foreign soldiers landed in your country to take control of it.
thats a very smart comment....... i grew up in belfast N.Ireland and we have been defending our country for years and years but still the british call us terrorist ?
@The7talker the invaders won the war the north sloterd the south kill Thousands we only helped to stop and beat the north back but we puled out Because of Hippies
@MrJohnwarra What's your point??? I know that there was already fighting. This has nothing to do with the existence of a war before. I just said that NV reacted normally against what they saw as an invasion. If a foreign army landed in my country to help my local enemies to kill me, I would fight back and kick the shit out of them (and they did). My point was to state that it is stupid to say that NV were bad ans SouthV or US were good in this conflict. So again, what's your point?
@The7talker It was'nt a invasion in termology,And ways they did'nt kick the americans ass,It took three years after the US lefted that North vietnam took over.
