How to Get Custom Textures into Skyrim!

just another question (wandering if it will be answered): when you open a dds file with nvidia plugin, you choose the "default sizes" option in the dialog or others?

Part.2 This is a good tut but it seems more directed at people who are familiar with the program that was used in this video(no clue what it is) as there is no explanation for the reasons why which step was made. What programs do i need in order to do this? Ive been looking for a tutorial on how to do this but noone goes into enough detail and explains why there doing certain things like why they are clicking on a particular button and what it does what it means. Im a complete noob at this but feel i could do a good job as im very picky and have attention to detail but without any proper tutorials i dont know where to begin. Does anyone know where a full fledged tut is for a complete noob like me? part.1

I've removed some details from a texture, but they're still casting shadows, how do I change the way it reflects light? Can someone point me to a tutorial or give me some keywords to look for one?
