lots of talk about Under Blackpool lights - just to clarify for anyone who may be confused - this video is not from Under Blackpool Lights. I think it's from Glastonbury 2005. This is Get Behind Me Satan era, Under Blackpool Lights was Elephant era
@wombat8881 Definately not Glastonbury, listen to the reverb - not the kind you get at an open air view. Not to mention that it's essentially in a field, the camera angle is all wrong.
Captain Beefheart ! wow! Jack's covering one of their mid-career commercial pieces, more MOR to true Beefheart fans but it's full of energy, let the run paint run run in red white and black, etc / etcOR was a pup
Beefheart is abstract expressionist while the White Stripes are Modernist/ Formalists. White Stripes encapsulates the traditional and Beefheart the avant-garde. The futurist primitivist Doc and the radar station is a MUST listen! Telephone! Telephone!
if u based their live performances off of this video u shouldnt, this isnt good quality, check out under black pool lights and ull pull ur head out of ur ass
That Capt. Beefheart Stripes EP with Party and Ashtray Heart & such was actually very very good. Most all Beefheart covers drown in their own hellish vomit, but The Stripes genuinely went for it, came out with something to be proud of. This video's obviously just the product of shit-poor sound.
Jack didn't fuck up anything, you just can't hear it very well . . . the studio version the White Stripes did sounds almost exactly like Captain Beefhearts, so idk how that is fucking it up
Not Glastonbury 2005.

I've seen em twice and both performances blew Black Pool Lights away. Not that it isn't great, because it is, but it isn't even them at their best.

defiantly. i have seen them 5 times, and every time was WAY better then black pool lights. but yet i still can get enough of blacck pool lights

I surely appreciate the attempt by White Stripes to let people know a good, almost forgotten, song by Captain Beefheart

This is truly an awful cover of the great Captain Beefheart "party of things to do" even if the sound quality is bad. Dissapointing. Du vraix caca

Oh stop complaing about the stripes. They're a fantastic band.

This wasn't very good. They don't play this song live enough for it to be good. I love the studio version much better. Jack can't remember the words!
