  • hey guys guess what? i'm 17 and i listen to this music. does the fact that i put my age in there make me cool?

  • "...And I want to watch cops beating up hippies!''

  • I'm 16 and i still love this music

  • I enjoy this due to the fact we played a Christmas spin-off of this song for a Christmas performance. Glenn Miller's music has enticed me to try out for jazz band this year.

  • Ahh the good old Diepod: Glenn Miller and the police vs hippies =)

  • I'm here 'cause of Twin Peaks :)

  • @franticgrowls Which episode featured this song?

  • I played this with my high school jazz band

  • simpsons

  • 3 People hit inadvertently the wrong button...

  • Yes I came here from American Dad but I've loved Glen Miller for a long time. I like all kinds of music. After this, I'll be listening to the Andrews Sisters, and then blink-182 after that. Mind fucked? I would not have known about this music if it weren't for TV shows and video games like American Dad and Bioshock.

  • i was lucky to be raised on this music among others..

  • why was i listening to Wu-tang clan and now this?

  • We played this in jazz band at my highschool last week and hot damn it was smooth.

  • Twin Peaks brought me here...

  • American dad!!!!

  • 0:30 makes me an erection

  • @MrCarrot62 Well, I'm not a doctor, but I think there is probably something abnormal about that. You should try calling Pennsylvania 6-5000 if it lasts for more than 4 hours though.

  • im 16 and I listen to this music all the time, that and the old country like johnny horton, merle haggard, and hank williams. Best music ever

  • @SneakyGoomba Why does your age matter?

  • @ShadowCrashed81 because I am WAY out of the age category that usually listens to this music

  • @SneakyGoomba Prove it.

  • @ShadowCrashed81 the hell do you mean prove it, i have dozens of these songs on my ipod. glenn miller, kay krysser, judy garland, bing crosby, tex williams, the ink spots

  • @SneakyGoomba You said you were way out of the age category that usually listens to this music. I asked you to prove it.

  • @ShadowCrashed81

I just ate a steak. The weather is nice.

  • @Skelros Cool.

  • This discussion just shows that every decade had it's punks-

the sixties had hippies, the seventies had punks, the eighties had yuppies, the nineties had white suburban kids acting like rappers and finally the 2000's had emos. Looks like Hipsters will be the new thing to offend people with working brains. Thank god I'm not in school anymore...

  • I wanna see cops beating up emos to the Dave Grohl and his orchestra

  • @DimensionsofChange Emos? That is so 2006. They're all college age hipsters now.

  • @ShadowCrashed81 Doesn't mean violence wont help the problem.

  • @DimensionsofChange It won't. Because they don't exist anymore.

  • @ShadowCrashed81 Oh trust me they still exist in south West Michigan. There is some cultural lag or something here.

  • @DimensionsofChange No there isn't.

  • @ShadowCrashed81 Well there are still emos.

  • @ShadowCrashed81 You can't just say no, do you live near southwest Michigan?

  • Those were the times when popular music still had grace, originality and was worth listening to.

I guess this was lost somewhere down the line in the 50/60's when the rise of global media created the "superstar", a media personality that is being promoted as a PERSON and not as an actor, musician etc.

Don't believe me?-tell me some successful artists today that sell their music and not themselves.

  • @playingmusiconmars I completely agree. More than half of all the musicians today are auto-tuned. They are more poster and money oriented than singing for enjoyment of themselves and others. I wish most of the culture from those days stayed as it was.

  • can anyone tell me which version his is?

  • Dude Dick Powell's gotta be here?

  • Dude Dick Powell's gotta be here

  • thumbs up if you came here because the abe simpson!!!

  • @markangelstudios haha i'm here because i'm a 70 year old who likes this music, but yes Abe Simpson and that ailen from American Dad brought me here :3

  • @BlueFireMai LOL!

  • SO FUCKING AWESOME

  • Love this one, too. And I was born after he died

  • 6500 is a part of phonenumber to hotel Pennsylvania across Madison Square Garden in NY. I use to live there when in town :-)

  • 2 people think the original had lyrics

  • 24.500-03!!! <--- Chileans know.

  • I wanna hear the Chili Peppers while watching cops beat up emos!

  • "Smeg, thats all we need. Glenn Miller boring us to death with pennsylvania 65000". :D

  • @i7fan idiot

  • @i7fan Since your bored to death, YOU JUST NEED TO LEAVE

  • @drive5050 Hey chill my friend. It is a quote from a brittish 80's comedy called Red Dwarf. I like this tune!

  • @i7fan fuck you and also you bore us with your stupid comment

  • @markangelstudios Very mature. Go play in the sandbox with your friends.

  • @i7fan Rimmer, you smeghead. There is no more damning evidence of his sniveling smegitry than his dislike of Glenn Miller.

  • @SnowBlind853 Haha :) Indeed. The smeghead Rimmer.

  • I wanna grease my hair up and wear a white t shirt and levis !!!

  • Could this result from playing a 45 at 33 rpm? I haven't actually played a 45 yet myself so I don't know what that sounds like.

  • I don't know if this is the first recording of GM's band doing this song, but he did a number of versions. My dad has this one on a 78 from the 1940s, so I'm confident that this is indeed Glenn Miller.

  • @suzabella68 This is not the original band but one of the newer versions.

  • @suzabella68 It's not Glenn Miller and his orchestra. It's a copy.

  • @4205lr but sounds good.

  • I don't know if this is the first recording of GM's band doing this song, but he did a number of versions. My dad has this one on an LP from the 1940s, so I'm confident that this is indeed Glenn Miller.

  • sorry guys but i have an original glenn miller record with all of his very first recordings and this is the correct speed

  • Too slow! Not comparable to the original.

  • Heard it on American Dad, this song kicks ass, haha!

  • @1337NL same!

  • @DAlvarez133 your stupid.

  • @ghsrunner94

Maybe you should learn how to spell before calling someone stupid.

  • because it's not Mr.Miller's sound (that's right, respect your elders, even if they're dead), i can't like thsi video much...im sorry...

  • what is the date of recording on this copy? i dont think this is his band.

  • @leatherneck7786 I agree. Glen Miller and his band never slowed it down this much. It just doesnt sound right whatsoever. Dont post it if its not genuine.

  • @jenniesimpson76 how about we let someone worthwhile say whether its genuine or not.

  • Great song, but when the piano plays those two notes in octaves, (ie., 0:27) I want to hear the jazz band say Pennsylvania 6-5000!

  • Were is the scream....

  • "I wanna see cops beating up hippies."

  • @Ndragonawa I wanna see hippies beating up dumbasses :)

  • @Ndragonawa grampa simpson quote nice

  • @Ndragonawa

    Yeah total combination..:-D

  • @Ndragonawa

i wanna see cops beating up the guy who doesnt like this song^^

  • @Ndragonawa So do I. Ohio state baby!

  • @Ndragonawa simpsons?

  • @Ndragonawa Hippies in the 1940's? I don't think so.

  • @bocaknights1 He's refrencing something, I dunno what it is though.

  • @Ryoku75 It's from an episode of the Simpsons when grampa Simpsons wants to commit suicide, and then goes to a person for assisted suicide and is connected to a "DiePod" and then he wants to see hippies beat up by the police while the Glenn Miller Orchestra is playing.

  • @Ndragonawa errr?? why??

  • @timboswingdancer ....it's from The Simpsons.

  • WOOT GO TROMBONE! We are playing this in my jazz band.

  • I love this version of it

  • It is the original sound.

  • This an In The Mood are my favourite Miller songs.

  • one of my favorites!

  • so sorry, it is not a glenn´s version... it is not his sound...

  • 24500-03

  • Nope!

  • Yep. listen to the original!

  • I use this song in my band!:)

  • Seems like a more modern version of the GM tune, but still good to listen to. Who's the band?
