1. Ok Computer; Exelents Songs, Goods B-sides, Good Sounds Quality, Top 5 albums of all time 2. The Bends; The most emotional songs of tom yorke writing in her life. 3. Amnesiac; Amazing quality sound and the best artwork ever. 7. Pablo honey; without Creep is a good Record 8; TKOL people need time listen this, it's a exelente album of this era.
The most face-meltingly awesome performance JH has ever hosted. Is the four-note sequence to "from a great height" a reference to a tune in Mendelssohn's Hebridean Overture (Fingal's Cave) (at around 2 minutes in)?
I watched this when it was broadcast in '97 and thought... good performance. After being surrounded by the s*** that is played on the radio and released by 'artists' since I now realise i was watching something very, very special.
The ending always gives me serious goosebumps. The way Thom spins and the entire room is completely silent, and then, out of nowhere, the entire studio audience just simultaneously bursts into rapturous applause. I can imagine the entire audience with mouths agape, suddenly rising to their feet, completely blown away by the performance. I only wish I could have been there to experience it with them.
As far as I know, no they don't, they hated TOURING at that time, they hated the success of the album and what it brought to the band, it was stressful.
@SabreFan84 It was the first Radiohead song I heard too... I remember thinking to myself "aw yeah, this is a pretty sick song" just at the beginning and every 30 seconds or so I remember growing more and more excited and amazed and by the time it got to the 'rain down' section my jaw was on the flaw :D Since then I've probably listened to every single sound-thing Radiohead have EVER released about 100 times minimum
I just can't express how inspiring and beautiful Radiohead's music is, they seem to hit so many different types of music with the most unique and mesmerising sounds on each of their albums
From the 'Pablo Honey' grungy, young sound to the 'The Bends', gloomy but vibrant sound to 'OK Computers' alienating, galactic sound to 'Kid A's perplexing, synthy sound. The list goes on. They even diverse their music more with In Rainbows and King of limbs. How do they do it?!?!?!
What a great diference the concerts from 1997 from concerts of 2003 o Glastonbury , it seems thome yorke was less high and had more passion for singing that song. Whatever Radiohead will be the best!
@historyris27 I agree. Radiohead is like when you are are super in love with a girl and and cant seem to get close enough while cuddling. When I watch radiohead I just can't like it enough! There are few words to describe it.
Johnny Greenwood is the prime example of what good guitar is, and proof that it isn't about hitting as many notes as possible in a second. Awesomesauce.
Oh and for people saying that the 'rain down' part is something that touches them emotionally then I guess you'd be kinda disappointed about since Thom himself says that the song's... a joke pretty much and there's nothing personal in the song at all.
Jonny Greenwood wrote the music for the "rain down" section. When Thom heard it he probably thought "wouldn't it be funny if I sang these lyrics and made this part into a mock religious hymn?" -- sticking with the cynical nature of the rest of the song. From what I've read, the song was constructed in a cynical way because radiohead was thought of by the media as depressed and morbid. So they constructed this super emotional piece to mock their own image and take the piss.
I did a cover of Thom Yorks guitar part in this song. I filmed from different angles and stuff. It was a lot of work all in all. Nevertheless I get hardly any views. 3:31 - 5:35 is what got me into Radiohead. Anyone who can compose such a moving piece of music must be absolute geniuses. I've been moved to tears many times during this part. It's like one man's desperate plea to god... as close as god as one can get in my opinion.
This is my favourite Radiohead song. I think it is superb. You're right about what the song feels like. A scared man who has no clue what the universe or his life is about...and the loud/hard rock sections is him saying 'Fuck you' to all hate, pain and destiny.
However I am a much bigger Beatles fan. A Day in the Life I greatly recommend a listen to. Tell me what you think if you haven't heard it before.
@MultiFunkalicious ok fair enough but i don't like their recent stuff, it's very samey & they try too hard to make every song sound like a classic rock anthem, the old stuff was fresh & original (still is).
