  • @audirama37 watch latest review lol

  • What boots are you using for run'n'gun or hiking these days?

  • Does anyone have experience with Matterhorn boots? (8 inch)

  • Comment removed

  • Hi am can you make boot laces out of paracord and if so do thay last long.

  • @TheGetintoit You may already know this, the answer is yes.(with 550 that is)

  • altama combat boots are great for hiking i walked about a mile and a half home from school on a dirt road for about a year in them and they worked great i didn't have the Mil-spec ones but i do recommend them

  • Hey Nutn what do you think of Timberland boots?

  • Geebus...i thought that band-aid was his thumb nail...

  • I THOUGHT I remembered seeing a vid about hiking boots! Glad I went searching and found this series. As usual, VERY informative and really helps with making not only the right choices, but also (like with ANYTHING you review) helps your set aside money for the boot you'll actually buy. Your are your best asset in the outdoors...they should ALWAYS get the royal treatment...ESPECIALLY when you're in harsh conditions.

    Thanks Nutn!

  • If you're smart and don't get a size that's too big you can easily stretch a boot out for a custom fit. As should be done with all shoes, imho.

  • Thank you soooo much for this video! I went out and bought $60 boots thinking they would do good in the snow because my other ones wore out. I had to come back down aced day 1 because they ripped but mostly because the material in side kept giving be blisters.

  • I have a pare of solos for mild conditions and have the -40 snow shoes from North Face that feel great, like a pair of running shows. I have to buy local due to the width of my feet.

  • Give a man fire, and you keep him warm for a day, set a man on fire and he will be warm for the rest of his life.

  • Hahah,nutnfancy says beewtz

  • You gotta' pound the trail, and put some dust on your soul.

    Very deep pun, Nutnfancy. Nice.

  • You really should treat your boots more often. I'd recommend toko (formerly biwell) or nikwax paste wax. I would recommend Limmer boot grease but those Merrell's are too soft. If you had old Ridgelines or Wildernesses, you could use Limmer boot grease. They are dried out and peeling from the rand. You are wasting money by not keeping them in good condition. Do not use snoseal.

  • Lowa Combat Gtx.... I swear by them. Best boot i've ever had

  • Danner Boots-Very high quality and made in the USA. I've been a carpenter and outdoorsman in western Washington "wet and cold" for most of my life and have worn all kinds of boots. A few years back I got a pair of the explorer hiking boots and was amazed at the quality and fit, hands down the best boots I've ever owned "just my 2 cents". Great vid. Keep up the good work.

  • ...an elf shoe. :-)

  • Rating have been disabled :<

I wanted to give this a Thumbs Up!

  • My backpacking shoes of choice are suede vans classics.

  • Nutnfancy, I just had to send out a huge thank you on this video. I followed what you said in here word for word and ended up with a set of Merrell mid rise moab ventilators. I'm an insurance adjuster and spend a lot of time not only hiking in the woods but in bunt buildings. I spent about an hour going through different boots and trying them on the incline and decline ramps and found these to fit the best. I'm at about a week now with them and wish I would have done this years ago. Thanks!

  • @twieneke76 Awesome comment, twieneke, thanks! -- Veri

  • is there a type of tactical military boot that you suggest

    pref. winter or cold weather

  • if you want a good brand in general go with Vasque we use them widely in the TAC-OP enviroment

  • whenever i tend to buy something i always tend to check on what he has to say bout a product and it never made me stray from a good choice

  • I love my Belleville's Great Video's who else does this.

  • This video help me research a good pair of boots. I purchased myself a pair of Limmer mid-weights, and all I can say is WOW. It pays to have craftsmanship and experience when it comes to buying a pair of boots.

  • im gonna go get my self a good pair of boots here in a few hours just watchin some nutnfancys advice

  • what i always wanted to know is why my issue combat boots were (the old altima black leather ones) were so horrible in wear, on icy side walks, on muddy ground. I actually put staples at one point on the bottom so i could get to the chow hall without falling. (by the way the staples really did work!)

  • anyone have experience with the columbia bugaboot? i have a pair right now, they're great, little warm but little work well for every day

  • Finally he has to take a low interest government sponsored loan to pay his expenses. After 5 years he (and most other fishermen) goes bankrupt, loses his home, and drags the whole economy down with them. The government will then blame capitalism. Their solution... more regulations on "greedy" fisherman.

  • so next, teach him how to shoot politicians. And recommend buying gold and silver coins.

  • Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day.

Teach a man to fish and he will eat for life... until the government notices that he is fishing. Then they will tax him 2 fish per day, force him to buy a fishing license, give him a quota of 3 fishes per day. Say he is polluting the river so he has to pay 1 fish per day to clean it up. Then he has to take his fish to a licensed, inspected, unionized fish processing plant to be processed. This costs 1 fish per day.

  • @XCritonX That made my day, thanks.

  • @XCritonX OR Teach a man to fish, impose no quotas and someone will overdo it and over fish the river and leave no fish for anyone else....Bummer.

Not everyone is responsible enough to be trusted.

  • Comment removed

  • @XCritonX Nah man I am not saying that. I am only stating that it is over-the-top and unrealistic to advocate super small or non governments.

While there is many policies, laws, etc that are highly debatable and questionable; I think there is too many government-provided services that citizens need and use every day to do away with government. Police, Firefighters, highways, quality standardization imposed on products, National Defense, consumer protection from big businesses, emergency aid,

  • @diamondd11 As I said I am not an anarchist. Some of the services you mentioned are indeed the responsibility of government. The answer i would like to give will not fit in YouTube answer box. Also, this is not really the place to get into this type of discussion.

  • @XCritonX etc, are all examples of these types of services. And while some people might think it's a good idea to remove the government's hand from their lives, I disagree. If your house is burning, do you want to fight it with only hoses and your neighbors help? Do you drive on paved roads? What can protect you from hostile nearby nations? Who should help when there is a hurricane?

This is not supposed to be sarcastic or mocking in any way. I simply wonder what your answers are to these issues

  • @XCritonX lol you said you are an anarchist... "I am an anarchist, however..." in your first comment.

  • @diamondd11 You caught my typo. It was late and I was bleary eyed. Now I feel kinda stupid. :) I am going to delete that post, I don't want anyone thinking I am an anarchist.

  • @XCritonX don't complain. suck ze Zionist cock. You people have been doing it for years already.

    Oorah at that!

  • @PUNISHERUltra How did the crazy racists find this video?

  • @XCritonX I have no idea, but PUNISHER is blocked now. Carry on. -- Veri

  • Wow.. thankyou for sharing. Impressive. Great job with your classes. amazing. Really, don't ever be discouraged in any way with the work that you are doing here... I'm sure that there are many who are thankful, but are too critical to mention it to you. Albeit, your insights and shared knowledge thru experience may save lives. Perhaps, it is already the case, because even the small stuff adds up and overwhelms in a trying situation. Thanks again.
  • danner

  • i dont really think they are hiking boots....but i like merrels and i'll check out the Lowa

  • Great info! I learned a lot. This what youtube should be!

  • for my feet haix boots and shoes are best fitting. no problems waling with them the whole day. they are made of quite good quality so i think i will stick to them. but after all - as has been said already - anybody has to find out which shoe fits best to himself.

  • lol i probably will not be able to fit it in a 10 min video

    but they're cool videos anyway

  • Do you think ur funny?

  • I used german Lowa's. They are almost bombproof, fit great and dont cost the earth.

Im not sure if you can get them in America but over here almost all of British Army wear Lowa's(well, atleast most of my battalion lol)

  • no, teach a man to fish and he will sit in a boat all day and drink beer!! i love your vids dude

  • Wow man great info!! and yeah i bought a awesome pair of RedWings $240.00 and them sombitches shrank in only 1 yr. cant wear them now and that sucks..Glad i saw this video cause i prob. would have made the same mistake..Thanx

  • Great video I loved it

  • any man who can talk about boots for 10 minutes knows his shit :)

  • 30 min.

  • haha there are 5 parts to it

  • Blundstone! Ask for them by name!

  • I love Zamberlan boots, they are expensive, but unreal in how long they last.

  • I HATE buying boots or shoes in general. I wear a size 14-15 and no-one carries that size. I Tried buying a pair of boots online from a major distributer and they sent me a baseball shirt by accident. Don't ask me how. I no longer buy shoes online. Any ideas on where to buy large boots/shoes?

  • I'm sorta in the same boat. I wear something between a 9 and 9 1/2 and boot never fit me either. They'll always be too loose or too tight,

Try an Army surplus store. It worked for me.

  • Great Review so far.

    Fit = everything.

I spend a ton of time in the woods and i'd much rather go barefoot than have boots that don't fit. splinters and cuts heal faster and are less debilitating than bone compression wounds.

  • I remember when I had to buy my combats for field exersises when I was in the Cadets (as the seniors wore them) My boots that I happend to get were a couple sizes teo big. the first time out, my feet were in absoulute pain. But I tripple layered the Wool Socks to make them fit better and after that no problems. What surprised me was how water resistant they were. If I can find a another pair that is relitivly new in my size I woll pick them up rightaway as they are good in the snow.

  • Damn Nutn', oil them babies!:)

  • im into Lowa boots, because i love my feet and those are manufactured in Europe. And they arent releasing new models every month, trying to outsmart the dull.

  • Do you oil your boots or just use waterproof spray them if anything at all?

What about shoe laces? I have a problem with the laces ripping. I've tried leather, Kevlar, hockey skate laces. To date the best have been hockey skate laces with Kevlar coming in a close second.

Do you know any reliable brands and styles of shoe laces?

  • Paracord makes the best boot laces you can get. Just cut to length and make sure you melt the ends so it does not fray

  • this reply is for rooftopeagle

  • rooftopeagle.

you can cut canvas or leather to cover your laces and take the beating for them. Use light wire to stitch it into your boot lace-holes with your laces.

you can also replace laces with para cord. then if you tear anything it will be your boot, not your lace.

  • Haix, Hanwags, Lowa's .

  • I own two pairs of the MERRELL CHAMELEON II STRETCH and I love them but NO ankle support. For a low-top they're great and yes I have put miles and miles of desert, riverbed and Michigan woods on them. They do make your feet smell though. Mine usually don't but with the Merrell CSII they will. So, I deduce that it's from it not breathing well as Merrell says they do. They do not.

    Thanks for this video. 5/5

Keep Swelling My brain With Knowledge Nutn!!!

  • Shut the fuck up please

  • shut up douche bag nutn's awesome

  • Wonderful video.

  • Give a man a fish, you feed him for a day

Teach a man to fish, you've feed him for a lifetime

    Perfect

  • light a man a fire he'll be warm for a day; light a man on fire he'll be warm for the rest of his life

  • REAL ones may not need advice

but everyone has to start from somewhere

I highly doubt you were dropped in the woods by yourself as a child and lived on the land without advise from others.

(this comment is directed at the spammer "SURVIVALIST101")

  • wat an baby you are SURVIVALIST101

  • lol

  • rei supports clubs including the sierra clubs which are against hunting, ohv, and the nra. Nutn, lets try to keep REI out of the videos.

  • dood with dears hunting is almost a nesesity they are over populated and if left unchececked they will eat all the food they have. we cut down forists and made open vallys and they like plases inbetween open and forists so its our fault they are so many its our responsabilaty to keep it under controle

  • what kind of tripod are you using?

  • Merrell are the best

  • The only boots you need are older model German para boots. Not the model 2000's though, they are trash.

  • wow, so it is actually possible to talk 10 minutes about a shoe.. I'm impressed

  • do these classify as winter boots?

  • every video i learn something new which i just love.

  • I got a pair of leather hiking boots that look alot like those. you all can laugh, but I payed 2 bucks for them at goodwill. THEY ROCK! waterproof, very comfortable, and rugged. I've punished them for 2 years and I'll prolly be wearing them for another 5 or more.

  • Very informative video. Thanks again for sharing all your great research and knowledge. Do you want a steel shank in a hiking boot?

  • Best honest reviews online that I've found, one man opinions as stated but always based on personal experience, thanks Nutnfancy.

  • i have a pair of marine boots they work pretty well they are very light too

  • I simply stumbled upon this vid via checking out your "nutnfancy" 180+ video library on Utube. I can tell you for sure that this is outstanding/essential knowledge! But... you don't need "US"...(+MC) to back you on how critical boot fit is.. because for those who know, well, one word: Bivouacs!

  • Thanks for the useful info, sir.

  • Very educational, thanks Nutn.

  • You could always try ant test them locally then get a bargain online.

  • You can do that, but you could attribute the extra money spent at brick and mortar stores for the service they provide, especially if they have knowledgeable staff. It's not cool to take advantage of a store's service then take your business somewhere else. It's another story if you already know what boot you want.

  • True, but then again many people have to save every cent because they can't afford to pay so much. A college buddy of mine buys his camping gear at the salvos. My comment is for those who can afford to pay the premium dollar. By all means if you can afford it I wholeheartedly agree to support your local business.

  • I get the skin on the tops of my toes rubed raw almost everytime I go downhill on a mountain. Also sometimes I have minor blisters on the heels of my feet. Do you know what could be the problem?

  • Sounds like your boots are just slightly too big. Try wearing a pair of thin socks (business type socks) under your heavier hiking socks.

This way all the friction (that cause blisters and such)is taken away from your foot and the boot to just between the two socks.

  • Yay, finally part one :D Waited to watch this until part one was finished uploading. Thanks Nutnfancy! Just what i was looking for actually.
