i didn't see neely loss, i seen neely landing the best of the punches, seen featherstone throw a sucker punch at neely in frustration. to this day featherstone will tell thats why he did it. he plays in some of the bruins legends games meet him a few times he is actually a nice guy but glen got the loss
@hal4sure, yeah I bumped into him (not literally) at the Fours in Boston after a B's game a couple years back and I couldn't figure out who he was. I was at the end of the bar where a number of ex Bruins were standing around with their trophy ho's and I kept thinking to myself; "who is this guy with the ginormous hands?" I' m not huge like Featherstone, but at 6'0" 210lb with big hands myself, I couldn't help but notice the size of his mitts. Ended up talking to him and he was very gracious.
Actually Featherstone was fairly tough when he was young. His first loss was to Randy McKay. He had draws against Kocur, Dave Brown and Mick Vukota, and he beat Peluso multiple times, Jeff Odgers, and Basil McCrae once before losing in their rematch. He turned into a punching bag during the 93-94 season, which is why Boston got rid of him. It was rumored he had a little problem with the bottle, as many NHL fighters have had.
@BoSoxnation1972 very true a friend of mine works at the wallace civic center and after an alumni game he went over his house and drank with him till 2 oclock in the mornning.
@47tooter I'm not saying Glen was a bad kid...just that he had a lot of injuries when he was young, and when young kids have a lot of money, and a lot of free time on their hands, they usually go out and party too much. It's what turned Link Gaetz from a possible top 20 fighter of all time, into a joke bar league fighter.
well its a tv network only showed in new england.. what do you want commentators who trash boston and cheer for the oppenents? at least u kno who there rooting for unlike football where they try to be unbiased but fail miseably
And then they were teammates.

@chris185765
So if they were both standing before you, you'd tell them you think they're both pussies...right?

all home commentators are biased because its what they get paid for.

Brett Hull must be doing something right to have "floated" his way to a couple of Cups

Funny when Neely appears to be on the losing end they start to make up excuses as to why he shouldn't fight, he's a star etc...
Have another one Derek I think you're sobering up there!
Suprarush 3 years ago
Derek Sanderson was one of the greatest commentators, as long as you are a Bruin fan. ;)
snouter 3 years ago
yeah the bruins seem to pick a lot of biased commentators.

Yeah I agree. I hope you know I'm a diehard Boston sports fan and I have no problem with biased announcers.
AGP12345 2 years ago
Yup....Neely could have taken out a knife and stabbed Featherstone and Sanderson would have defended him. That's why we loved him though

@monte213 How many 3 time 50 goal scorers did Featherstone fight in his career, exactly? LMAO
