Very sad that Edge had to retire, but that's the thing. He HAD to. If he didn't, he was going to end up either paralyzed or dead.

As for Orton moving to Smackdown, I kind of like it. Orton's best suited to be on Raw, but they needed a premier talent to elevate and legitimize their "B" program. It's a curveball, it's something fresh and new. It's kind of nice.
