Barry Bales Allison's long time bass player

  • Traditional Bluegrass at it's best.

  • Who's on bass? I can't tell.

  • Tom Adams was one of the most incredible bluegrass banjo players ever. Awesome!

  • @MrShocktime absolutely agree - about the cleanest ever. I've lost my fathers CD of "Right Hand Man" but when I used to teach beginner banjo I'd always say "Get that and thats how it ought to sound one day".

  • oooo boys thats a mighty fine a pickin and a diggin!

  • Great stash on Dudley. His voice was still great on this.

  • What a great clip. And what a great mustache. It's HUGE :)

  • awesome! how can you not love this stuff?

  • awesome!

  • Tom Adams just tearing it up on the ole fiver

  • i bet a lot of chicks used to take rides on his 'stache!!

  • Could listen to Allison all day

  • Dude, you got something on your lip!

  • Steffey is great. Very clean. David McLaughlin is a great player as well and a true gentleman. He helped me a great deal in how to approach a mando break and no one does it like him I think. Very tastful in his approach.

  • That's Allison? That's Dudley? Well, it IS his voice. I loved seeing the JMB many times in the late 70s/early80s.

  • Dudley and Alison.......two of the greatest singers......ever!.

  • Nope, that's the one and only Dudley Connell!

  • Is that Nietzsche on vocals? He rocks.

  • adams clean as usual

  • Awesome singing and picking.

  • i wonder is he had a fling with ally

  • Dudley looks like Magnum PI

  • he looks more like tom selleck to me

  • do you realize who Magnum is ? whyudumb?

  • Howdy! IThat thar is a great performance! t don't make no difference if and Alison got Blonde nor Brown hair. She is the best! Also, am happy to see that Cheech what's from Cheechy n' Chong has come over to sing some Bluegrass. Who knew he could a holler like that? All the best, Judd Jugmonger (PS. see out video fer a fish-melt lesson).

  • That's one large mustache!

  • As much as I like Steffey, I would rather hear David McLaughlin in this style. I think he fits this style better.

  • I love Eddie Stubbs and Alison's playing. Both are great at what they do

  • These guys were awesome. Great music and great guys.

  • fiddleplayer, you misunderstood my sarcasm.

Electric guitar players have to fight endlessly against the Blues Nazis who insist that the music must never change, that only certain instruments can be used, and that introducing new ideas somehow kills off what they like to call "the passion." IMO, that's a crock whether you're talking about blues or bluegrass.

  • You don't like Alison Krauss? I know what you mean... all that taste and intonation, all those ideas dragged in from other idioms... she sucks. Bluegrass should always be derivative and slightly out of tune! :)

  • I know what you mean....bluegrass should be strictly bluegrass. don't drag all kind of other stuff in it. playing fiddle is about the passion, not the intonation...

  • Oh the irony: I come from the flattest country on earth (the Netherlands), but I love the Mountain boys! And Alison of course...

  • Great...Great...Great!

  • Dudley, Tom Adams, Alison, Adam Steffey, and Barry Bales... Don't get a much better line up than that! Thanks for posting.

  • There are two singers who really make justice to this song, one is Dudley, the other is Jack Cooke...this version is fantastic, that's what I call SOLID bluegrass!

  • Is'nt that tom adams on the banjo?

  • Sho nuff!

  • DUDLEY IS GREAT!!!!

  • i miss hearing alison's fiddle work

  • Fine banjo work!

  • I'm almost positive Dudley got Mustache of the Year at the IBMA awards that year.

Seriously though, OUTSTANDING music. He's one of the best ever.

  • love this, can't stop watching, true words, praise the Lord.

  • Dudley- You knock 'em all dead!

    Hugh Moore

  • watch dudley during the mandolin break

  • what passionate convincing singing i love the way he's commited

  • thts the sh%t!

  • thats the most amazing mustaschei have ever seen. . . . .ever!

  • Johnson Mountain boys rock! Add Allison Kraus and it's like you are turning the amp to 11!

This is really cool. Thanks for posting!

Does anyone have a video of the Johnson Mountain Boys doing "Let the World Talk"?

  • That's a great song.

  • Ah, Dudley! What a voice! And he only gets better with age.

  • I could stay up 32 hours a day and 8 days a week to watch and listen to these great musicians. Thanks for posting!!!!!!

  • Bluegrass on steroids!

  • awesome

  • Someday the wooly bear caterpillar moustache will come back in style...

JMB and old Union Station...the last great old school hard-drivin' bands!!!
