  • This is asking me to install a later version of adobe flash player in order to view. I just had the computer rebuilt with the newest versions and Windows 7.. So I'm confused on what version of flash player I'd need to install. Latest= newest? I've done all the microsoft updates last week. Thanks so much for your time.

  • THANK YOU!!!!!!

  • @jennfurr1 You're most welcome. Thanks for commenting and have a great day!

  • How can you make the video not a black screen, make it has some photo cover the cover thing and started playing it when you click the sort of screen shot? please tell ms ASAP

  • @xbendan123 Have you tried embedding other videos to try and troubleshoot the problem? If not, please do this to see whether you are be presented with the black screen for that video in particular or every video that you try.

  • @briggssheep1 Thank you very much; I really do apreciate it! Have a great day!

  • Excellent. Thank you for making it so clear.

  • Thanks so much.

  • @rreemer No problem; thanks for commenting and have a great day!

  • @becrotojo This is an error that I have no yet come across I'm afraid. Try updating ado e flash player and initiating a Windows (Microsoft) update and see if that remedies the problem. That's all i can think of at the moment besides reinstalling PowerPoint, but if I think of something else, I'll get in touch. Sorry I could not be of more help. Have a great day!

  • I have follwed your instructions step-by-step and my video will still not play. I have tried multiple videos including yours and all I get is a black box that when pressed turns white and that's it, no audio, no video. When I check the embeded source link it brings me to the YouTube video but for some reason it won't play it within PPT. Got any suggestions?

  • I have a problem! Im trying to make a powerpoint for a School project and im doing research on Louis Armstrong. I follow your steps and embed the video but when i click play on the youtube video in my Powerpoint it says "This video contains content from SME. It is restricted from playback on certain sites". I tried to embed this video into my powerpoint and it worked great! but the actual video i need doest work. Is there any way i can fix it? or just look for a new Louis Armstrong Video??

  • @NorthWestThreesixO The copyright holder has (for whatever reason) not allowed the video to be embedded on any other location. You'll have to find a new video I'm afraid.

  • what if all I want to embed is audio from youtube? for example, I want to embed the Match Game theme into a powerpoint for a matching quiz. Any ideas in that case?

  • @2012Learning Not unless you download the audio separately no. Alternatively you could resize the video so tiny that you can hardly see it. However, I haven't tried this and I therefore don't know whether you would actually be able to click it to play it.

  • When I do this, I get a black rectangle even when I hit play slideshow, and PPT says I need adobe flash even though I already have it installed. Anyone know what the issue ould be??

  • @Allouryesterdays1 This is clearly an error and not meant to happen. I would try uninstalling a reinstalling the latest version of Adobe Flash Player from the official website and try the process given in this video again. Do you use Google Chrome? If so, it has it built in so you may not necessarily have adobe flash player installed separately, so installing it 'again' may well fix your problem here. I hope I was able to help you out. Have a great day!

  • Is there some way to get the video to start at a certain place?

  • @ellieg757 I'm afraid there is not, no, at least not officially within PowerPoint. Sorry!

  • @Musicarta darn, i figured. thanks anyway!

  • @ellieg757 I was hoping they were going to implement some more customization to embedded objects in the 2010 version (as it's not all that different from 2007) but unfortunately, they didn't. Let's hope the next version includes this (probably very convenient) extra option.

  • how do you stop the music from playing in the background while the vid is playing? please help

  • @mysterygirl4455 I presume your real question is 'how do I mute the video once it is embedded into PowerPoint?'. Well, you just click the sound icon in the YouTube player (bottom left of the video) just as you would if your were on YouTube itself. If I've misunderstood your question, feel free to elaborate it for me to fully understand. Have a great day!

  • finally someone i can hear! thank you and your loud voice! :)

  • Thanks man

  • Thank you, this was very helpful.

  • @Curtis14Granderson You're most welcome. Thanks a lot for commenting; I really do appreciate it. Have a great day!

  • Outstanding tutorial! I've watched a lot of different tutorials, from photoshop to car-repair-stuff to CSS SDK Hammer-Editor, and i believe that this is the best one i've ever seen. Quick, short and easy to follow. Great job!

  • @CounterZone Wonderful comment; I really appreciate it! Thanks and have a great day!

  • Thanks tanks that help me a lot.But how did you insert that little square on the top right corner with motion. I make a lot of presentation and I still haven to learn how to insert moving backgrounds or things like that. If you can help me with that would be lot of help.

  • @Victor122484 Although I do have the ability to create something of similar stature myself, I was actually using an animated template from the official office website; the link for which can be found in the description box above if you are so interested. I hope I was able to help you out. Have a great day!

  • do u know how to embed a video from your facebook to ur youtube

  • ON MY POWERPOINT ITS SAYS MOVIE NOT VIDEO AND THERE IS NO OPTION FOR VIDEO (MOVIE) FROM WEB SITE

  • @totaldramafan1234 Are you sure that you are, indeed, using PowerPoint 2010 and not PowerPoint 2007? If you are using PowerPoint 20010, then I'm not sure why this is the case. I can only suggest downloading the YouTube video instead and then inserting it as a movie.

  • @Musicarta i have got 2007

  • @totaldramafan1234 Then that's why. This method was only implemented into PowerPoint 2010. I have sent you a lengthily YouTube message on exactly how do this same process, but in PowerPoint 2007 instead. I hope you find it useful. Have a great day!

  • @Musicarta Boy, I sure could use that info too! I followed another 'how to' and all I get is a white screen. I was hopeful with your instructions, until I realized I had 2007. Can you assist??

  • @megoodgal1 I have now added a full set of steps and instructions on how to do this same process, but in PowerPoint 2007, in the description box above. I hope you find it most useful. Have a great day!

  • How do you do it on Office 2011 for Mac? It doesn't have the "Video from Website" option.

  • @Def2Jay I'm afraid I don't own a computer that has the Mac operating system and, as a result, I'm afraid I have never used Office 2011 for Mac so I am unable to assist you on this matter. I am a Windows screencaster and technology video maker. I am afraid Macs are not yet in my portfolio of knowledge or content production. Perhaps this will change in the future, but not yet. I would suggest looking for another video or website to try to learn how to complete this process in Office 2011 for Mac.

  • @Musicarta I did check it out on other sites and videos. Turns out you have to download the video and convert it to mpeg4 before you can add it on your presentation.

    Still, thank you!

  • searched* others*

  • oh sweet jesus, Thaaaaaaaanks mate! I serchead everywhere and there was always a error, but your detailed video helped me a lot! Thanks for it mate, I'll post this video on the other that aren't detailed! regards

  • @ChrisD00100 Thanks for the great comment; I really appreciate it! If you want to see more videos in the future, feel free to subscribe. I take requests, too! Have a great day!

  • Is there a wy to make the video play automaticlly withouting having to click play

  • @pcaldwell007 There is currently no way to do this in PowerPoint; they should have implemented it into the settings side panel in 2010, but unfortunately, they didn't. I haven't research this (someone may have made a modification in order for it to play automatically) but playing the video automatically is currently not an available feature in any version of Microsoft PowerPoint.

  • Hi, this video was really helpful until I tried to insert "official" videos such as music videos onto powerpoint. Instead of playing the video, the message :"This video contains content from Vevo (or EMI). It is restricted from playback on certain sites." and underneath that is gives you a link to watch the video on youtube. Is there any way to get past this snag?

  • @xAngelxofxDreamsx No, I'm afraid not. That is there for legal reasons. Alternatively, you could download the video and put it into PowerPoint using the same method as shown in the video, but selecting 'Video from File...' instead. However, I advise against it as its a bit of a pain. You would have to transfer the PowerPoint presentation file and the video file to wherever you wish to play the presentation; the video file has to be on the local computer on which you are presenting the slideshow.

  • I have 2010 powerpoint, did everything as I saw and it worked the first time. I left the house with my laptop, ran through the rest of my presentation else where, came home and now it won't work. I deleted it all and started over with this one page and yet I can't get the embed to work. It constantly gives me the "power point cannot insert a video from this embed code. verify the code is correct then try again." Any idea's? It was working so great until I left with my laptop, it is weird.

  • thanks man. helped me a lot

  • useful

  • i followed your directions and it worked when i put on my first video. but when i tried to put on another or more it gives me a popup right after i click the insert button at 1:48 in your video the popup says " power point cannot insert a video from this embed code. verify the code is correct then try again." i went through the same exact steps you show and even tried the same video and different ones it shows me this message for every one i try.

  • @lilzinani I'm not sure why this error would occur. All I can think is that the box next to 'Use old embed code' wasn't checked, but I doubt that is the case as you said you followed my steps exactly. I'll get back to you if I find a fix for your particular problem.

  • @Musicarta thank you i tried doing it again today and again the first time the video inserted but after i tried to play it the box went black and would let me upload any videos from a website though it worked if i downloaded the videos but thats not always an option. thank you for your time and effort.

  • @lilzinani o and almost forgot when i try to play the inserted video it gives me a pop up saying " powerpoint is unable to locate the linked media file (insert link) do you want to locate it yourself?" if i click yes it just takes me to files on the computer and as this is not downloaded i dont know if i can find it like that. again thank you

  • @lilzinani ok so found a way around it had to download a program that allows me to download youtube videos to my computercalled "youtube downloader" then from there converted it to wmav format then just did insert from my computer instead of website thanks again for helping me through this

  • @lilzinani Indeed, I was going to suggest downloading the video instead; although a less convenient method, I'm glad you managed to reach your desired result in the end. Thanks for letting me know and I hope you have a great day!

  • @lilzinani Indeed, I was going to suggest downloading the video instead; although a less convenient method, I'm glad you managed to reach your desired result in the end. Thanks for letting me know and I hope you have a great day!

  • @Musicarta: great explanation, but like lilzinani, I'm also getting the error message: verify the embed code and try again. i've tried it with different videos just to be sure it wasn't just the video I was using and I do believe i've followed your instructions to the T, but it still won't work. I do have Ppt 2010, not 2007 so that's not the issue. Any other thoughts?

  • @jennybee1209 I've done some further research into this problem and I have may found a possible reason. On every uploaded YouTube video, the uploader has the option to either allow the embedding of their video or disallow the embedding of their video. This setting can be changed as any time which would explain why some previous comments have said that it worked at first, but then didn't work at a later date. This is my best guess for this problem and it is of course beyond my control.

  • Thank you!

  • @ButterArrow12 You're very welcome. Thanks for commenting and have a great day!

  • I am also using powerpoint 2010 64 bit and the "video from website" is grey and can not be clicked. I was told the embedding option does not work with 64 bit, is this true?

  • @Arielhotcarmel Yes, what you're saying is correct. To get around this, I make use of the 32-bit version for this particular process. If you don't want to do that, I do have an alternative fix that I will be happy to share with you in the form of a video if you so desire. Just let me know if you are interested.

  • i totally agree!!!

  • my powerpoint doesn't have a "video from website" option ....

  • @hayleypdowd I repeat the comment that I posted to someone else (currently in the top comments): I think you'll find that you are not using PowerPoint 2010 and are, instead, using PowerPoint 2007. This method is only for the latest version. However, I have sent you a private message via YouTube on how to embed a YouTube video into PowerPoint 2007. I hope you find it useful and have a great day!

  • this helped me so much with my project :)

    thanks

  • it's not working for my mac is this only for PCS?

  • @Dance4evereverever or should i say i can't find the video from website icon

  • @Dance4evereverever I don't use the Mac operating system and neither do I use the Microsoft Office Suite in it. However, what I can say is that the 'Video from Web Site...' is present in PowerPoint 2010 only (not the 2007 version). I'm afraid a different method is required if you want to embed a YouTube video in PowerPoint 2007. If you would like, I could make a tutorial in the near future on how to do this in your given version; it is different I'm afraid.

  • Thank you so much....This Video was life saver!

  • @Shay6711 Really glad to hear it. Feel free to subscribe for more videos in the future. Have a great day!

  • Thank you so much! I was like, I really need to embed a video. My roommate told me I needed to look it up. I felt so dumb for not thinking of that! Oh well, cuz this helped sooooooo much. Thank you thank you thank you!

  • @aviationdancenerd No problem. Thanks a lot for commenting. I'm honoured by the fact that, through searching, you found my video as oppose to someone else's. Feel free to subscribe for more videos in the future; I do upload content regularly. Have a great day!

  • Thanks! Saved my life.

  • @TheCrazyGuy91 No problem! I'm pleased that I was able to help you out. Thanks for commenting and have a great day!

  • @musicarta Do you know how to crop a video down in PPT? For example, if you wanted to cut out the first twenty seconds of a video, how would you do this? Also, do you know how to get a video to play without having to click it during the presentation?

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks for helping me! You saved my life in my business powerpoint presentation! Keep up the good work! Liked and SUBBED!

  • @falamita No problem! I'm really glad that I could help you out. Thanks for commenting, liking and subscribing; I really appreciate it!

  • @Musicarta You are very welcome!

  • This didn'y work as when i went to press video from website the button was avaliable? Any ideas?

  • @emilybatson I think you'll find that you are not using PowerPoint 2010 and are, instead, using PowerPoint 2007. This method is only for the latest version. However, I have sent you a private message via YouTube on how to embed a YouTube video into PowerPoint 2007. I hope you find it useful and have a great day!

  • Thank you.

  • what screen casting tool did you use if you dont mind me asking.?

  • @rach0891 I use Camtasia Studio to record my screen in full 1080p (1920 x 1080) and edit the video.

  • @Musicarta I embedded the video successfully but it doesn't play.... the picture is there, and i click the play button but it's not playing. What do I do?

  • i cant click on "video from web" button any ideas why?

  • @TheCarebear728 I don't believe there is, no. Sorry.

  • @Musicarta i cant click on "video from web" button any ideas why

  • @stari1grad1novi1sad Are you sure you are using PowerPoint 2010 and not 2007. This exact method demonstrated in this video only works in 2010. It is possible to embed a video into PowerPoint 2007 though, it just requires a different method. I would be happy to send you the link to a video on how to do this in PowerPoint 2007 if you would like.

  • @Musicarta im sure. but it would be useful if u could send me a link so i could try.

  • @stari1grad1novi1sad A link to what exactly?

  • where did you get this template?

  • @patelk0524 Hi. As I can't paste the URL in this comment, I have placed the link in the description for you. It is a free, animated, PowerPoint template from Microsoft's official Office website. I like it very much too.

  • @Musicarta thanks man
