I remember this song as a young 22 year old laddie because it came out just after the Falkland's war & in their video they were wearing service uniforms. One of the lads who fought down there (Gordon Cameron MacPherson) was with 45 Commando & didn't come home, that & other songs always make me think of that young lad. God be with you Highland laddie. Alba gu bràth.
It's sad and lovely at the same time to be nostaligic, I wish that I could return to those days when I was so innocent and thought that youth was forever, but sadly now those day's are gone.
I used to like B.F. but when I listened to this one for the first time, back in 84 I loved it! Still sounds perfect. Madonna was making her first big moves around that time, can't believe she's still making it big while many others, including Buck Fizz are almost erased from showbusiness......
I heard this song on radio 11 years ago. Unfortunately that was the last time I ever heard it and they never mentioned who sang it. I was just lost, but thankfully I remembered part of the lyrics with "Now those days are gone" and googled it. I am really thankfull for the power of the internet cause it helps us bring back good memories.
I remember listening to this group and still loving them after all this time. I grew up and miss that amazing time, regardless of the shoulder pads, etc. Great music and crazy dressing.
Never mind lady haha beyonce rihanna & all that soulless fake bunch. You have to be a grown up & have lived a bit to really appreciate what this song is about
I was a huge fan back in the day. Was very young - and devastated when they were involved in the coach crash and, in turn, split up. Followed them from Eurovision. I lived in the next road to Mike Nolan in Essex. He was very well respected and so was his privacy. Happy days. :)
A chunky slice of synth pop with Camera, to this spine tingling virtually accapella ballad, to the raunch of If You Can't Stand The Heat. Andy Hill's writing and production skills take some beating.
This song is about the crossroads that all couples find themselves at, at some point in their lives. Some don't take the right direction, thinking the grass is greener and the road smoother the other way. Been there, done that, but thankfully we both chose the same path and the right way. This song just sums up all yhose things. Superb and poignant...
@1305alz tell that to forbes magizine which placed her as the 4th most important person in the entertainment industry and 2nd most important person in the music industry or tell that to the makers and and C.O's of i pods, i phones, and all digital music where she is no.1 in sales. just my opinion. OMG I was so in love with Mike.Rem when he was hurt so bad when their tour bus crashed? He had his last rites? I was only 12 but couldn't eat or sleep!
bucks fizz were the 1st group I was ever into, aged 9, but love the songs as much as i did then now. This is one of my faves along with title track "Are You Ready".
As good today as they have ever been. Mike is funny on stage, he does this song with the help of the girls....jay does great vocals on 'when we were young', highlight of the night.....great too meet e m too...loved it
Graet at what they do....pure pop and i saw them live in newark last night....had my photo took with em and theyre brilliant live....fun fun fun.....better than all this american hype in the charts today......bucks fizz rule at what they do....who cares who fell out with who.....theyre still going....
They all hated each other, the two lassies loathed each other as Cheryl became more popular and was classed as the sex bomb in the band which didn't go down well - great band pure 80's crap pop can't be beaten
Super-tolle Nummer von Bucks Fizz ! Wer hätte gedacht, daß so ein langsamer Song (nahezu Acapella !) so einen hohen Charts-Einstieg verbuchen konnte. United Kingdom macht's möglich ! ! ! !
can anyone remember the fizz from 1981, if so does anyone remember mike nolan going out with ted robbins sister kate, who was in eurovision in 1980 and had a single out in 81 with more than in love, i believe she sung the song for mike ? any info please thanks...
well alls well and said in my message but didnt really answer my question does it i know all about kate robbins from 1980 from crossroads and spitting image, but did kate and mike have a torrid affair ? as kate suposed to be married when kates more than in love song was released... was the song for mike nolan or her alledged husband?.... any info please
When Kate Robbins was in Crossroads, she was supposed to be singer who was staying at the hotel and fell in love with a director called Adam Chance. 'More than in Love' was supposed to be her latest single, I am led to believe, so many people enquired about the song when it was continually played on Crossroads, they decided to release it, I dont think it was aimed at either Mike Nolan or her husband.
a vastly underated recording act the eurovision is a blessing and a curse. bucks fizz are up there with the best british pop legends. simply terrific.
I always thought this was an album track, never realised it was a hit. Jay and Bobby looking at each other whilst singing - very corny! But I sill love it...
The only problem I have with this song is that they were too young to be singing such a sad song. The song is fantastic, but i am sad everytime i here it. I know that that is it's purpose, but would have liked some older people to sing it to me, lol. Bucks Fizz should have have gone so much further than they did. True Talent xxx

I was happy to see it is here & to be wrong! Their 6th Uk hit (#8), reminds me of my 1st love, wasn't 'our song' but takes me back to those days & the rest of my youth.
Superb song! It's a bit sad it didn't make any higher in the chart. It was indeed a song that prove Bucks Fizz to a place on top of the list among all vocal pop groups of the 80's
I loved this song when it came out although I never understood it's meaning like I do now. Haven't heard it for years but still love it now. Just one question - where have all the years gone?
I memorized this song when I was a teenager, but I never knew who sang it. A friend of my brothers had put a mix of music on a tape, and this was on it. I absolutely loved it (still do!). I'm glad to finally know who sings it (call me clueless!).

Beautiful. Hadn't heard this for at least 15 years. Lovely vocal arrangement. Made me wonder why Bobby got so many more lead vocals than Mike, as this proved conclusively (at least IMHO) who had the better voice.
