Regardless of what anyone says about the shopping districts, either way youll get good and bad things in any of them... ive been to most places the JR line will take ya, but if you want the GOOD shopping you need to stay away from the attractions points. this applys to all citys, not just tokyo. I found it to be the same in Seoul and Bangkok, so what are you expecting?? Isnt the the whole point to enjoy yourselfs there anyway?? Aki, shibuya, all were fun regardless of the shopping...
I've been to Shibuya 3-4 times, and its mostly cheap junk everywhere. Don't get me wrong, i think Shibuya is an ok place to take a walk or eat, but i prefer Shinjuku, Akiba & Ginza anytime. (If you receive "thumbs down" - maybe its because you have a negative attitude!)
If by negative attitude you mean stating the truth, so I've been negative. IMO Akiba is just good for shopping (or to be stabbed by a crazy Akibake haha). You've been to Shibuya 3-4 times, so you dont know this place that well.
I guess you regard your own private opinion as "the truth" - fair enough. You are right about one thing though: Akiba is good for shopping - and by "good" i mean "very good" - and by "very good", i mean MUCH better than Shibuya - unless you're shopping for girls clothes in size X-Small!!!!????
LoL, who said that Shibuya is interesting for shopping?
+ as I said you must dont know that much places in Shibuya since there is nice shop there. For example, the new era cap shop, the big HMV music store + many others, but the interest of Shibuya is not in the shopping, its on the nightlife by its night clubs and other entertaining place (even tho I know better places to party in both Tokyo and other japanese towns).
I have only been to Shibuya in the daytime, so i don't know about nightlife and clubbing. I just noticed the shops did'nt look interesting at all. (I saw the HMV though, i just feel its like any other HMV in the world - except for the huge amounts of J-pop!)
HMV's doesnt exist in my country so for me its not like any other HMV. Apart from the theres a lot of "hidden" places in Shibuya which are interesting.

I went to that same shop! Bought a few Evangelion characters from there. The X-Rated characters in the back were interesting too.

I aggree, Mister Donut rules - but so do Akiba. Geeks and Otakus is a part of the experience:-)
Shibuya though, is for minors only - THAT sucks!!!

So you dont know really well Shibuya coz many people have more than 20 there.
And for the people who provide me thumbs down.
Go get a life, or at least learn that even for japanese otaku's suxx since they are considered as (and they really are) losers.
