  • Maybe the last bullet went to the other hand. Remember. Only Bond's face was seen when the bullet hit him.

  • Oh no, he didn't miss.

The hit at was as *just* out of shot. You can almost see the pain on the "Dummy"'s face.

  • How about this mystery? Hope it hasn't been brought up already. Scaramanga has indeed just killed a mob hit-man. And the opponent in question used a pistol with a silencer affixed but when fired it didn't sound silenced in any way. Is it time for another video dangale?

  • It is Roger darling, I recon Roger is wearing a suit with an extra long sleeve so he can hold a dummy hand.

  • The last shot went through the where Bond's heart would be.

  • Last one was in the balls, you can see it in Moore's face!!!! HAHAHA!!!!!

  • Only problem is, for those who insist that it was.... that isn't Roger Moore. It actually WAS a dummy. (Unlike Al Capone, who friggin' blinks!)

  • Are you sure? I'm not sure it was. I think it's just Moore with pale face make up. I've never seen any photos of Moore posing next to such a dummy (surely an obvious photo opportunity), plus it does look EXACTLY like him, most waxwork dummies rarely look that realistic. Who knows, one of us is right... :)

  • @dangale It is Moore. Who or what ever it is depicting him is swaying side to side a bit if you watch his outline compared to the lines behind him.

  • @NyeTunes I agree with dangale, this definitely IS Moore, no dummy ever looks exactly like the actor it is meant to replace, even nowadays, and especially in 1974 !! Another thing, you can see him swaying when the camera zooms in, no actor can stand perfectly still (Now someone will probably come back and say they made the dummy move deliberately to make it look real, ugh !)

  • Also, doesn't Scaramanga's golden gun only hold one bullet?

  • It does, yeah, but this wasn't his Golden gun, this was the hood he's just killed's gun. Nick Nack hands it to him seconds earlier.

  • @dangale I thought that might be the case. Thanks for confirming.

  • it would have been more effective if he got the dummy on the head

  • Being a professional editor myself, I would have to say this is nothing but an audio effect to help transition into the credit sequence. Please note this is the first time since Goldfinger that there is no visual transition such as a matted wipe into the sequence, the sound editor used this effect to help ease the jump.

  • You can see moore flinch a little at 23-25.

  • Probably just for effect given it directly proceeds the titles. But if it was a real shot by Scaramanga, I'd say it was to the heart.

  • @alphateam7911 Scaramanga's more cruel than that - let's just say there's a reason they only showed the dummy from the waist-up ; )

  • wait wait, new question, i heard someone say that the dummy was really Roger Moore, is that true?????????

  • I agree last bullet went to the balls hahaha lol

  • I always assumed from the pan that the last shot went in the balls.

I know TMWTGG was like a shot in the sack anyway

  • Yeah I was laughing so hard when I saw that scene. Moore fires the gun in the tube and Stomderg go ehhh!!! He got hit in his balls 2 times!! LOL

  • last bullet sounds like more a ricochet ringing then an individual shot to me.

  • lolz i've just realised where tht place is! in goldeneye:rogue agent (gamecube game) there is a house of fun map with bond at the end of a pit with spikes in (the golden gun is on a podium where scaramanga stood) and above the pit when player 2 is in the pit press the button and the spikes come up an kill them...

  • I thought that the golden gun holds only one bullet, yet he is firing several

  • Nick Nack swaps guns for him if you watch closely, giving him a 'harmless toy' revolver instead, giving him 6 shots.

  • Actually, I just watched the movie:

The gangster hired by Nick Nack to duel Scaramanga was using a Colt M1911 with a suppressor (though it sounds normal). As you can see, Nick Nack picks up this gun from the man's dead body, and THAT is what he gives to scaramanga. The M1911 has a 6 shot magazine, tho.

  • Well, he was firing at the fingers, perhaps he proceeded with the toes?

  • Or, as Kananga suggested in LIVE AND LET DIE, perhaps he proceeded "to more vital areas." That would bring tears to your eyes.

  • Yes. Somewhat more vital are the leg muscles. Those aren't visible at the moment you hear the last shot, so it is possible he hits them. After all, if he would be firing at a living person and would first hit four fingers and then a leg, the person would fall on the ground groaning with pain. And then the hart is a very easy target.

  • the idea i think is just to have a wax arm with the tuxedo sleeve on it, shoot the fingers off and then have a shot of the real Roger just looking like an idiot into scarrymengy's eyes

  • Maybe he shot in the air or something.

  • I thought it was a symbolic gunshot that leads into the song. :P

  • Also that won't be a dummy. Why put go to the expense of making a wax dummy for a short shot, when you can get Roger Moore to do it with a bit of pastelly / shiny make-up. This is also makes the accurate expression.

  • Good point about his groin. I never had any doubt this wasn't Roger Moore playing his own waxwork dummy. What a performance! :)

  • There was a lot of this sort of humour esp in the Roger Moore films. The last one is to the crotch is my guess, look at the look on the dummy's face! He looks like one might if one was kicked or had their chucks grabbed.

  • He didn't miss - the final shot went straight into Bond's waxwork winkie.

  • I reckon he missed because he was distracted by the 'waxwork model' swaying wildly one way then back again just as he takes his shot, lol. Lovin' your work by the way - keep it up!

  • the reason there is a last gun shot that misses is becuz bond is his next target, its supposed to be ironic becuze Bond kills Scaramagna

  • Where did you get the gunshot-sound you used for scaramangas gun? It's awesome!

  • I didn't, it's all from the movie. This clip was taken from the 'remixed for 5.1 surround editions', the latest 2007 DVDs so it does sound quite new and out of place, suddenly very clear and stereo-y; they stand out quite a lot from the original soundmix.

  • It's odd isn't it? Why zoom into his face? I assumed it should have ended with a bullet between his eyes but it doesn't happen.

  • I s'pose they wanted to show the realism of the model. Perhaps ignoring the fact it wasn't hard to figure out it WAS actually him and not a model at all, passed them by.

Maybe the gun shot as it zooms adds the effect they wanted, but they didn't zoom fast enough past the hand. It's all just guess work. A more important question is, why am I spending Sunday evening trying to figure it out!

    Love the videos mate.

  • Ah, yes. The biggest mystery of them all is why would anyone bother pointing these silly things out?! :o)

  • Well don't stop 'cos I watch 'em all the time. There's something to be said for finding all the interesting flaws in these classic films. You have a knack of finding them. I'd imagine you have the YouTube Bond niche well and truly covered.

  • Thank you. It is nice to here creative discussion and positive comments, even when I type BOND on the youtube search, looking for something similar, only to see *yet another* gunbarrel compilation...

So long as everyone realises I'm not pointing out continuity mistakes or errors. I don't care about them. I'm looking deeper.... just wait for #20. It's a cracker.

  • The last bullet was for the thumb.

  • Yeah but the thumb didn't get blown off did it.

  • no lol. I was wrong.
