Yes, I'm sure from this video it might not seem it, but that's because it's one song out of a 2 disc concept album. Each CD tells the story of a sister up to the end where they find redemption in Christ. The CD booklets contain the story to be read while listening to the music as something of a soundtrack.

I think it helps to understand the band a little bit more. I think this song comes from the perspective of a lost person who is trying to build their own life and doesn't need God, and they're really miserable and bitter. See "nihilism". I have a feeling that Josh has a thing with nihilism, since one of their albums is called, "No sir, nihilism is not practical".

I am almost 100% certain that it is not coming from the perspective of the band.

I completely agree with what the last two said, also, the cd's Anorexia and Nervosa are spiritual journeys. At first, I to, could not believe the lyrics and what I was reading in the story which come along with the book. I was shocked it was comming out of such a Christian band. But when the journey is through, and the character Nervosa reaches her destination, you are left so in aw of God and the Gospel, that it brings everyone i know who's read it to tears. I seriously recommend the cd :)
