Well, I'll be damned. I came into this video expecting a burnt out train wreck of a voice. This song is FAR from easy to sing. But, Jon got through it and got through it with fuckin' gusto. In 2011 nonetheless. YOU RULE, JON.

JBj is just whiney, but his pitches are good. And BJ DID cross over to country shit. I like country, but there's a difference between good country and the crap bands like Bon Jovi do when they're too tired to play good rock n roll anymore, so they decide acoustic guitars will do the trick and just sound crappy. I think of Jon as Vince Neil if he knew all the lyrics to his band's songs. They've sold out.

I feel strongly that I have to say Jon has a great voice live. I believe it's actually improved since his younger, screaming days. My husband and I went to the Toronto concert in February and he remarked that Jon has a very good voice. Many older singers have ruined their voices by screaming in the past. And many newer singers (witness American Idol) think screaming is a substitute for good screaming. Altho' I admit Steven Tyler still seems to be able to scream at 62, but not sing as well.

Some bands still have it [KISS, Whitesnake, Danger Danger, Stryper, Winger (to name a few)], and some bands don't [Bon Jovi, Motley Crue, Poison, Slayer (to name a few)] from the 70s/80s. I am a fan of all of this music, but it hurts me to see bands that should retire go on.

Best version of this song ever. What a voice! What a singer! What a man! Jon is obviously going above and beyond because he', more than anyone, is acutely aware that something is missiing from the band...although Phil X is doing an outstanding job! I'm Canadian and had never heard of him untii now. But it really isn't the same without the "brother" love between Jon and Richie. I've seen them twice and there really is a close rapport between the two stars. But Jon kills here!

Thanks for posting this video. It's so hard to watch; there's so much pain in it for Jonneee butt it's a performance that all Bon Jovi fans should see. Jonneee sings with so much honest emotion. You can see the pain in his face and hear it in his voice right from the start and barely a minute into the video at 0:58 Jonneee changes the last word of the line .... just one word butt we all know why and who he's singing this song for. I really hope Richie gets to see this performance.

Great video! They know each other for over 25 years. They got married, divorced, had kids, had fun together, cryed, smiled, jumped huged, forgot some lyrics during the shows but Bon Jovi are a family. One of them, Richie, needed a breck to heal his body but above that, his soul! It's hard for them all, but health comes first! Clearly, Jon misses Richie beside him (though Phil is doing a great job). Portugal waits for you!
