One of my all-time favorite songs! All 3 of the frontmen for 3 dog night were good singers, but I believe Chuck was especially talented. He still sounds great. Love the harmonies. Very glad he cleaned up his life.
This is a song that I pull out when I'm stressed out and I've been pulling it out for about 40 years. I have been known to play it all day. This son epitomizes the peace and love message that the 60's and early 70's were all about. I did get to see at least one incarnation of 3 Dog Night at the Operyland Theater in the 80's. Loved them!!
glad to see Chuck's step son Berry performing w/ him that's great, it had to be hard on him losing his Dad at such a young age, never having that bond i'm glad Chuck was able to forge a relationshipw/ him that stands today so well, even though he is no longer married to Berry's mom..
Chuck still has a great voice! Much better than Danny or Cory (sorry guys, I know it's been a long time). I noticed footage of Saddle Peak at 1:30 marker in this video. It's located near Westlake Village CA where I used to live. Lots of music people live in the area. I wondered whatever happened to the rest of the band and how many originals are still around.
@joeyinempirestate yeah this could be like the Doobies "another park , another Sunday" i think thats the title or something like that, but yeah the two songs are kinda similar, btw the Doobies are knockin em dead on the road they sound great..
@LiveCrueltyFreeNow the way i look at it, Cory is a Jerk and he never treated Chuck w/ respect and friendship, just look at some of their classic live performances and you will note that Cory acted on stage like Chuck had B.O. or wasn't even there..he was always smiling and paling around w/ Danny, but never Chuck, its his loss cause Chuck owns them both vocally and looks better than either one of them, no wonder he sang the majority of the biggest hits..
@MOSKII58 Three Dog Night - on Playboy After Dark, part 1. He wasn't ignoring him in this video. Maybe it was before the hard feelings set in.This was early in TDN's career
@MOSKII58 - you're wrong ! Chuck (as much as I like him too) had admitted that he wasn't in his best behavour when they were together because Chuck was heavily on drugs ! He did admitted that it was him who was impossible & messed up ( when he came clean years later....)
@bookcartpeddlerny He wrote a book 3 dog nightmare he was on something for 20 years and wasnt showing up and the group threw him out he lost the rights to the name and his penis exploded .
Chuck is still supurb! I saw Three Dog Night at a Soundstage performance back in the early 70's and he's is just as good now as he was then. Thank God he's still on track. Love that voice!
I saw Chuck Negron at a rock festival in North Dakota a few years back (like 10+), and he was so modest and appreciative of his fans and his life - even in a small venue in the middle of nowhere - the best performance I have ever seen anywhere.
Chuck had major drug problems for years and the band eventually moved on. I think the remaining members felt they had moved on and chose not to re-visit, most of the band stayed intact. Still for guys that grew up with a heavy dose of the band, would have enjoyed seeing all three. To late in the game now.
Not hardly Gittah, Danny and Cory have most of the original band and two of the three voices while Chuck is blending in with a few young guys (son included) that can passably mock the group harmony. ANd whoever said they should have slowed it down... amen!
@TheBassfresh you are mistaken that is NOT "CHUCKY" his son... that is the late Berry Oakley's son Berry Jr. Berry (if you don't know this) was the legendary bass player for the Allman Bros band, a founding member who died in a motorcyle accident a yr after they lost Duane Allman in the same area to the same tragic motorcycle spill.
@TheBassfresh.. that is Berry Oakley jr. who is kinda like a step-son to Chuck, no blood relation..Chuck's former wife was married to Berry Oakley before she married Chuck, so Chuck became his step-dad, but Chuck has a full blooded son "Chucky" who is also a recovering addict and they now have a good relationship. Berry Oakly was one of the founding members of the Allman bros band until his tragic death almost 1 yr to the date they lost Brother Duane Allman in the same way-a motorcycle accident

@floydturbo2 It was Paul Williams who wrote the song Out in the Country. He is an incredible song writer that wrote many hits.

nice job Chuck..wish all three Night put aside gripes but they keep on carrying on and sound better than most of their piers like CSN.
carolerory 2 years ago
Why did they part? Anyone know what the gripes are or the story behind it? Corey and Danny seem less arrogant than guy. But they all do sound great.
