Very interesting interview it shows the intelligence of the man !
I'm fed up seeing always the same questions : vegeterian sexuality racism etc .... BUT HERE the questions are super interesting and it's so good to see his opinion about T-Rex 'cause I really love them too :)
Speaking of pilgrimages.. after seeing the "Suedehead" video my ex and I drove out to Indiana to see James Dean's grave. We looked for everything that was in the video.. sat in the same seat where Morrissey sat in a diner.. saw the dog he held, the tractor.. all the road signs, pretty much everything.
We saw his signature in the registry of some place and talked to some workers who reminisced about the filming.
We were struck by the handwritten notes and items that were left by James' grave, including a copy of "The Little Prince."
A year later we saw him perform here in Cleveland. His band started playing and there was no sign of him for quite some time..
All of a sudden I felt a surge of energy shoot through my body.. a tingling awareness. After a couple of seconds I shook it off and realized that it coincided with Morrissey's entrance.
He spoke four words the whole night.. "it's hot here so.."
Inga - thanks for this lovely response. It's warmed me cockles on a frosty Northern morning. Will try and add another clip of Semisorry before Xmas. Cheers! Len
But it warmed me here...also this good book-worth while to buy and to read. On dark, cold german evenings...whiel also so much terrible stuff is coming out off radios...but this here-and your book-are a light, indeed.
No, he was specifically talking about 'Cosmic Dancer' and the line "I danced myself into the tomb". Have searched high and low but can't find an early rockabilly track that uses similar words. Bet that old Polecat Boz Boorer would know. Cheers, Len
Glad you love it. In terms of the quality, it was shot on a very early DV camera; I'd only used Hi 8 or film cameras before then. But no idea why the quality is not as good as the earlier clip (same tape!). Maybe I just fiddled with something while I was shooting this section of the interview? Will try and post more soon. Best wishes, Len
Oh say hello to Morrissey if you see him from from Robert Stanley ,he kindly used me for his hair cuts and credited me on suedehead and viva hate back oin the day .Istill have these records and have been 20 years a strict vegetarian tell him ,with part thanks to the awareness brought about Morrissey.Steve.Send him my kindest regards please Len.

Marc Bolan seems to have really touched Morrissey. I wonder what all the smirking is about??????

I LOVE this!!! Thank you so much, Len...!
One question: why is the video quality so much less than the first clip? It seems more pixellated.
LOVE YOU for putting these up, bro!!! :)
