This made me squee in a most unseemly manner! Five's always been MY Doctor, and the genuine enthusiasm David puts into this suggests he's HIS Doctor as well.

humour this simple Canadian..what exactly is the main 'theme' of Doctor Who and WHO is this Doctor? Please..I'm not playing a prank, but I've started watching occasional episodes and find myself really liking it!

I can't say that this simple American (who was raised on Doctor Who, but got away from it, and is finding her way back) knows that there really is a main 'theme' to the show. The Doctor is a time travelling alien of a race called Time Lords. He travels through time and space, saving the universe. Simple, eh?
