  • Ahh, if only Carlos had loved (and recorded) Mahler's 6th.

Or Furtwangler for that matter. One can dream though. :-)

  • Carlos thought Mahler was messy ! Thats apparently why he didnt conduct it much.

  • ...thanks a lot !!! Mahler is the sadest composer ever !!! check wunderlich !!! LES

  • Can you tell me please who is the wonderful female singer here? Would it by any chance be Christa Ludwig? Thanks.

  • @leerylou, yes it says so in the description above.

  • Mahler's most sublime opus realized by one of the most ear-opening realizers of symphonic music ever, wow! 我愛李太白

  • Thanks a lot . I didn't know Kleiber conducting Mahler .But I was always looking for such a recording , because I think Kleiber and Mahler ,as conductors ,have some affinities.

Both , too , have been in a way wayfarers .

Both had an outstanding personnality .

Are there others Mahler's recording by Kleiber ?

  • @jeanpi314159

Thank you, unfortunately this is the only Mahler recorded by CK.

  • @volodya2

Thanks ! but a pity this is the only one !

I wonder why it's so easy to find some recording of viennese music like waltzes directed by Carlos Kleiber , but so few recording of symphonies .

So it becomes astonishing to get das Lied von der Erde , one of the most fascinating compositions ever written .

  • You kick ass man
