  • Hi ! I've just watched Maria Bethania playing, and now Eliane Elias ; I must say that I don't know which of them two I prefer. In fact, I love both. Coll video to be awake in the morning. BYE !

  • ellianne i love u....for ever ....

  • Good however I kept waiting to hear more of the guitar

  • Nice piano/drums interplay at the end.

  • Just saw Eliane at Dimitriou's Jazz Alley in Seattle... most excellent!

  • Astoundingly beautiful rendition you are amazing Eliane!

  • Es uno de los temas más bonitos en la historia del jazz y Eliane lo ensalza todavía más con su magistral forma de interpretar, tanto al piano como con su particular y maravillosa voz.

    Me encanta!!

Verla en directo es deleitarse con los sentidos..........

    Un saludo,

    Elsa

  • Was für eine Musik, was für eine Frau!

  • Aside from the music, all you need to do is look in the eyes of each performer. You can see that Dianna Krall is egotistical and bitchy Compare them to the soulful deep eyes of Eliane Elias. You can see the music is in EE's soul, whereas DK is just trying to look like a generic shallow barbie "hot blond". They're miles apart in talent and soul.

  • Arguing whether DK of EE is better is silly. I prefer EE, but, come onguys. Give it up. They are both WONDERFUL!

And to the guy who thought EE was lost. Much more silliness. EE doesn't get lost - in the not knowing where you are sense. I are sure you could wake her up from a deep sleep at 4 AM, sit her down at her piano and she would be off and rrunning - strike that - playing!

  • One of my favourite songs since I was a kid. Like DK but Eliane version of this number is much more meaningful and thoughtful.

  • Disagree ...Diana is much better. Smarter music, smarter improvisation, better feel for jaz and tune while singing. I mean come on just take any of the performance of D.K with Anthony Wilson and company. Undoubtedly better than this lady. Although Eliabe looks better :D...

  • @bassann22 you should see eliane live!.. I saw the quartet once in Barcelona at Palau de la Musica... it was amazinggg .. I've seen diana's concerts too.. and eliane has just something else..

They are both excelent performers tough..

  • @bassann22 I prefer Krall's voice to Elias's and the latter's piano playing of the two e.g. Krall's "The Look of Love" and Elias's "My Foolish Heart" are my favourites. I would not, and am not qualified (Are you or is anyone else for that matter?) ,to proclaim one as better than the other. It's mainly a question of opinion based on personal taste. Mind you I would freely concede both sing and play piano substantially "better" than I do.!

  • @golsno147

Right!...She is a great musician...but about 50 times a better jazz pianist than singer. She is a thorough composer, too. You should check out his (only) jazz interpretations to actually hear what she is capable of at the piano. She was Vinicius De Moraes' musical director and pianist while still in her teens.

  • She performed in that Grand Piano hosted by Billy Joel. She surprised me because I thought she is just an instrumentalist. Similar talent to Diana K. However I lost interest in Diana when she got married to Elvis C. when they tried to do their own music which was boring. She likes somewhat of a bumpy rhythm compared to Diana's smoother bossa.

  • @jessdmac E.E. has a higher jazz pedigree than D.K., as an instrumentalist and composer regularly performing for many years other than as a singer. She is unquestionably a great jazz pianist. and a lovely singer. D.K. has had greater commercial successafter being advised by Jimmy Rowles to concentrate her talents as a vocalist on the jazz standards she sings and plays so well. We all have preferences but to compare them on ability is pointless because they are both hugely talented..

  • and i listened to it one more time and i think she was also lost before end of the solo so she just rushed there something when she figured out she is totaly somewhere else to the others :D....nono no she can not fool me!

  • to be honest i expected more, after she finished solo (late) first few beats she was totaly out of rhytm and tune. And the whole thing was just like played with no sould, flat....i remembver music like that when drunk people play on jamsession...disappointed...

  • Undoubtedly good, ? Man, you are totally missing the whole picture. Eliane besides being one of the world's most gifted Jazz musicians and musical messengers is by no means selfish. You cannot make that type of judgement just by one performance. Maybe the guitar player did not want to improvise on this tune that particular day. There are several possible reasons, but no one that produces such beautiful music can be selfish. Yes, you thought, you thought WRONG.

  • She's undoubtedly good, but I kept waiting for her to give the guitarist even a brief solo...but instead she kept it all to herself , rather selfishly I thought.

  • Both ladies diserve the heaven

    ambas merecen el cielo

  • Yowzers! Not only is this lady lovely to look at but she's a gifted performer. Never heard of her until I came here to youtube. THANK YOU for posting this territic version of one of my favorite romantic ballads! :-)

  • i feel like i've tricked into excepting a cheap substitute. I will never listen to Ms. Krall the same way again.

  • Bravo!

  • She has such a beautiful sense of ritmo and melody. And she beautiful.

  • nice ! です.

  • she's amazing. I love to watch her play.

  • Brazil's answer to Diana Krall -- only she plays a lot more piano than Krall does -- brilliant..! Great voice, too.

  • ....and she plays MUCH better piano than Diana...;-) but she doesn't sing as well as her, I think!

  • @johnbresnik You mean Canadiananswer to Eliane Elias? She's been around since she was 17, already playing with great masters of brazilian bossa, like Toquinho and Vinicius de Moraes!

  • She has such jazz chops. Wow. If she is playing with bare feet I love it even more.

  • eres una diva

  • I have listened to her for quite a while, i wanted to see her performing. Eliane is wonderful. Mature, Sophisticated a real performer. Obrigado! pra isso.

  • she's great! but it's too bad you can't hear the rest of the band. poorly recorded.

  • love, love; Eliane Elias!!!

  • Found this great singer recently. Audio in the video sounds just like what I heard from CD - the wonderfully smooth tone (piano and vocal) seems easily reproduced in live performance. Amazing solo.

  • Wonderful, Excellent! *****

  • Maravilha!!

  • Great! Love the solo!

  • Is this available on DVD?

  • 5 STARS!!!! looking for this video like ages!!!!

  • Thanks for posting, this is great. We do this one in our little band but as a swing number. I love her re harmonisation. Jill

  • I love how Eliane can take any standard like "Can't take that away from me" and turn it into a classic bossanova number. Not easy. But Elaine makes it look easy. She's my favorite artist now and possibly forever. See you in NYC Feb. 2010 at Carnegie Hall. Abracao! Obrigado! Thcao! Jonnybossa:)

  • This is my favorite version of this song - thanks for posting!

  • me too now!! Found it through your lessons, muchas gracias!

  • de nada. :-)
