(actually pronounced Rah-Beet) However, we already had four cats and could not keep him or the other 5 cats we house-sat. We found all of them homes including the loving white blind kitty, Rabbit. When I figure out how to edit my videos, (like what program will use my camera's videos) I will post some videos of my three legged kitty.

One of my rescue cats is blind and deaf on one side due to human abuse. It took me a year to even get to touch him. He is a great hunter and regularly brings me mice and other tidbits. I'm subscribing to Oskar and Klaus. Thanks.

I had a kat that was born with just one eye, kept him, didn't wan't to give him away to someone who might not care enough to give him proper care. He surprised me by becoming a very talented hunter! His just having one eye had no impact on his ability to aim for his prey animals or anything. And the only special care he needed was that we removed some yellow "snot" from the eye that wasn't there, but that was it and it wasn't needed to do very often either. I loved him, called him "Snotty": )

@DannyBruiz What an interesting question. I mean, he must still have dreams. Are those dreams based on only senses he has experienced? Or do his dreams have imagery? And if they do, of what? I would assume based on instincts he knows something isn't right.

Whether or not congenitally blind people dream in images has been studied, but the findings have been mixed – some studies conclude that congenitally blind people do not dream visual images, while other reports conclude that they do.  I guess we are so reliant on visual information that it's impossible to imagine living any other way.

Just because he can't see, does not mean he has no memory of his daily experiences...pleasant or bad...for now, I'm sure he sleeps fine because of all the pleasant experiences his owners, and partner are sharing with him.

@Cochlea777 I think Klaus knows.  Cats (like most mammal predators) use facial expressions to communicate with one another. Even though Klaus and Oskar play all the time, I don't see Klaus hiding and pouncing on him too much. Oskar, on the other hand, does wait in ambush (wiggling his butt with his head low to the ground), but it's generally in the wide open (hey, he's blind and probably doesn't understand the concept). Klaus is a good sport and let's Oskar surprise him with an attack!

they are so sweet! oskar reminds me of my little guy (now huge) magnus when he was a kitten. he has a big sister (now little big sister) and they love to groom each other. so glad he's got a loving home!

@25Celtics We kept Oskar isolated for the first few days. Klaus was angry and heartbroken that a new cat was in the house. He growled with this low, gutteral, rumble and shredded his toys in disgust. He hissed at the door to Oskar's room. He mellowed out after we fed them from bowls on the opposite side of the partition door. After that we supervised the play to make sure Oskar wasn't hurt, but by that time Klaus just accepted the little guy and started grooming him. He's really a big softy!

@IFuckLikeABeast111 I put him on the scale yesterday and he is 13.3 pounds. He is also pretty long and bulky. The vets are fine with that weight and I think Klaus is happy too (he almost died of starvation years ago). His issue is the loose belly skin and the longer fur there. It makes him look like he swallowed a grapefruit or something. We do keep an eye on him, however, so he doesn't sneak food from Oskar.
