  • The TEC is spitting in the face of God's Word by consecrating Gay Bishops.

Time for all true believers in this "Church" to come home to Rome.

  • Thank you for making this video. Brought tears to my eyes! This is why I belong to TEC and keep coming back- one word: HOPE!

  • I like this video, as well as "Around One Table". I'm not Episcopalian, but have been considering visiting an Episcopal church. I have trouble with the idea of Biblical literalism, am resistant to the concepts of the incarnation and sacrificial absolution. I see about as much that's threatening in the BIble as what is hopeful. Yet - I cannot be unaffected by Christian ideals of love and compassion. The emerging identity of the Episcopal church seems like a place that I may feel welcome.

  • I enjoyed this video. Some people question where is faith. Well, I prefer to see faith in action through social programs. Helping is how you honor God.

  • boring

  • I am still amazed and saddened by the tone of the conversation between people on the subject of faith and justice issues. God calls us to love God and our neighbor. We love God BY loving our neighbor--be he or she a financial planner, a truck driver, a schoolteacher, or even a child. The Church isn't a building, it is a body of faithful people. We aren't called to like each other, we are called to love each other. I know it's difficult, but let's keep trying.

  • The video has nothing to do with the report, The report itself is a series of vague generalities that is useless and meaningless; the kind of thing corporations hire consultants to produce, then throw in a drawer. It's laughable.

  • Incidentally, how big a cup are we talking about? D or double D?

  • Tried to access the report and had to go through this puff piece video first. When I got to a summary of the report, well...I didn't believe it. I know of people who asked to be interviewed and were not. This seems like more propaganda and more painting a smiley face on everything as the Titanic sinks. I used to go to Episcopal Churches - for over 20 years - and what I have to endure drives me away. Wake up TE- put the Church in hospice over or pull out the defibrillator. Is 815 listening?

  • There's only so many people they could survey, and there would be selection bias if they allowed people to ask to be included.

What specifically did you find to be like propaganda?

It's mainly a description of themes that come to mind when people think of the Episcopal Church, and its intent is to describe what unifies the church and to a degree what makes the EC unlike other churches. If these survey results have somehow been manipulated into propaganda, I'd like to see specific examples.

  • TEC, like the Wicked Witch in The Wiz, adopts a "Don't bring me no bad news" policy. Filtering the truth is propaganda. TEC has an agenda. State of the Church report was revised to the point of a whitewash before it was allowed to be published. When one knows 1st hand what happens in a diocese, then reads Ep. Life's spin on it, there is a disconnect. When the bad news is reported as equally as the good, we might begin to trust these publications.

  • While I had trouble figuring out the message of the video, I'd highly recommend the report, which you can find at the link in the description box. This "Around One Table" report has surveys completed by many people, and the first core theme is that Christ is central.

Do read the report, it's well worth the time!

  • Milquetoast pap, at least now openly admitting that they are not Christ's Church but a health, wellness, and prosperity lobbyist and advocacy group.

  • I'm thrilled to see the Episcopal Church work on identity, and I'm enjoying reading the "Around One Table" report. There's great information there, and I encourage other Episcopalians to read it.

Unfortunately, this video has left me confused. What was the intended audience? What do the statistics at the beginning have to do with TEC's identity? What core message were you trying to get across? It seemed a collage of unrelated snippets with nothing to make it all a coherent whole.

  • I have to that as a life-long progressive Episcopalian that I was duly unimpressed by this video. It really failed to make any cogent point in a meaningful way. It is unfortunate as it was an opportunity to communicate very strong, positive message. I hope that some 815 is monitoring these comments.

  • Frankly, this is depressing. For people who claim to be Christ-centered, why is His Name only mentioned in passing during the video? No wonder our church continues to lose members. Please, take down this video ASAP. Again, it's depressing.

  • I totally agree. If I were an Episcopalian I would be absolutely ashamed at how overwhelming the focus was on social justice issues to an almost total exclusion of faith issues.

  • Oh...I just got the cup reference! It presupposes that being diverse is controversial. Am I correct? But being diverse isn't controversial, and if TEC wanted to paint a truly accurate portrait of itself, it would examine diversity locally, regionally, etc. It would look at how many are leaving the church as well as those who remain. The media control in TEC is as bad as Fox news.

  • Who would Jesus spin?

  • That was very moving!

  • Bravo! Bravo!

  • Could someone explain the cup reference at the end? How big a cup? TEC is losing 19,000 members a year. Plenty of kids raise money for chickens and volunteerism is part of the national character these days. What did this video cost to produce in terms of materials, creative hours (because it certainly is creative!) post production, etc. Why is the pension fund included when it's famous for hoarding money and providing elite retreats for the members?

  • Well done!

  • Right on.
