  • Everyone know where I find this video in HD?

  • OMG salio teotihuacan!

  • The accompanying music is by the renowned Greek composer Vangelis Papathanassiou, who is also the 1981 Oscar-winning composer of the original film score "Chariots of Fire".

    Truly inspirational!!!!

  • Ἀθηνᾶ

  • Politics is one thing that tarnishes the ideals of the Olympic Games. Slinging dirt over each other and tearing each other apart like this is not what the Ancient Greeks would have wanted future generations to do.

  • Greece was under othomanic suppression for 377 years! Not "400-500" years.

From the fall of Constantinople 1453(greek and known as Istanbul today) to the greek liberation-war from 1821-1830.

But during the suppression, greek culture wasnt dead. The turks/othomans installed in greece the "Millet"-System. This System guaranteed the greeks a free use of theyre culture, language and religion.

Except for some exceptions here and there, it wasnt a bloody thing at the beginning.

  • i suggest you check one. Turks come from a mongolian tribe. it is no secret its common knowledge.

  • i know that turks come from a mongolian tribe and i also know that is a common knoledge.

So mongolian tribes where have their roots in mongolia or in africa? i think in mongolia or near mongolia thats why the are called mongolian.that is common thinking and not a secret.

  • sorry for the comment! i thought you were someone else.

  • the roots of turks are founded there near mongolia read history

  • My mistake, thought you were talking about Ancient turkey, since the OP was comparing with Ancient Greeks.

  • The Great Greece!^^

Thank You for that wonderful "Athens 2004"!

  • to h2jazz5,

for a fucker that does'nt know how to chose a right place to F*.

Piss a few less of your smart solution, reality is much hygienical that way.

  • lol

  • to h2jazz5,

    you idiot!

  • it's his opinion. it's not like he's going to kill everyone of them or harm anyone of them.

china is the hazzard of mankind (well if you're not asian, image the world without your race, with only these damn souless yellow sobs. why even fight for a better future, when your children will be insignification in number to those unhygienic, unhumane beasts and savages) culture dies with the coming of the east. you can call me a racists or any other ad hominem bullshit.

  • calling someone a racist is one of the greatest paradox of the recent age. and why is that? take a realistic peek into the future, and you'll see that lying to yourself and others is indeed a way of slowly buthering yourself and others.

  • But....but....think of the lack of cheap electronics and cheap labour you'll have!! It you imagine the world without the souless yellow sobs, noone will make all those manufactured goods and products, and the wages in other developed countries will make them so expensive if their production were to shift to there.

  • In 2020,maybe the Philippines together with Japan will host the olympics

  • Θα είσαι για πάντα στην καρδιά μου...

    Σε ευχαριστώ!

  • why all of the host city of OLYMPIC GAMES are most in First World Class of Society?

  • do you have any idea how expensive for a bid to get the olympic games/build the facilities?

that money would be better spent in other regions.

although it would be nice for other countries to fund it..

  • The Olympics began in Athens 1896, And they ended after Athens 2004.

Now the Olympics goes to china in 2008, one of the worst dictatures in the world!

Maybe the games can come back to life in London!

  • best emblem ever! really unique, maybe cuz olympic games are originary urs,

  • Evangelos Odysseas Papathanassiou....please make more...

    R.W.R

  • watching this video again and again, i really wonder: who thought of that London 2012 emblem??? Horrible!!! Did he/she get paid as well????

  • SO great..where Olympics originally came from... but so sad..VAngelis, the composer of the 2000 Sydney olympic songs and the organizer too, never had a chance to do thesame thing in his own country when the olympic games returned there... *Sniff* VAngelis so great!

  • Athens got the best Emblem ever!! London 2012= Best Games, Worst emblem!

I hope for STOCKHOLM 2016 or 2020! Maybe Östersund (my home) for winter olympics 2018! Östersund have bid for them 3 times so we would probably get them!

  • yep time for nordic olympics! 1912-2x 1952-1994-2018. No games in sweden over 95 years...

  • inspiring

  • I like it better than London 2012! dear god save us now!

  • Morricone to Italy, Vangelis to Greece, i'm Italian but i prefer the second one

  • I'm Greek and I definitely prefer Morricone! But the emblem is absolutely breathtaking, elegant and full of emotions! Well done !!!

  • greece for ever

  • Definitivamente Atenas no envejece, la misma de hace 3000 años, la perfeccion hecha ciudad, lastima que hoy el imperio Elenico ya no exista, pero la eternidad de Grecia esta asegurada hasta el fin de los tiempos.

  • Thank you for uploading this video. I like this version over what was shown in the Sydney 2000 closing ceremony. In fact, I didn't know it was this long.

  • hermoso video, hermosa melodía T_T fantastico

  • Merci pour ce spot : il était temps de rendre à la Grèce ses Jeux olympiques, qui depuis des millénaires est un message d'amour, de respect pour tous les peuples humains.Thank you Greece!Coca cola : fuck you!

  • It's sad that Vangelis never released this music. The version played during the Closing Ceremonies of the 2000 Sydney Games is longer.

  • Long live the greeks

  • long live the global humanistic greek civilization!

  • Olympic games are not american , not yankee, not african , not asian. Thanks to the world olympic games organisation to make it AT HOME
