  • @MufasaZX Yeah ive heard about locking up the hicas. also with the skylines, I have heard that you can just pull a fuse out of the fuse box to disengage the hicas.

  • wait is your driff welded or do u have an lsd in your car?

  • drifting looks so easy on games how you tap brakes and turn left.................. but after i saw some one drifting left and there wheels where turning right ............... i got confused DX< how can you drift left or right if your wheels is facing the opposite way 0.o? if you watch a lot of drifting and you know what i mean

  • @swordmage123

So really it works best when you virtually let go of the wheel (see my progression in figuring this out by Part 3). The front tires will naturally want to point IN the direction the front end is moving as the car slides sideways. Then your slip angle is determined by your right food on the gas peddle, with more power/wheel spin rotating you more and less giving less. Learning that careful modulation of the gas peddle is the PITA of it all...that and changing tires all the time.

  • so why not take you na and slap some turbos in it so it wont have the hicas and youll get a better power output.

  • @sublime763 when your drifting on a budget a hicas lock out is cheaper then trying to buy and install a turbo kit.

  • really great watching this! thx alot!

  • holy god i thought this car was a 240.... because of the steering wheel.... and yes i know this is a 300zx

  • P.s. I wouldn't even want to slide a z32 myself but there is a chick who slides one with pink wheels and she's pretty decent with it too.

  • I slide a z31 and while setting it upi had a lot of issues. That being said I've slid an s13, ae86, te71, and a rotary miata. Because of my love for z's I prefer my z31. You can drift anything but I will not I have a full s13 suspension swap as well.

  • Plus it's hard to drift 300s cause of 1. The weight and 2. The shape of the car. The short stubby front end also impacts the overall balance of the car.

  • To add onto the response below, there are hi cas deletes that you can buy for drifting. When I bought my 91 TT, the rear hi cas tie rod is replaced with a machine-cut bar of stainless steel.

  • to answer the question that was asked in this video "why people dont drift 300zxs" its a simple answer. 300zxs have hi cas. which is rear wheel steering. although it is a very small amount of rear wheel steering it interferes with a drift. I am aware of this because I own a 91 300zx twin turbo.

  • @HumanoidThe23rd

I'm sure you must know this but it's not clear in your reply, only the TTs have Hicas, the NAs like my old 2+2 don't.

  • Comment removed

  • @HumanoidThe23rd Also you can remove the hicas with a hicas lock which is a simple aftermarket part. Most Skylines have hicas too.

  • FINALLY ONE IN ENGLISH

  • the z32 is too heavy for drifting!

  • Not bad overall i believe the 3rd run was best. Nice job. Needs a little better of a car for this (coming from a tt z owner) on going outside the boundaries and knowing what and how much to push the car towards. Angles are gonna be harder with that big of a rear section. Thats why drifters shave a lot of weight off their cars. Honestly, the way I learned it was overpowering through the turn first (weight transfer too) then went to clutch-throttle-steer so you start at the hardest first

  • driftings not all about power, take the ae86, for example

  • I spy datsun z

  • 2+2 v 2 seater. I know longer wheelbase is for more stable drifting but "shorter wheelbase made it nimbler, lighter" - quote from a video about the 1985 rally, talking about how audi switched from 4 door to 2 door quattro. It would do the same but a 2 seater 300 would be an inch shorter on wheelbase than an s13, but there are more non 2+2's. Should i wait till one pops up or is 2seater good?

  • i will probably learn to do some of this on my civic (:

  • @iChinkyAznX civics dont drift they are front wheel drive cars lol

  • @famasdan can't hurt to try to make it work.

  • haha i learned to drift at golden gate fields also...except without cones and permission. thanks for posting!

  • 9:07 what is the white car on the left? is that an sc300? and is it a coupe?

  • @tooblindtofinehome1 s13 coupe

  • No no, 2+2 means it DOES have seats in the back, plus a 10" longer wheel base to accommodate.

  • What makes it a 2+2? are there no seats in the back?

  • lets play z spotto!! lol

  • On the comment in video "people dont drift these cars?"

Theres a few reasons, mainly not enough steering angle(or camber), predominantly tail happy from the start(making it want to oversteer regularly), ebrake as mentioned isnt really designed for it, plus the car wasnt really designed for it unlike 240s that have virtually no problem with it.

Takes a bit of work and modification to get the car 'drift ready'.

Course being said, I powerslide, not drift.

  • this guy doesnt seem like a very good instructor

  • Great video. Can you please tell where I can sign up for classes on drifting? I am from Oakland and been looking for classes.

  • Z32 are nearly impossible to drift. The only way i can drift mine successfully is at slow speed and on wet surfaces.

  • I did just about everything humanly possible to the motor to add power, and with an NA it's frustrating because each mod only adds a few HP.

  • @MufasaZX get a turbo 1 then.they 10 a penny.

  • @MufasaZX I think the "cure" for the power issue is to tune the car to have linear power. If you power is consistent throughout the upper RPM band, where you stay for drifting, you'll find you have enough power. Also, as mentioned in this video, you need more steering to control the angle of the drift. I hope by now you've changed up the steering to allow you to drift and not spin out. Again, I think you made enough power in this video, just need it to be consistent.

  • how did you achieve such high hp numbers? whats done to the car internally. I drive a 2+2 also and I would love to know, power is always nice :)

  • anyone know what kind or year of the infiniti j30 rear axels will fit on a 240sx rear diff? its a 5 bolt pattern.... is it a 92-94, will that work? anyone know i just need to be positive.. thanks

  • do they allow v8's out on these things? i have an 04 mach 1 with all around coil overs and my rear is stiffer then a hard on with a porn star! and i welded the lsd but ive never seen a v8 american car drifing? i just finished tuning mine for it i just hope i didnt waste my money

  • i would have tryed weight transfer first do a quuick faint move to the outside turn back in gas that sucker and co--99-9unter steer and hope for the best lol

  • @killem666all

Haha, clearly haven't drifted a car before?

You need a fair bit of power to just clutch kick to start sliding, it also consists of weight transition before the kick ,

Watch a drift event.. Then tell me they only clutch kick, I am telling you now that 99% use the handbrake, and I tell you now most of them are not hydro . They are cable. I have used the same handbrake cable through many events, yes I've stretched it, but never snapped, all you need to do is re tension it.. Plea

  • you kids will fuck up your ebrake trying to "drift", few techniques require ebrake for drifting, and if you need it for tight corners install yourself a hydro ebrake like d1 and formula drift drivers use dont snap your ebrake cable trying to "drift".

everyone who really knows its all about the clutch kick

  • HOw old do you have to be to learn how to drift?

  • @NileyLove23 old enough to have your license

  • your trying too hard , just flick her and the car do the rest

  • this would help alot if my speakers weren't broken.

  • 2:42 he sounds so afraid lol

  • thats a bullshit i dont belive them i can drift better on my truck sliverado 2006 with 6.0L engine

  • wooowwwww.......u SUCK lmao....u need to practice on FORZA....plz stop waisting our gas....no hard feelings man..

  • @1JDMhatchee lol

  • love this guys jacket rofl

  • hahaha "if you want ill drive your car"

  • @corvettedude123p ...well he let him and he seemed to do alright...

  • Infineon?

  • im buying an s2000 soon, stock, is it ok to drift or learn to drift or is it bad for my car without upgraded suspension or anything?

  • @DtoWnSux1 I don't know about s2000s that much, but having a tighter suspension will definetely improve the car's drifting capabilites; also, personally I prefer to just buy an e-brake handle that sits closer to my leg so that I can have easier acces to it they usually run around $70 but I think it's worth it.

Oh and remember; keep calm, and don't fall off the cliff.

  • not bad for a 1st time good early turn in and using the flick by accident, good job man

  • 300zx ftw'!

  • well... u doesnt look like someone who can drift... but U R GOOD :D

  • OMFG 3 MORE YRS AND ILL GET MY LICENSE!!! and ill drift my car :3

  • @Carlocap11 i have 3 years too :D 1 year till i can drive with my father :D cant wait!

  • @Carlocap11 lol hopefully it works out for you.. i said the same thing in hs and now im 23 and i never drifted. i could buy a project car and a daily but i travel a bit and it would be a hassle

  • why would you need a helmet and gloves...you're not doing anything hardcore

  • This is a really great video thanks for uploading :)

  • ae86 ftw

  • lol this should be named learn how to Bitch around.

  • this isnt the best way to learn drift! should always start with donuts and figures of 8 before moving up to higher level stuff. most importantly is that he has to understand the different techniques before starting practicing.

  • @jdsim you'll find it much easier to drift on the course once you've mastered counter-steer, throttle control and transition through donuts and figures of 8.

  • hahah that instructor! "If you want me to drive your car, you know, i can do that." He really wanted to drive the Z (;

  • This is a great video to show a newbie vs someone who knows in a z. Alll the other videos you don't actually see how the steering wheel locks and turns and what not

  • Hey that thing goes pretty darn wide for having 260-270 hp!

Try modifying your front wheel houses and steering for more front wheel steering radius, in my opinion thats all you need for now.

    Nice vid!

  • wow how good was tht guys improvement on the lst run :)

  • Z32 and supra MKIII is for drift really bad car

  • thats powersideing dumbass u suck learn to drive u stupid ass

  • @zack2168 shut up u lil nuthead, his third run has a lot of clipping points, which involves feint drifting dumbass. By the way that's some nice progress throughout this part alone

  • This looks very complicated to do. I hope to go to this sometime, looks extremely fun

  • @IVIrIVIajic11

It's very complicated, my friend has a 03 350z and he let me try to drift it once, I gave it too much throttle and hit the corner too sharp and spun out like the first guy did on his second run. We were using cones in an open lot so there wasn't any damage. After that he wasn't confident in my driving. It's still a shit ton of fun to learn though

  • Looks like you just need to upgrade your wheel base and you be fine :p

  • no e brake?

  • If the car is properly set up and balanced, and abrupt turn-in is all you need to get the car rotating. e-brake might be nice for very tight 1st gear turns, or as a more advanced technique to control rear wheel speed while in the middle of a drift, but for basic stuff it's really not necessary.

  • @AnhYeuEm1992 to initiate a drift,e-brake is NOT necessary. In fact weight transfer or giving a quick kick to the brakes right before the corner are smoother and don't affect your "momentum" as much as the e-brake.

Of course i'm talking about street cars and amateur drivers(such as my car and I)

  • This car is a pig!! why drift it??

  • "and ammmmmmmm go wide and ammmmmmmm yea mmmmmmmmmm" lol great video !!!

  • what's the best affordable car for learning to drift in? 180sx?

  • @teambrucewillis anythin rwd

  • @teambrucewillis S13 or s14 id go s14

  • lol, just go learn at a open area.

  • i have to make sure i have enough cash saved up, drifting could get expensive lol

  • poor teacher

  • you didnt have an lsd during this did you?

  • All Z32s have a viscus LSD.

  • @MufasaZX i thought only the tt did. or maybe only the turbo z31 had lsd.. idk! haha

  • nice

  • Hey, im just wondering how much i would pay for a 2nd hand twin turbo 300zx my auntie owns one and wants to get rid of its an nissan 50th enaversy car so yeah if you can replay or pm me it will be pretty cool to get your opinion
