This is the troggs, its just a remake of their original song. It's one of my favorite songs of all time. I never get tired of it. My step-dad, who has now passed on, used to tease me about liking the troggs so much but its like I don't grow tired of their songs as much as other bands. I don't really no why.
"Love Is All Around" is a song composed by Reg Presley and performed by The Troggs. Purportedly inspired by a television transmission of the Joy Strings Salvation Army band, the song was first released as a single in the UK in October 1967, peaking at No. 5 on the UK Singles Chart in late November 1967 and No. 7 on the Hot 100 chart in the US on 18 May 1968. This version features a string quartet and a 'tick tock' sound on percussion.
Like a time machine, this song takes me back to Albuquerque, and falling madly in love with this truly amazing, and very hot, army guy. What was amazing, he kind of liked me, too..oh those were definitely the days..
A truly great band from the 60's that are still performing. From the days talent was natural and not manufactured by some greedy little X factor promoter and a bunch of studio gimmicks.
Absolutely and there is a glimmer of recognition of this by younger people. I am impressed by the number of comments from teens and preteens that this is talent, artistry, not what is being shilled today.
@spacepatrolman You may be right. This sounds slightly different than the song played on the radio. While this is an excellent version, I prefer the one played on the radio
@joesphx19 Yeah. I am seeing that too. It's great news. If ever the time to start a backlash against the Simon Cowel's of this world was right, that time is now.
I like this better than the wet wet wet version. This one is more playful and light hearted. much better suited to the lyrics than an overlyromantic (lonesome) type. Not all romantic songs have to be overly feely -willy singing in the basement types.
Why do kids always put their age when they say that they like a tune on youtube? Who cares how old everyone is. As if old music needs a ten yr old to like it in order for it to be a good song.

Hey guys this is a great song, i was wondering if you guys could go to my page and listen to my new songs and tell me what you think! thanks Everyone its a new band named Communication Eruption!
This is a re-recording. The original recording is available on other posts here on YouTube. Check out the couple that are 3:00 long. This isn't bad, but it's no match for the original. I'm not bashing, just informing...
@LImiJA13 you're right there... this music, its lyrics, its whole ethos.... it is all so distinctive - even to those born decades later - because it is original, fed by the early, fresh, wide-eyed era of youth's phenomenal break free from mental chains. Much ( though not all ) music since then has become spirally derivative, or even plain mutual mimicry, gutted of all soul
the troggs were so underrated - i was born in 1960 but listened to the radio all the time - this was always one of my favorites - sometimes i wish i was just a kid again - but this song helps :)
Played this song, this version, several times this week for my sons wedding. I used to dance to this song in the 60s. We would grab our favorite girl to dance to this song or Hey Jude
Dave here. Strange. At 72, you'd think I'd prefer a more mature type of music, classical, or some such, but, for me, there's something almost hypnotic about this song. It feels as though I could listen to it all day, or night, long and never tire of it. Might just try it. I put on "playlist, autoplay" and I play my computer audio thru an FM transmitter. Will turn on my bedside radio w/Love All Around Me & see how I sleep, or not.
@theSaintAudrey wtf kind of a stupid mindless garbage of a statement is that? these guys wrote the song so how can a cover be more poetic than the original? you're just used to new pop songs and probably listen to faggotly boy bands... fuck you and fuck you're taste go be stupid somewhere else
Tchao
Those boys often dragged out their "t's" so that they sounded like they were followed by "s." "I feel it in my tsoes." " - and I gave mine tso you." I heard this again in a 1-hr. video, Christpher Hitchens discussing his book, "God is Not Great." One of his questioners, a fellow Brit, dragged out his "t's:" "-tss." That video's here, on YouTube.
Dave here. @MrRonnieG: This 72-yr.-old kid at heart only recently heard this version of "Love is All Around" & liked it a lot, but without the baggage you're carrying. Having loved & lost more than once, I can "feel your pain." Though 42 years IS a long time to carry a torch, not all of the fish in the ocean are named Wanda, or in your case, Kathy, and that can make a difference. Let the flame burn out & light another match if you can. Goodbye & good luck.
What a great post. Sounds like Kathy didn't deserve such a gentle man as you. I too have a old love I think of at times, but it's just memories now. I don't know you but would like to say WelcomeHome from Vietnam, and thank you.
To those who must always comment on which band's version is better, that's your OPINION and really, that mentality is TOTALLY tiresome.
Whichever band you favor -- or version you first heard -- that's likely to be your favorite. That's true for most people.
Something to consider, if you have any abilities of discernment--the original performer of pretty much ANY song will have nuances, soul and heart that usually are lacking in other covers. Just the way it is.
Good morning, do you like sixties? Listen and pod cast my program " great sound of 60' s " on the site plumfm. Greeting and made blooper in rock and roll.
Salut, vous aimez les sixties ? Ecoutez et podcatez mon émission "le super son des sixties" sur plum fm. Salut et faites gaffe au rock'n roll.
Ronnie I served with the USAF at Nha Trang AB, RVN 1968-69. My God the number of poor young guys who got "Dear John letters" was so durn sad. We were 16,000 miles away and forgotten about.

Nice to know the original but I still prefer the versions of Wet Wet Wet and R.E.M..
MrSlowStrat 9 months ago
@theSaintAudrey wtf kind of a stupid mindless garbage of a statement is that? these guys wrote the song so how can a cover be more poetic than the original? you're just used to new pop songs and probably listen to faggotly boy bands... fuck you and fuck you're taste go be stupid somewhere else

@rock2metal666
Tchao

@shahbaztherock - Love is All Around was written by Reg Presley, lead singer of the Troggs.

I remember this from the radio yesterday (my age doesn't matter).
I was in my car by myself.
I'm not dating anyone at the moment.
On February 20th I left this comment.
I only ever really recieve letters from the bank.
And not much has changed since I began writing.

YES, it is The Troggs

WOW--I can't believe the memories that came flooding back
being at the school dance, watching the guy I was crazy about, who didn't know I existed, dance with some other girl...........
there is nothing that can compare to that age, that time and the innocence (more or less) back then
makes me sad for young people today, that everything is so graphic, so R and X rated. I wouldn't trade those days for anything.
