  • My name is Jason Reichert, former Colorado YABA tournament regular who won more than his fair share. I was in the game during the end of the polyurethane era and resin balls were just starting to show up. Part of why I don't come back is because I see the uber high scores these days and the mental adjustments I used to make as an edge probably wouldn't matter anymore. My foot adjustments at the line were very regular, and that edge would be worthless with today's equipment.

  • I recently received the latest schedule of my local NABI chapter. Between now and the end of January, they will only have the two holiday tournaments (Thanksgiving and Year End) with one tournament per month also. Five years ago, they had 3-4 tournaments every month. Only the independent houses are willing to cater to the higher average/tournament level bowler....AMF and Brunswick have opted to chase after Rock-N-Bowlers and birthday parties.

Let's save the sport from itself!!

  • The exact same thing is happening in competitive tennis. If you look at a pro video from the 1970s the amount of finesse, power, and accuracy you needed to win was immense. Nowadays the tennis rackets are so ridiculously powerful and the strings give you so much spin that it's become a slugfest. Serve and volley is nearly impossible now, and strategic play is gone. Just hit as hard as you can, and if you hit badly it doesn't matter, the strings will spin it in for you.

  • you aren't saving anything. Competitive bowling? Your staffers can't find a bunch of idiots to enter a tournament and you come in and sack them. Oh, no. Don't by into this I'm not buying a ball not going to some shame of a tourney. Prove me wrong cause I made my point where this video hasn't said anything.

  • At one point the PBA went were heavier pins, can't the sport over-all go to heavier pins? Wouldn't that balance the power of the new balls? The balls will always have a maximum of 16 lbs and I would think that the will be a limit on just how hitting a ball can generate, so heavier pins should balance things out?

  • @Phano300 Good idea, let's all bowl with 10 pound pins. Genius.

  • go back to rubber, plastic or urethane balls and shorten the oil!!!!

  • The day reactive balls appeared was the day the sport began to slide. Players with no hand suddenly had an area and crankers had to tone down their release.

Players with a 180 average started shooting 200+ to the point now where a 230 average wont even make the cut in some events and we see playstation averages of 250+

  • @DarthMunch Look at the averages for the US Open, the best of the best are only averaging 220 at the most. We just need tougher oil patterns!

  • @silly0981 Yeah thats true also, the trouble with tougher patterns tho is a lot of bowlers have got used to scoring more than they should and just wont play events which make them look like the players they really are and not the players with inflated averages and egos

  • This is awesome!

  • Fuck whoever keeps marking my (4GPA's) comments as spam.

  • im a bowler

i will always bowl maybe even go pro someday!

  • Cause ppl have made it all about the money

  • So true! Save the great sport!!!
